Can you guys list some good books that I can buy/use for my campaign.

its a war campaign in a small province that the adventurers call home. the dwarves go to war with the drow over something that i dont know yet. the drow ally with the centuars. The province is occupied by a small time human lord with like 20 men deffending a small keep and they have a village outside of the keep. the dwarves come to occupy the province and siege the keep. then the drow come and then the mess unfolds into the pc's having to take sides with either the humans, dwarves, drow/centaur. later near the end it happens that this evil lich/demon guy has been planning this to happen all along then he sends an army of evil after every one that is twice as powerful as everyones combind.

any way im looking for some war, terrain, ect, kind of books.
thx

ps: its an average terrain like in britain.

As far as books, maybe some of the FR ones that deal with Drow. I don't have any of them so I can't name any sorry. The dwarves have the Races of Stone. Centaurs, well they are basically in the MM. But there is a Slayer's guid to Centaurs that details them quite nicely. As far as battle strategy books, D&D doesn't have much in that department.

As far as your campaign ideas I would like to ask a few questions or make a few comments. Dwarves and especially Drow are underground races. Centaurs like to live in the woods and aren't much into man made establishments. Also Drow are kinda evil and unless those are tainted centaurs they like to stay secluded, let alone ally with a mostly evil underground race.

That was by no means telling you your idea is bad, just some thoughts that your players may ask. :)

going to war - heros of battle (very cools tuff, esp it your players like ranks, titles and medals)
dwarfs - races of stone
drow - FR stuff (not sure what though)
centuars - races of the wild
humans - races of destany (maybe not though in this situation)
undead - Libris Mortis

hope this helps, not sure how usefull most of them will be but if your in a war get heros of battle, i love the thing. there are lots of ideas on how to do things like earthworks and how to encorperate harzards into the battle field (like broken and discarded weapons that the players may trip on). also its got some rules for working as a team on specialist missions.

Heroes of Battle
Complete Warrior
That's all, I guess...

If you were to buy only one book, I'd suggest Complete Warrior. If you want to go all out then I'd suggest also picking up Heroes of Battle (especially if you want big battle scenes), Races of the Wild (info on centaurs and general stuff for a mostly unsettled region) and maybe Races of Stone (for the info on dwarves, and you might even like the goliaths to mix some things up).

it is important to note that none of these books will give you rules for an all out epic battle. DnD is ill suited for that kind of action, but these books do provide rules for smaller squad based warfare.

Arms and Equipment guide
most of the stuff in there is either useless or ridicilous but much is of great use
especially themount and guardien beast section was interesting and the vehicle section (Bondleaf armor was also nice, especially for a wizard, and the flaver was also nice)
