| Cazgal02-25-07, 03:59 PM | Hi all New to the foum and new (ish) to being a DM (did it a few years ago, but have been a PC for the past 5+ years, so a bit out of the habit). The group I game with are looking for a new system and campaign (we currently play D&D E1 rules :) and MERP ... but have for the past 15 years .... so all want a bit of a change) I have voluntered to DM the next campaign and hope to use 3.5E rules - are they worth investing in ? As for the campaign and setting, the group really enjoy "intelligent" games - none of the dungeon bashes and orcs in 10x10 rooms for no reason. They also love the idea of being hunted, chased or being important to someone/somehting that is very powerful and maybe stalking them, watching them .... some of the best games and campaigns that we have really enjoyed have been on the vein but recently we seem to have lost our way a little. So what I am asking for - any suggestions or ideas of a campaign I could use - where the Pcs will feel threatened and vunerable ... being hunted and followed ... for whatever reson by a unseen force - whether human or not doesn't matter. This can come in to play over the course of the campaign in subtle clues - and doesn't ofc have to be there fixed in the PCs heads from Day 1 I was going to have a look at Ravenloft as I think this may fit the bill quote nicely - but wondered if any of you have ever run something similiar. My initial idea was that maybe one of the Lords of Ravenloft could have made the mists drag the PCs into Ravenloft for their own ends - what those are I havent decided yet .. but it would mean that the PCs and players would not be familiar with the surroundings .. and that I could really start widing them up with subtle clues dropped here and there about what is going on in the backstory (ofc their main concern would prolly to get home ....) Anyway enough rabbit from me - just wonder what you think :) |

And here is an adventure I created which won WDMT #4, you may like it. http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=10587440&postcount=78 It takes place in a homebrew world but can certainly be adapted to any other world. This adventure was the one that set the mood for the campaign, where there would be Lovecraftian horror slowly creeping into the main storyline. |

Read through the class, feat, and combat documents first, then checkout the magic overview and abilities/conditions documents. That should give you a good overview of the updated rules and provide you a good base for your decision. |
