| Daelomiel10-13-04, 10:33 PM | I would like to add more 0 level spells to my game. They should be useful in day-to-day situations, but should also be minor effects. The purpose is mostly to add color to a hedge-wizard or adept type of NPC and to give PCs something fun with which to impress the locals without using significant levels of spells. The world is low-magic, with predominantly feudal society. Any suggestions? |
| Dash Branaghan10-13-04, 10:51 PM | It already exists. Use Prestidigitation to cover minor spell effects. I had one player who would open the door, use Prestidigitation to flutter the candles, ruffle the curtains, and then have Ghost Sound emit The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly Theme. Great effect. If you're looking for something more, give us an idea what you mean. Dash |

Generally pointless. well i am sure that your not going to sneak past the goblin as he wonders how his shoes just got polished, but cantrips are pretty much all for role playing purposes anyway. heh, though it would be interesting, to have to get past an encounter by only using cantrips like this. |
| Cyan Wisp10-14-04, 01:06 AM | There were several categories in 1e Unearthed Arcana. Useful (essentially prestidigitation effects), Reversed (again, prestidigitation effects, but more mischievous), Legerdermain (hiding objects, minor polymorph any object effects, things like daze) Person-affecting (belching, nodding, sneezing, giggling, winking, yawning - all good fun) Personal (flame from your finger to light a smoke, summoning normal insects and small rodents, light effects, even a minor knock spell) Haunting Sound (various effects. Now grouped as ghost sound, pretty much.) I have seen other threads out there devoted to this subject. Maybe a Forum Search is in order for you... :) |
