BoEF Game - Lets Have Some Maturity This Time [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-05-06, 11:27 PM Hi. A while ago a friend of mine posted on here asking for advice on running a game involving the book of erotic fantasy, and basically got nothing but "'omg u want 2 run a game about SEX??!?!?!?! thats so imature" from most of the posters.

I'm asking again on her behalf for opinions and ideas.

Now, obviously she's not looking at running the entire game just from that book. I've advised that good ways would be either start things rolling with kidnappings from a pleasure house or etc, and that basically any campaign where gender actually matters would fit the theme well.

So, are there any other constructive, mature ideas or comments out there that I can pass on?

Wait until after midnight. Revisit the forum and you will find the Mature forum open for you to browse.

Also, she may want to pop over to RPGNow and pick up a couple of other, similar books, Encyclopaedia Arcane: Nymphology & The Quintessential Temptress, both written by James Desborough and published by Mongoose Press. The first has a lot of interesting spells, magic items, and adventure ideas. The second is more a book that revolves around ladies of the evening and how they get along in a fantasy world. With all three books, she should be able to run a really good NC-17 game.

02-06-06, 02:21 PM The BoEF is 3.0 so if she is running a 3.5 game then the new character classes (some of which are quite interesting) are going to require updating. Perhaps the publisher (Valar) has 3.5 update notes.

As far as running the game, just make sure your players can handle the material. To determine this just close your eyes and listen to them: If it sounds like you are listening to Beavis and Butthead then you don't have the right group. At its best a game incorporating the BoEF is a standard game with mature elements and inculsion of subjects normally taboo. At its worst it would be like playing Jerry Springer: The Fantasy RPG.
