Campaign theme songs [Archive] - Wizards Community

11-05-04, 02:52 PM hey, so we tend to like to use music to accent gameplay, especially when something really epic is happening. because of this, we usually adopt a few theme songs of sorts. our initial one was "down with the sickness" by disturbed, but now we've started using "rock you like a hurricane" by the scorpions. anyone else have any particular songs they use in their campaigns?

p.s. when we're calculating xp and levelling, we also use the ewok song from the end of return of the jedi. mostly because our dm hates it.

11-05-04, 03:23 PM Rock really doesn't fit the mood of the game I usually run. I'd be more apt to use such things in a modern demon hunting campaign. But hey, whatever works in the games of others is cool by me.

For one setting, I've compiled a nice couple of CDs of some baroque music, as well as some full orchestral pieces. I've also pulled from some RPG game soundtracks, such as Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy 9.

For another game, I've compiled a soundtrack of old sock hop, some elevator music, and fast, energetic jazz pieces.

For yet one other, I have tons of random techno/trance (and the final battle was fought to the tunes of Mush Mushi by Infected Mushroom).

11-05-04, 03:30 PM My next campaign is being scored by the mighty Blind Guardian (take a bunch of RPG/Fantasy freaks, give them god-like instrumental ability, liberally add heavy metal, bake a 350 and you got Blind Guardian)

When they're done the campaign, I plan on playing And The Story Ends (great tune, good start to getting into Blind Guardian)

I'm also going to use some stuff from the LoTR soundtrack, some of the instrumental Dissection songs and probably other instrumental black metal stuff

When I do soundtrack albums for my games I aim for generally nameless and ambient songs. Most things that get a *shudder* pagan/new age/wicca-ish label slapped on them are usually good for this. The only "listenable" band that I might ever include in a D&D soundtrack CD would be The Album Leaf.
