| Ashlock03-02-05, 03:21 PM | What an exciting threat title, huh? :) Though I'm not new to 3rd Edition by any stretch, this is the first time I'm actually trying to seriously learn the 3.5 rules for XP, CRs, and ELs. I'm having a hard time of the fractions. Take kobolds. They have a CR of 1/4 for a 1st-level fighter. From the SRD: Kobolds with levels in NPC classes have a CR equal to their character level –3. So that means a 3rd-level warrior would be a CR of....1/2, correct? What about a 3rd-level ranger? Is that a CR 3 or a CR 1/2 as well? Can a PC class and an NPC class truly vary by three CR increments? I'd appreciate any clarification of this kind of stuff! |
| astute103-02-05, 04:01 PM | There is no clarification of this stuff. I posted a similar thread about 6 months back and I got nothing in useful answers. The way I do it is as follows: CR: 1/6...1/4...1/3...1/2...1...2...3...etc. and I just move the encounters up and down on that sliding scale. |
