| ShadowDragon868511-14-04, 03:38 PM | I want the PCs to be able to use a Dragon Wyrmling as a 4th level PC. I want to understand this, so I can let them all do a Metallic, or a Red or maybe Blue. But, I have no idea how. Can someone show me? |

It has savage species style progressions for brass, bronze, copper, gold, and silver dragons (up through 20th level...most ranging from Young to Juvenile in age category by 20th level). Nothing about chromatic, gem or other dragons, but I imagine it would be relatively simple to use the metallic ones as patterns to chart out the other types. |
| dragnkpr11-14-04, 07:32 PM | There isn't anything that goes as low as 4th level equivalent, the lowest is a white wyrmling and that starts at 5th level. The closest metallic is Brass (6th level), Red starts at 11th level and blue starts at 10th. Every few years the dragon has to use its next experience level to gain a dragon HD instead of another class. The section is somewhat complicated, but if you still want to try it out, e-mail me at dragnkpr91@yahoo.com and I can send you the rest of the information you'll need. |
| ShadowDragon868511-14-04, 09:07 PM | Well, here's what I've been thinking of. I'm going to start the PC as a 1HD Gold Dragon Wrymling. Yes, 1 HD. I'm also going to start him as Small. at 3 HD, he grows up to Small, at 6, Medium, and at 8 (the figure listed to start a Gold Wrymling's Hit Die) to the Large size. After that, no more size freebies, he has to take the phantom level. I figure he's just going to be advancing his Dragon hit die, instead of class levels, because it'll get him natural armor bonus and such. |

I love that image of the Great Wyrm Red Dragon and her family on the front. :) I understand your question better now... you want an ECL 4th level party of wyrmling dragons. Since you have Draconomicon, you can see how it would be difficult to do with the rules as written. If you knock them down to 1hd + LA, then you're sending them against 4th level challenges with too few HP's, no matter how many bonus HP's they get from their good Con modifier. Edit: remember that a lot of their abilities are based on HD too, so taking away HD = lowering effectiveness of dragon abilities. |
| ShadowDragon868511-15-04, 04:20 AM | Actually, they're ECL 5, and only one of them is a wrymling dragon. And he's going to be advancing his Dragon hit die, not class levels, so he'll be able to catch it up on that respect. I've also kinda of figured that he's Tiny for HD 1 and 2, Small for 3 and 4, Medium for 5 through 7, and he gets to be Large, like the Gold Wrymlings as written, at level 8, which is the RAW starting Gold Dragon HD. |

If all the characters are dragons, then they have a very very long life, they can handle a year here and there in down time. While that puts alittle more work on you to advance the world as they sit and count their hoards, It would be in the long run the better option. If they want to continue to adventure while they are waiting to mature, then they can pick up class lvls as normal. I have personal run a all dragons caimpaign, and it is an awesome experiance, but not one that should be taken lightly. Only 3 hatchlings/yearling dragons done alot of things in the adventure that i ran. I mean, they sank the boat of pirate Orcs by chewing holes in the bottom of the hull. Id love to see a normal PC race do that. I have the book, and im online alot of the time. If you want to discusse some things, contact me at soulteardragon@msn.com . |
