| smileybob102-03-06, 05:12 PM | i am wondering if anyone could either answer this question or point me in the right direction. at worst let me know that there is no current ruling and it would need to be a judgement call by the dm. when a chain devil uses its animated chain attack, what is the process of making a disarming attack. their may be no weilder for the defender to make an attack of opportunity against. thus would the attempt just continue with no threat of stopping the disarm or a reveral disarm. thanks for any help |
| JD02-03-06, 05:54 PM | Here's how a disarm attempt would go with a chain animated by a chain devil: 1) Chain provokes attack of opportunity If the chain is in a square threatened by the target, they can have a go at sundering it. 2) Opposed attack rolls The player rolls as normal and the chain uses the chain devil's stats. 3) Consequences If the chain wins, the player is disarmed. If the player wins, they may make a disarm attempt against the chain. This is where things become debatable. I would rule that whether the chain is being held by another or secured to a surface, it drops to the floor (a chain already on the floor is unaffected, I guess). Oh, and chains secured to surfaces would probably get the +10 to resist being disarmed, as with locked gauntlets. I might houserule that anyone that succeeds in a disarm attempt against an animated chain is automatically allowed the DC15 will save to break the kyton's hold over it, but that's a little iffy. Hope this helps! |
