| kelvinaw27302-20-07, 01:31 PM | Good question ... well characters do not gain retroactive skill points for increasing intelligence, so I would rule no if I was DMing. Gaining intelligence means that you can learn more, not that you have. |

| tharivol26602-20-07, 02:47 PM | i think i would allow it if it came up but only if it was a permanent change rather than just an item. as for I like the idea of putting on a headband and all of a sudden saying, "何? 日本語が話せる?" you could already do that with a headband of tongues that sounds really gross. |
| Tarus02-20-07, 02:49 PM | I would suggest treating it as a language slot and allowed the PC to learn it. Lets say, for example, their intelligence increases and they have a language slot. They don't just instantly get one but lets say the PC is in an elven camp and doesn't speak elvish. Let him spend a bit of time and learn. Maybe a week? You wouldn't necessarily need to make him spend money or tons of time because it can be assumed that he's been learning all along. Knowing a language doesn't necessarily mean a mastery over it either. |
