I posted quite awhile ago a request for help with determining how many buildings should be in a particular city - in other words, what was reasonable given a certain population.

Thanks to these wunnerful boards, I got plenty of help and got the question answered.

Also thanks to the wunnerful boards, I can't find the original post. Consider this one more in what's probably a long line of requests to reinstate searches.

If anyone here can provide either advice about city size or a link to my original query, that'd be just lovely.

Thanks.

In related research:

Milan was the largest city at the end of the 13th century in Western Europe:
Population up to 200, 000; of which as many as 40, 000 were capable of bearing arms.
400 notaries, 400 butchers, 400 bakers, 200 doctors, 80 school masters, 50 copiers/book sellers, 6 000 wells, 3 000 millwheels and 1, 000 taverns.

Florence with 100, 000 population had the following:
30 hospitals, 80 banks, 600 lawyers, 100 apothecaries and 60 physicians/surgeons, standing army of 700-1 000 mounted mercs.

seems there would be plenty of taverns around for all of us DM's to run campaigns and never bump into one another.

Remember Player Characters die....:)
