| Munktar01-16-07, 04:10 AM | Hi there My group is now about lvl 15, and i find it harder and harder to keep notice of what buff spells are on whom, Does anyone use Buff Cards, or make use of a Buff log sheet? If so are there any available online? Thanks |

Unfortunately, this handy little aid can't be found online - or at least I had no luck uncovering it. Maybe if you go to the Piazo publishing site they might offer it as a download. |
| Free198301-16-07, 08:33 AM | Hi, When I start combat I start (as everybody) with initiative. Something like this comes out: 21: Rogue 15: Fiendish wolf 11: Cleric 10: Bard 5: Evil druid (enemy) 2: Fighter: Then I put numbers above the rest of my paper. This way I get a column for every round: ----------------------1------2------3-----4-----5-----6 21: Rogue 15: Fiendish wolf 11: Cleric 10: Bard 5: Evil druid (enemy) 2: Fighter: I always make sure that when a player or NPC has taken his actions, I mark it down. Let's presume the rogue and the wolf did their thing. The cleric then decides to cast bless. The player informs me that the spell effect will start next turn and the effect will last 3 rounds. Then I do something like this: ----------------------1------2------3-----4-----5-----6 21: Rogue-------------x 15: Fiendish wolf------x 11: Cleric-------------x------_------_-----_ 10: Bard 5: Evil druid (enemy) 2: Fighter: If the players get to the fifth round, I inform them that the bless isn't up anymore. If you have player that have multiple buffs, you could consider using different colors. ----------------------1------2------3-----4-----5-----6 21: Rogue-------------x-----x------x------_-----_ 15: Fiendish wolf------x-----x-------x 11: Cleric-------------x------_------_-----_ 10: Bard--------------x------x------x 5: Evil druid (enemy)--x------x------x 2: Fighter:-----------x------x-------x This way I can keep it clear for myself and my players. CharTrack which the PC's can use to track their data and quickly roll attack rolls (because I was playing online using openrpg). And then I made a DM tool that had basic round tracking functionality. I click "next round" and it instant decrements various buffs and tracks whose turn it is in the init. Pretty cool. The DM tool is very rough though and I have no clue where I put it or id post a link. Maybe one of these days ill redesign it and release it to the public. |
