I have been developing a campaign world that revolves around the idea of major world changing events set on some kind of timetable. I have created a flow chart related to the success and failure of NPC and player actions that will occur during the game. For example if a certain NPC succeeds in their plan it will trigger a large Orc attack on the main city. If he is stoped then a power struggle will occur amongst the Orc tribes causing a destabilization in the Orc lands. Another one is an NPC in the starting city is actually a vial necromancer and is trying enable an invasion of the powerful Necros empire that has cut off the homelands from the colony area where the party currently is. There are several others that I have developed. What I am looking for are some ideas for some similar world changing events for later in the campaign that the players can try to influence and stop.

Some starter ideas

1) A powerful necromancer has uncovered a negative magic item that as he (and his army of undead) moves closer the item causes a disruption in the normal feel of magic. All casters begin to suffer from nausea and as the item draws near they feel more and more of its effects. This would create an adventure hook to find out what is causing the disruption and stop it and the necromancer.

2) Enemy’s of the local lord have come from the homelands to make war upon the
colony and defeat the local lord.

Lets hear some other ideas from your wicked and creative minds.

A mighty lich wizard has just been killed and had his soul sealed into his phylactry for all time by a group of equally mighty heros. Unfortunately, those heroes did not clean out his lab. A certain monster let's call it the Vasuthant [MM3] was being studied by the lich and kept in a glass sphere coated with positive energy to contain the undead cloud. When the lich's minions looted his lab they shattered the glass allowing the vasuthant a chance to flee.... and feed. The longer the players ignore rumors of a mysterous inky darkness that attacks townsfolk in their sleep, the more HD the creature gains, and bolder it becomes.
