| Etsu_ElfRanger11-22-04, 01:29 PM | I am trying to rework a module that has a late night campsite encounter, for a lvl 1 party. The encounter as written had a monster teaching her young how to hunt. Basically, the young attacks the party, while the mother sits back and watches. In the module I'm converting from, the monsters were a mother leucrotta and her young. (I think the module actually was using a conversion from like 2nd edition or something, instead of the Monsters of Faerun 3.0 version) While I like the idea of this encounter, I don't really like the leucrotta. So, does anybody have any ideas of what other monsters I could use? And, so this thread doesn't just become all about me needing help, let me add another question. What are some of your favorite campsite encounter that you've used? Or do you think they're worth using at all? |

These were level 1 PCs so our bard just walked up to her and extended his hand in friendship. The medusa petrified him on the spot. It got that campaign off to a great start. I'm anxious to see the suggestions for monsters. I'm about to launch a 1st level myself. |
| eshadowe11-24-04, 02:51 PM | here is my FAVORITE campsite encounter i have ever done,,,I did it to my 12th level party but they didn't do it as planned, but was funny. They were "attacked' by gobins Well not really attacked, but the players thought so,,,,the goblins fired flame arrows into the camp, hitting a few player. So what did the players do,,,run off into the woods to kill the goblin (well most players would and all but one of mine did, the halfling Master chef/sorcerer descided to stay and cook them a snack for when they came back) So this was the plan, the goblins drew out the players away from camp so three goblins waiting could raid there camp. The 12th level Master Chef/sorcerer thought that was such a good plan, he even gave the goblins some money (10 gp) but when they got gready, he scared them off with some spell, but didn't kill them. Still one of my players favorite encounters....shows them NEVER underestamate the little guy |
