| Ransolot02-11-07, 08:55 PM | Hi there. I wanted to see if I am breaking things down right....So, here is my situation. I want to get a EL 19. So, am I doing this right if I were to break it down in a few different ways: EL 19= 18+16 so, can I break this down one more time by say taking the 16 and breaking it down to 15+13? So the total would be this: EL 19= a 18, a 15 and a 13? Is this right? |

| Lelldorianx02-11-07, 09:42 PM | I like to see what the stats compare to and I have a decent understanding of how CR works due to experience. Often, if I give something new, like a Young Dragon, a shot; I will dumb it down if they start failing. I.e the dragon was supposed to die with perhaps one unconscious player, perhaps it is looking like one unconscious and one leaning toward death - I will normally (depending how close they are to killing it) give them a DM cheat and drop his health. The dragon might be at 30 health left, with two PC's standing, both around 15 health. I will drop his health by half and that should swing it enough where one will pull through. Things like this, that are somewhat hard for PC's to see through, work great. But do not let PC's get into the train of thought that "If we all stay in the gas filled room Steve surely won't kill all of us! Everyone Stay! At least someone will live!" I have had this happen, and I am currently working on changing it by letting the stupid players die due to stupid things like the above. |
