Ok ok ok. Here we go. a Lich is attacking a party he has greater invisibility on, fly, blur and is unhappy. He is attacking a Pc wizard. who has blur, mirror image and too is unhappy.

First of all the blur, must apply to all the wizards mirror images, if not it would be obvious which is the real one right? this being the case would make the two spells a powerful combination to would be melee attacked as the chance of hitting each mirror image would be a lot harder, right?

second, if chain lightning is auto hit, then would it hit the real one or a random image. If it is a random image then does it automatically hit the image and thus destroying it or does the blur effect that too.

thirdly, if the wizard decides to hold waiting to cast say...magic missile at the invisible Lich, when the Lich reveal his location. The Lich can do this by casting a spell like chain lightning or fire ball etc which starts from the casters finger tips. If this is the case I would imagine the magic missile is not an auto hit as the exact position of the lich is not revealed. So would it become a touch attack or just a 50% miss chance????

1. Not really.
Mirror Image copies your shape and make multiple fake images of you.
Your fake images also look blurred. But the thing is, the blurred portion is also a part of your fake image.
= O=
=-+-=
=||=
= : blurred portion, but still a part of Mirror Image
Therefore, images do not get miss chance.

Likewise, if you are displaced, your mirror image is also displaced, but the image is still your image.
Again the images do not gain miss chance.

2. Chain Lightning does not let you automatically know the real one.
Blur(or any other miss chance effect) does not work against target spells.
According to FAQ, Chain Lightning destroys the images. But there are people argue otherwise.

3. You need a means to see invisible or have to succeed in Spot check to notice the lich.
If you don't have any of those, you cannot attack the invisible with Magic Missile. If you have any, Magic Missile automatically hits.

My takes on the questions.

1. Blur applies to the Wizard but not his mirror images. Attack the wizard and miss from blur is just like a real miss. Attack against an image is a real miss against the wizard but appears to be a hit.

2. For Chain Lightning I'd apply it like a normal area type attack. Any image can be targetted but the actual blast hits the wizard with the primary blast appearing to hit ALL images (which remain after the blast)and any secondary targets come from other sources. If you don't like that option then you'd treat everything as an individual target with the wizard likely getting a secondary bolt and leaving destroying all of the images hit. Which to use is up to the DM (I favor the first) and should apply to both sides of a fight.

3. You are using a ready action to target a target breaking invisibility. When invisibility is actually broken may determine how things should play out but I'd say starting the action would do it an enable your readied action. If invisibility is broken by the triggering action then you can act as if it weren't invisible; on the otherhand if it is an Improved Invisibility type effect then just the square is revealed but you still can't target the individual any better than you could normally.
