Eberron - Dark and gritty setting where magic is used for even the most mundane things. Death, and intrigue, can be found in almost every alleyway and there are many adventures to be had.

Forgotten Realms - High fantasy and high power. While magic may not be mundane as it is in Eberron there are still plenty of high magic places throughout. Classic high fantasy.

Table-top RPGs are exercises in interactive storytelling. The players control thge actions of some of the primary characters, and the DM controls everything else.

The rules exist to arbitrate the actions of the players within the given world context, and dice are used to introduce an element of chance into some of those actions.

You typed "Noob". Garrrgghhhhhhhh :banghead:

When will that term die???

Anyway...
DnD is a storytelling, dice-based table top game that immerses your players into a rich and vibrant world full of endless lands and unlimited possibilities.

There aren't any boundaries and limits that you will find in MMORPGs - your friend can do near enough whatever he wants, when he wants to do it. It also doesnt have a subscription fee (unless you're evil and say it costs a certain amount per session).

He can also make a character exactly how he wants to make it - the confines of most video-game based rpg's having been lifted from the moment he picked up his character sheet ;)

I've missed a bit out but that should be enough to spark off your imagination

you get to make your own hero/villain/mercenary, whatever, and do whatever you like with him/her. none of this "cant bash the pain in the ass merchant" you wanna hit the guy making a fus at the bar, go ahead. watch for the guard though.
*turns on naruto* its that (pointing at screen), but you get to pick the powers, and the missions.
