I'm trying to add a bit of flavor to my goblin encounters. I'm trying to think of non-treasure items for goblins to be carrying - you know, their possessions, dirty scraps of whatever, goblin grog...I'm making a random table of stuff, but I'm having trouble thinking of what all to include on it. Make it funny, make it somewhat icky...

Goblins, for the most part live in caves or underground, why not have them carrying food stuff that could be found in these places... maybe some type of larva or grubs or something even more repulsive like rotted rat meat. Especially good if the PC find themselves underground with little to no food supplies... yum, rotten rat meat sandwiches. :yuck:

1: A knit shawl, like grandma used to wear. The Goblins may think this to be some form of high ranking symbol since all old granny did was sit around, she must ahve been a leader of sorts.

2: Silver corn on the cob holders.

3: A pipe with old, moldy tobacco, or whatever leaf is smoked in your world. The problably don't know, nor care, that the stuff they're smoking is no good.

4: Metal spatula. Serves as both a frying pan, beats using your fingers when sticking it in the fire and as a tool of persuasion on fellow goblins, smack! Especially effective tool of persuasion after being used to heat food.

5: A small bag with porcelian or wood carved, painted figurines. So they can plot how they're going to kill the old boss Grintooth, find the love of his daughter Ursian and the respect of the entire goblin tribe.

6: Beaten up flask with cork plug. The cap works just fine, or did until poor old Kriln got too fed up trying to figure out the latches have to be opened before the lid pops off and just smashed hole in it to get the liquid out. Now uses a "rescued" cork plug to keep the stuff he puts in from running out.

Kobold skin boots, a necklace made of Human teeth, a pipe carved like a skull with some sticky pipe weed, ear rings of carved bone, skin full of cheap wine, dried meat, crude twine, dirty burlap sack, string of small bone disks w/ the names of Goblin women, ink and bone tattoo needles, dried Gnome thumb good luck charm.

I'll post more if I can think of something. Hope this helps.

They do have 10 Int.

But can have entirely different preferences, allowing what they like to be absolutely hideous by non-goblinoid standards.

Hmm... another item, good for chuckles...

A small piece of parchment(or other writing surface) with an odd representation of a face and the caption "Grishnak was here."

1) 5 Feet of twine ... is that bits of food on it?

2) Rusty dagger that smells of onions and garlic.

3) Bandages ... used bandages ... with something other than goblin blood upon them.

4) Goblin grog (yes, already on this board) ... anyone foolish enough to consume this saves vs Fort. DC 15 or is vomitting for 1d4 + (number of swallows) rounds.

5) A little sketch of all the goblins children ... all two hundred of them!

6) Standard treasure ... covered in some variety of grease ... smelly, smelly grease.

They do have 10 Int.different strokes.

The goblin(s) may not know, nor care, that the tobacco is no good. They just know that it looks "cool" when they do it.

If the DM is more, uh, graphic, dried and shrivelled "parts" used as trophies from humans, dwarves, gnomes, elves, etc., on the belts and streamers from the goblin's clothes.
