This one is realitivily mid magic one. I want some advice for this My first player is the "evil" guy. He is a Half fiend Cleric 3/ Wizard 3/ Mystic Theruge 6 lich. He is 980 years old. He is searching for an artifact that literally raises corpses in miles of radiuses and begin another undead war. He has already let this fate befell three continents in his past, nearly 900 years ago. 25 years ago, he tried to gain the nessecary artifact, and suceeded in getting part. However, in his search fr the missing pieces, the part was stolen. This is where the other players come in The lich, using all sorts of magic items to disguise himself is hiring several adventueres to find this piece. He normally would hire them, and let them do it themselves, but the one problem is one of the PCs has the abilty to detect undead constantly, so he needs to travel with them to dominate the PC so he doesn't reveal his identity. So the PCs (including the lich) travel, finding the stuff. And when it is all found, the artifact is complete, and the lich betrays them. At this point, it is up to the PCs to stop him. Fortunatly, the artifact requires a two year long ritual before it even works. Now for the actual logistical problems. First of all, to facilitate the BBEG ness of the lich, i gave him an ability call BBEG Generator. He can create once a day, X CR Y encounters, where X is the number of players, and Y is the average level. He can also create a dungeon each day of a size that fits comfortably on a 1/4 inch piece of graph paper. He also must generate X Lv Y treasures, and place them correctly. I think this works, tell me if you have any good ideas Next, and last. One of my character was bit by a vampire and lived. He basically wants to be a living undead character, if that makes sense. So I gave him the following abilities/detriments. BTW, he is a paladin. -Aura of evil -Counts as undead for turning, rebuking, commanding, and detecting -detects undead constantly. -+4 turn resistance -death touch once a day, as the death domain skill - -4 Charisma for bluff and diplomancy unless a disguise check (DC 15) - Is unaware of affliction - Can be commanded by a command undead spell, however, the caster must be aware he is undead first. - +2 Str (like a zombie) or +1 AC (haven't decided) tell me what you think |

Second- I don't mind evil PC, many do but I think its fine. Third- Cliche premise, but if your group likes stuff like that go with it. The lich, using all sorts of magic items to disguise himself is hiring several adventueres to find this piece. He normally would hire them, and let them do it themselves, but the one problem is one of the PCs has the abilty to detect undead constantly, so he needs to travel with them to dominate the PC so he doesn't reveal his identity. Fortunatly, the artifact requires a two year long ritual before it even works. So let me get this straight, you make one PC lvl 20 and have him hire a bunch of low level people and walk around with them after sending them on a quest to get something the PCs (save one) don't care about or can use, ever... Why doesn't the lich just raise a Morgh or two to find his stuff? Why did he hire someone who hates undead? Why doesn't he just kill that person in his sleep? Also how can you challenge all of the PCs a few lvl 6 and a lvl 20 will not make any encounter kosher or a challenge without being near TPK, Now for the actual logistical problems. First of all, to facilitate the BBEG ness of the lich, i gave him an ability call BBEG Generator. Okay, so your giving up all control in your campain to a PC. Why not make him DM? He will be running the BBEG, he will be making the encounters, he will be making dungeons, he is the focal point of the plot, let him run the game. And those are some tiny dungeons.... Next, and last. One of my character was bit by a vampire and lived. He basically wants to be a living undead character, if that makes sense. So I gave him the following abilities/detriments. BTW, he is a paladin Usally living after a vampire attack is reason to be happy, not hope to be a half zombie. . - +2 Str (like a zombie) or +1 AC (haven't decided) Could this be the charecter that is going to detect the lich? Did you give gifts that the PCs shouldn't of gotten and then got stuck? Really why should you give the PC anything? He got bite by a Vamp. Do you hand out templates to people who get hit by a kolbold? Why should you here? Its pointless and has no real drawbacks. [no one, aside from metagaming monsters would try to turn a Pali, and a -2 on diplomacy he is a Pali they have like a +20 at lvl 4] |

Second, what is this BBEG generatior ability and what's the point? Sounds like you have missed a step or two in plot creation... Until I understand these things, I can't help you. |
