i've decided to open another one of these threads, so, yeah.

here's a link to the previous successful one:

I'm offering to help with campaigns that need fine tuning storyline tweaks, or if you've just hit a writer's block.

just so you know, i do story-related stuff, so questions on specific rules should be posted elsewhere.

writing samples available via e-mail

I could use some help on part of my campaign. Heres a little background....
My PC's have just used an ancient artifact to stem the tide of an overwhelming army that is trying to invade their Island, (picture something similar to England). They will shortly have a choice of 3 missions. One of these missions will be to enlist the help of Dwarves who live across a mountain chain on the same island as the PC's. I would like the people who are invading to have set up some sort of trouble that the Dwarves cannot handle. I am having difficulty thinking up what this would entail. I play in 1st E still, so dwarven magic users would be pretty rare, so maybe something dealing with magic would work. Anyway, nothing I have done so far is set in stone and options are virtually limitless. If you have any ideas, they would be most welcome!
Thanks

P.S. My PC's are around lvl 5-6 and consist of at least 1 MU, 1 Ranger, 1 Thief, and 1 or 2 clerics

have the same people who are doing the other invasion be sending a portion of their forces over to the dwarf side to keep the dwarves from joining wiht the other peoples of the island and making a unified resistance.

here's what they could send over:

Have them send a few necromancers/summoners, who set up magical fortresses, and from them summon wraiths and other ethereal undead creatures that are immune to normal physical damage. nothing incredibly powerful, though. the clerics in the party should be well suited to dealing with such creatures.

then have the party hunt down the necros. you could have like a small heirarchy within them. it would be just before they are done with the last one that they would be given hints that the whole thing is actully part of a larger invasion. have them come into the necro BBEG's study or where ever he is, and he starts saying things like "you may defeat me, but you cannot stand against the full power of the Invasion*!" This would be the first clue that what they're dealing with isn't an army, but only the vanguard of a much larger force.

*= fill in the name of the organization that's invading here.
