| UltimateReality05-29-05, 01:21 PM | Firstly, my party stay out, yadda yadda etc. etc. So. Here it is: last night TPK decided to end his campaign and turn the DM's chair over to me. I've been slowly working on my adventure, but it's not quite done yet... Here's what the players have given me to work with as characters so far (they're all lvl 3, btw): -2 NE warforged barbarian mercenaries, wanting to go into frenzied berserker [shock troops during the Last War] -a LE shifter monk -an evil wizard/cleric aiming for True Necromancer [probably from Karrnath and/or involved with the Blood of Vol] -one undecided, who made noises about recreating her wizard, but hopefully can be talked into a rogue (they need trapfinding, social skills, and ranged attack....) The adventure I have up to now involves them getting invited to a dinner at the Cyran Embassy in Sharn by whatever means I pull out of their backstory or thin air, where Tyrala (the ambassador's aide) will approach them with floor plans for a research facility outside of Metrol whose purpose she wants them to investigate. The players will go to the Mournland, fight all sorts of nasty aberrational things (was going to use undead heavily, but not so much so anymore ;)), weirdly templated animals, etc. and get to the facility. But I don't know what they're researching there. I could do the Epic Storyline Hook(tm) and have it be an eldritch machine, but I'm not sure what kind. I was thinking of having them research an Orrery of the Planes too. This is a small facility, with only half a dozen offices and maybe twice that in staff. They've got two labs in the basement. I'm wanting to make it something not complete obviously related to warfare, but something nasty and subtle. Maybe some form of biological warfare or nanotech. Perhaps something to do with espionage, not sure. This is where I need your help. I'm looking for some sort of devious plot development that runs maybe two or three steps deep at most (my group likes intrigue, but not too much). The players will find all sorts of experiments and research notes down in the labs, along with an extensive library upstairs. I don't know what to put in these, but they obviously will pertain highly to the research. After they retrieve these items, when they head back to Sharn they run into the Khraal Lords. I want this to be more than just combat...not quite sure how yet. Ideas are appreciated. Then they go back to Sharn and either get paid by Tyrala immediately, or find out she's in jail for some reason (probably ****** off an underworld org) and her assets are tied up until she is freed. This adventure hopefully levels the players once and takes two or three, maybe four, sessions to go through. I have the dinner and way to the Mournland's borders mapped out, and part of the facility. It all has to be ready next week. :help: |

Have this be done by oozes. The research facility is manufacturing oozes to transplant the "virus" into the sewer system of the city, as well as anything that they contact. You can even have these oozes be mini-sized in jars, and such and the players may believe these to be ointments, salves, or even jelly. Mmmm....jelly. That's all I got for suggestions, as I'm working on my own campaign atm, and trying to think up something cool for the next DM competitions. |

I can tie in the Lords of Dust too. Oozes in a jar, man I wish I'd thought of that....you are awesome, Didge. Oh! And that notebook, I figured out what it is: it's an Eberron equivalent of Leonardo da Vinci's notebooks, full of -- 1. myths and information on all sorts of places, beings, and history: *maps and myths of Xen'drik, and the giants and drow that live(d) there *the planes, especially Xoriat and Dal Quor, and related information on the invasions from both *aberrations and incorporeal beings *the Gatekeeper sect *the goblin empires 2. magical and psionic items and phenomena *legendary warforged components (docents and circlets of preservation) *the Kalashtar *dragonshard items *a bit on the dragonmarked houses and speculations on the Prophecy, along with some information about Argonnessen and dragons 3. the blueprint to create a Siberys Observatory, which remains partially constructed somewhere in the Eldeen Reaches :D |
