| Timespike05-30-05, 01:09 AM | I just wrapped up a campaign that's been running since july or august of last year. One of my 3 players is moving away, so I bumped up the time table quite a bit. They defeated the final villain, prevented the resurrection of an evil god, achieved minor demigod status, and all went off with their respective romantic interests. It was a wonderful, rewarding experience, and now I'm SERIOUSLY bummed that it's over. |

Think of how many campaigns end in TPKs, in gaming groups dissolving, in DMs burning out, or in PCs wandering aimlessly for several levels after the campaign should have ended, simply because everyone thought it was more important to make it to 20th level than it was to end at the conclusion of a good story arc. Yours ended exactly the way a campaign should. Bask in the glow of your success for a week and then get started on planning the next, even better one. |

I think it's great everything went so well... the guy moving away should carry this as a fond memory. Just imagine how much it would have sucked if he knew you accelerated the plot development for his sake and it still ended poorly! Good job. And yes, you should definitely get to work right away. You still have two players! |
| Kalidor05-30-05, 05:48 AM | Well done. We've been playing my campaign off and on for the past two years. The characters are 18th level... they've found out the true nature of the BBEG, made powerful friends.. and powerful enemies.. are close to learning the ultimate plan that they must stop or the BBEG will take over the world. Acended to Celestial status and have recieved a minor artifact as a special weapon. They've traveled through time, to an alternate reality.. and everywhere in between. They've been humilated and infuriated. They've defaced a grand statue of the BBEG and have made it known that they are not going to let him get away with it. They've lost an NPC ally to possesion of the BBEG's son/right hand man and have gotten him back. They've lived in sqaualler, have had their followers burned and killed and their sanctuary destroyed. They've even been TPK'd by the BBEG with a single standard action (just to show them what they were indeed dealing with)-- in a vision of an alternate future But all of this has only driven them to their ultimate goal -- Destroy Wu Ching. And as I've planned the campaign to conclude once they've surpassed level 20 and have amassed their allies for a final controntation... I'll be very sorry to see it end. I must say, I apologize if I've co-opted your topic. But the subject is near and dear to my heart and I just wanted to share. I know when the end finally comes, and the 'final episode' airs... it will be a very bittersweet conclusion. |

I've already started planning the next one, but this game that just concluded was the first I've ever run, and as such it will always be near to my heart. |
