| DM_Greatness07-30-06, 01:59 AM | Here is what I'm running with so far. I'm about to print out a list for my players so that way I have it written down, but I figured I'd run it through here first. Campaign Rules: - 25 pt buy - Core Rules + XPH - Some feats and spells are available in game from other sourcebooks - Cleric spells selected must remain within the flavor of the mythos - No prestige classes - Death and Dying rules from the Unearthed Arcana (copyed and given to each player as a handout) House Rules - All human party (helps tether reality to a fantasy game) - Eschew Materials is a free feat (freedom from bookkeeping) - When rolling for HP, if less than 1/2 of the die value is rolled, consider that roll to be 1/2 the die value. This applies to PCs/NPCs/Monsters alike (longer, tactical combats & rolling a 1 for hp is unfun) - Caster class such as Bards/Sorcerers/Psions will gain an extra power known per level per bonus from Intelligence ex. A Bard with 14 intelligence will know two additional spells per level (Tactics, Variety and fun) - PC's who maintain a nice, updated, handwritten character sheet reflect the devotion of that character, and will be rewarded with a uncommonly selected, mildly useful feat as reflection of that character's devotion (Fun of seeing feats never selected in play & reward for excellent character maintenance) - Some powers may not be available right away, or even available at all (player balance and game balance) Other than the above, I'm running as hardcore Rules as Written as possible. Everything seems to be working out quite smoothly. Campaign started out a level 1 with four players, and has been going on for about four months now, with the players about to hit level 5 shortly. I'm about to add a fifth player to the group, and everyone is nice and happily addicted to the one a week D&D game. My comments thus far from my 3.5 campaign: - RAW are a very nice, very smooth engine. if you mostly leave them alone, they mostly work very well for you - Psionics really is stronger than the vast majority of core material. - Bard is an exceptional class, but not a exceptionally powerful one. It takes a player that doesn't mind passing the glory over to another PC to really make the Bard class bloom. Bardic spells however, are pretty darn cool. - You can run a fantastic campaign with very few sourcebooks, saving all of your players and yourself a good deal of time & money.
