| samoosa69109-01-03, 11:52 PM | i've been looking around for a bbeg for the first mission in my campaign of around cr 4 or cr 5.., it's basically an orc/goblin raid with the monster in the end.., having a tough time deciding why the orcs/goblins aren't killing the captured creature.., so the bbeg would help out.., any suggestions thoughts? I was thinking along the lines of a fighter 4 or something like that.., nothing in the monster manual is really good for my scenerio.. thanks in advance. |

And anybody that can keep rowdy orcs in line is going to be tough. Perhaps an orc leader with class levels. Fighter 5 should work out well. Since its an orc, and more importantly not a high enough level to get two attacks per round, give it the Dirty Fighting feat for that extra d4 damage on every attack it makes. Nice BIG weapon thats used almost as much for it's pure intimidation factor as for actually killing things, a Great Sword about as tall as he is should be good. If you want to be REALLY mean to your players, give him no respect for the lives of his underlings, and get him whirlwind and/or great cleave, and have him cleave off his own goblins and lesser orcs to get free hits off of the PCs. Roll him up some stats the same way the players got theirs, weapon focus/specialization with his weapon, and he'll be a nightmare for the party. Heck, give him lots of ranks in Intimidate, and say the players get a -1 Moral Penalty to all their attack rolls and damage if they don't win the opposed check because they're scared to death of what this guy might do. This is, of course, if you don't mind cleaving a PC or two in half... |

Put him at the upper limits for both height and weight. Give him a big 'beat-stick'. A large greatsword is nice...but a large morningstar is just that much more intimidating. Nothing says lovin' like a giant spiked ball bigger than your head, after all. But Edy is right, orcs and goblins aren't exactly friendly. You'll need something to hold 'em together, and I can't see an orc being cowed by ANY goblin. But the other way around would work. But if you don't care about the social aspect, throw in the Kobold of Doom*. The KoD makes for a pretty fun encounter. *Kobold with class levels. Lot's of em. |

Does anybody know how to say 'Intimidator' in orcish? have THAT be the name the PCs know him by. If orcs and goblins together won't work, use 'teenage orcs' (that is, not quite matured yet) to substitute for the goblins. |
