| MasterRookie11-05-05, 01:51 PM | As some may remember in the campain I'm running the PC's have been captured by a LN drow varient known as netherwood drow. At this point they've earned the trust of the village they were in by helping to defeate a gnoll raid. Now they're being taken to the capital to apear before the high cleric's council for some sort of admittance procedure. At this point I don't know what should happen next and could use some ideas. For background info these Netherwood drow are extremely xenophobic. They worship Wee Jas instead of Loth, some worship vecna but they are not well thought of. Members of the Vecna clerichood have threatened the PCs but backed down because they were being escourted by two Wee Jas clerics to the capital. If anyone wants me to reiterate the whole campain so far I will. |

Just the gnolls is meaningless, for all the locals know, the PCs arranged the gnoll attack to ingraciate themselves with the elves. Esteban winced at the pain in his ribs. "Wake dog!" His tormentor was no longer content to let him sleep. The sack over his head was gone. Esteban looked around. These Drow were getting on his nerves. "Welcome human! Few gain such an audience, but you have proven yourself useful." |
| MasterRookie11-05-05, 07:05 PM | I supose the whole trick thing is possible, but somewhat improbable. See the gnolls attack all the time and rangers usually stop them, on this particular occasion rangers had been pulled from one side of the river because they spotted the PC's and didn't want their people to be discovered. The gnolls attacked shortly after the PC's were captured it is unlikely that the PC's could have arranged the whole thing without first knowing of the drow's presence, and of course the drow wouldn't let that happen. So calling two Gnoll attacks is very unlikely and would require a ridiculous conspiracy explaining a routeen occurance that only the most paranoid drow would belive in. So far I had an assassin hired by the cult of vecna try to kill the PC's, he implicated one of the people guarding the PC's (both from attack and from escaping the city) but didn't name names, leaving a nice mystery. But still I'd like some other ideas. |
| FriendoftheDork11-05-05, 08:35 PM | What's the problem? Pat them on the head. Okay the PCs may have helped them against a raid, but unless they saved their entire nation from extermination they neededn't be showered with gifts, titles and carried on shoulders. |
| MasterRookie11-05-05, 08:43 PM | yeah but they don't get thrown in a dungeon and beaten either. Being permitted to roam a secure area under strict supervision is hardly showering with gifts. and that doesn't help me. I'm looking for Ideas for adventures here. |
| FriendoftheDork11-05-05, 09:00 PM | Well let me see, since the PCs have shown some faith and competence, the council will probably want to do something for them. There is bound to be some task that haven't been done yet because it was considered too dangerous or not important enough. Could be anything really, from hunting down the pesky dragon that steals sheep (or monkeys or whatever they use for food), to retrieving the ancient artifact of Sael, which was captured by an enemy 2-300 years ago, to shoveling dung. Like any? |
| yellowdingo11-06-05, 06:46 AM | You should have gone with the original option of geas and mindwipe: "You remember nothing of what has transpired in the last six days." Later found naked ten miles down river adrift on a canoe by fishermen. |
| MasterRookie11-06-05, 04:07 PM | The drow reserve the right to change their verdict. It can still happen. |
