MY PLAYERS PLEASE DONT READ.. SPOILERS MIGHT BE AHEAD!

I want to put a party of a level 9 cleric, level 3 rogue/7 fighter multi, level 9 bard, level 7 mage and a level 7 rogue up against some CR 6 lycanthropes (werecrocodiles and possibly some dire crocs to mix things up)

When it comes to the numbers of monsters to use..
What would be a fair encounter?
And what would be TAXING?

The characters are fairly well equiped (magic weapons and other such items) and have seen one fo the werecrocs in action and have their suspicions already..

i would think between the cleric and some melee'rs with a bit of silver were-anythings wouldnt be a huge problem. I know as a player i live for watching werewolves sizzle at the end of my silver tipped arrows...as a gm i delight in ripping into a pc's soft neck with my long fangs...a good party should be able to handle anything short of the of a murderous DM... they can always run away...and let that bite do its job properly...let them fear the next full moon..muwhahahahahahaha!

According to my calculations (read: best guess) I would go for 3-4 CR 6 Werecrocs and 3-5 CR 3 Dire Crocs. This will give an EL about 10-11. For any party of your mix, this should be 'very difficult.' But if your players have seen one of the werecrocs before and are well-equipped with magic and such then you might think about going for 5-6 CR 6 Werecorcs and Dire Crocs for an EL of 12. BTW also according to my calculations your party has an effective party level of 9.3. So, adjust everything I say as you see fit.

Thank you, I think I wil use 4 werecrocs and 4 giant crocs. I want this to be a taxing, punishing experience, as the characters are preparing for a VERY tough adventure (campaign even) after this one ends at around party level 10(+). Plus it fits the storyline I put forward for this particular adventure :)
