So what do my fellow DM's do about thing such as this EXAMPLE: In my latest campaigne, the first adventure you have to raid a kobold group because they stole the princess's ring. So you must retrive it. But to do this, you have to go to the Kobold's Lair. Which is in a mountain cave. Now I know that there will be eggs, and children, and old ladies in the home cave. But what do you do about them? Should they just run out of the way when you walk by. Should they pick up the closest rock and throw it at your head? Or do they just dissapear. So DM's, what do you do with things that just seem to dissapear? |
| Shan_TheBabau_Burke12-19-06, 08:26 PM | Depends on the race. Kobolds are a magical group on the whole and even the old ladies may attack with magic on their way out of the battlezone. I would imagine that as handy as they are with traps and the like, and being a bit cowardly on the whole, there is probably a whole set of caves the little ones and the non fighters can run to. Most likely protected with more traps in one tunnel than you see in three sets of ruins. If you don't want your players chasing them down, think like a Kobold. Make it so it isn't worth their effort |

Kobolds live in caves and travel the lands. They probably run into big nasties at night on the move and burrowing nasties at home. Think of it as a home invasion which the PCs as the invaders. Mom will protect her kids tooth and nail (literally). |

| pierow3712-19-06, 08:57 PM | Ok. sounds good to me. But one question What is the CR of a non-combatative relative to a combatative. |
| Dark Stryke12-19-06, 11:34 PM | I would not assign a non-combatent a CR. Chances are a non-combatant will be unable to hit a PC, let alone damage one. I mean, a regular kobold is CR1/3. A non-combatant kobold has to be worse. Maybe CR 1/6 if you insist on giving them a challenge rating at all. |
