As for the actual story to the campaign, I'm considering basing it around the 22 cards in the major arcana of Tarot. They are actually often described as an "adventure" of sorts, called "the Fool's journey" (the Fool is the first card of the major arcana) as a pedagogic trick to convey their teachings. I'd like to do something of the same in an adventurous 3.5 environment. So I though I'd ask if anyone has had a similar idea and how it worked out for them, and what your general thoughts on this are. :D |

Each of the cards granted its possessor a small spell-like ability or power related to its picture. I didn't use actual tarot cards, but rather created my own set of 13. Its not a terribly original idea.. its been done in the likes of Card Captor Sakura and the Dragon Ball series to name a few, but I thought it was a fun side plotline for adventurers. Sadly, that game didn't last very long due to a couple players dropping out (Never run a game including both members of a couple unless you KNOW they aren't ever going to break up. -_-) so I can't tell you how it turned out. They only managed to find one card, though they seemed interested in collecting the rest. ~Ginger |
