| FractalCodec208-07-07, 11:47 AM | Hey guys, it's been awhile! I've started up a campaign semi recently, and a new character whose back story doesn't tie in with the rest of the players has been introduced. Basically, I've found a creative way to entwine his with theirs, and it involves taking an NPC from his back story that he killed, and having him brought back as an undead by a group the other players have problems with . I don't work with undead much, and I've never used this method for a reccurring NPC before. I'm wondering if you have any good undead template suggestions for me to stick on this guy? I don't think I want vampire or lich. Also, if you could tell me what book your suggestion is in, that would be great. Thanks a lot! |

Corpse Creature (also BoVD) is an intelligent zombie-like guy that retains its abilities Death Knight (MM2) is the classic Dark Lord of Evil Nastiness, Fallen Paladin/Blackguard/Snidely Whiplash archetype. Although I did manage to have a semi-sympathetic death knight in my last campaign. Note that DK's aren't necessarily skeletal. Advanced Bestiary by Green Ronin has a huge number of undead templates, including template version of the MM undead (allip, mohrg, bodak, etc), plus "dread" versions of all of the above. It's a terrific book. Buy it. Monsters of Faerun has the curst, basically someone under a curse that will not let them die. Very interesting and atmospheric. Hope that helps. If you provide some more details about the NPC, we can offer more specific advice. |

| Calilove08-07-07, 07:01 PM | ghostwalk has a whole ruleset for using ghost type characters (zombie seems like it would be more fun though). |
| JackSnape08-07-07, 07:14 PM | There's a sword wraith in MM3 (I believe) that works well for fallen fighters. But I'd have to stick with a ghost because actually getting rid of a ghost involves delving into his backstory to right some wrong. That might be good for the group interaction you're trying to create. |
