I have the PHB and DMG, is it in there somewhere? Secondly, I have a player who wants to carry a full backpack, full sack, beltpouches, longbow, quiver of arrows, heavy mace, warhammer, shortsword, battleaxe, a couple daggers, a heavy shield and full plate armor. His strength is technically high enough to carry it all (18), but I'm balking at the idea that he can actually find room for it all. For example, he wants to hang his weapons at his belt, his quiver and bow and backpack on his back, (where does he keep the sack?). He recently found a magical helm, and so he's carrying around his old helm "just in case" or something. I've really got to give him a sense of what he can reasonably carry. (If I had a heavy mace, axe, sword, a beltpouch or 2, a couple daggers, and a hammer all dangling from my belt, my pants would fall down! and if I had to start running?...ouch!) Thirdly, if a character is using a heavy shield, can he open a door without putting the shield down? My impression is that you can hold a torch/open a door, etc. with a *light* shield, but that a heavy shield is just too heavy to let go of without it sliding off your arm (as per PHB, pg 125). All help greatly needed/appreciated. ps. oh yeah, he wants to carry around a 9'x6' flying carpet, too... |

Nodwick (http://www.shinvision.com/nodwick/pict/chara_nodwick.jpg) at it again! Seriously though...all that stuff is gonna be straped down and tied. Or stuffed into the pack itself. I dont see any problem with it at all, who cares? Oh...and here is another picture from the PHB (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/ph_gallery/X_Chap7_Equipment.jpg) |
