I was thinking of having a plot, where the BBEG was a 15th-level Ur-Priest/Dweomerkeeper who was attempting to become a god (and with Miracle without XP components, he has a good chance of doing it). The problem is that I'm afraid that any 15th-level party would have no chance of defeating him. Any suggestions?

Uh, DK = Mystra's chosen class... Not sure you can keep the benefits while denying her worship.

Wouldn't an Ur-Priest, having drawing it's powers from other Gods, not want to be a god? It's kinda like Robin Hood wanting to become the Sheriff of Nottingham. I always thought Ur-priests hated the divine for their foolishness.

I would suggest against this, since it is pretty much impossible for an Ur-Priest to become a Dweomerkeeper and the DM should adhere to the rules to some extent if he expects his players to.

Also, read the Miracle spell's description. All a Miracle does is send a request to your deity (or the power you pray to for spells) to assist you. This makes Miracle an extremely unsuitable spell for Ur-Priests.

Yep. It's always a plus when a DM has a clue of what they're doing.

If the PC's are as completely void of any adherence to the rules as the suggested NPC is, then they may just trash him. If not, they should stand no chance at all... and might be wise to look for a DM who uses the rules atleast a bit.

Edit: I withdraw the second part of that last sentence. I guess I was just feeling pekish. Anyway, if the players are built adhering to the rules the DM does himself and his game a SEVERE dis-service by ignoring them himself. Continuity and impartiality should be considered a vital part of the DM's job description.

I'm not looking at it right now, but shouldn't the first clue be a line somewhere in the prerequisites for Dweomerkeeper that says something like Patron Deity: Mystra? Hmm... "I deny the gods! All the divine powers are nothing but my tools, from which I draw energy at my whim! But not you, Lady, I promise. :D "

Agreed, as would I, but: as a DM you wouldn't have to explain 'how' exactly, just that 'he will try to'.
As for the CR, every BBEG on his own has the chance to bite the dust in just a few rounds (or even one!), I can't see why this one is an exception. It's up to the party to get him on his own.
