| The_Rogue01-25-07, 04:36 PM | Hey I'm trying to create a "HQ"/city for chaotic evil Pcs and Npcs. I want it to be inhabited by drows, Mindflayers, half-orcs, evil humans, and whatever else. It also has to have shops and inns and some other stuff. So feel free to add ur suggetions for shops, building, encounters, NPCs, and whatever else an evil place would need. Thank you! |
| The_Rogue01-25-07, 04:43 PM | Anyone got any ideas for an NPC or something? |
| Dunsel01-26-07, 09:04 AM | How about a head shop with real heads? :D Seriously, think evil. All those races have their own needs. Drow would love a sunglasses shop. How about skin lotion for Illithids? NPCs are a personal thing for most DMs, including my self. My advice is to search the web for varient race NPCs and see what you find. I don't recall any adventures with Illithids in 3.5 but I am sure they exist. Fleshing out Drow NPCs should be a lot easier. My trick to create NPCs in bulk is find an NPC and then just change the race and make the necessary adjustments. Be sure to check over the results to see if they make sense. Here is a good place for NPCs http://d20npcs.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page I hope that helps you get started. |
| Ace_of_Diamonds01-26-07, 09:14 AM | From a feasibility standpoint, I doubt a chaotic evil city could work. Chaotic evil beings probably couldn't stop screwing each other over for personal gain and fighting about it long enough to build a city. |
| zzakk2to201-26-07, 10:16 AM | try lawful evil because that way it would work or even neutral evil but chaotic would not work. how about so that you dont have every paladin in a 1000 mile radius coming have a mock town on the surface then have the real town in an underground cavern thats close to the surface. |
| Witch01-26-07, 10:19 AM | For one, Illithid/Mind Flayers are Lawful Evil, not chaotic evil. For another, the idea of an organised gathering of chaotic evil characters seems somewhat paradoxal. |
| seldom_seen01-26-07, 11:16 AM | A gathering of chaotic evil beings all in the same area, dealing with each other on a one on one basis would be, well, chaotic. Maybe you could have the city populated with true nuetral shopkeepers, tavern owners, and other townspeople. the city could cater to the evil community, servicing both lawful and chaotic evil characters. The city could be patrolled and the peace kept by high level demons or other powerful lawful evil creatures. Some of the possible shops could include a store selling torture devices, with a show room using live slaves. The above store could be right next door to the slave market for ease of transaction. Or you could have a shop specializing in poisons and their antidotes. The Assasins Retirement Home could be located in the evil city, where aging assasins can sit around and swap stories and techniques. I'm sure there are plenty of other ideas that people will come up with, but that's all I can think of for now. |
| nlentz8801-26-07, 12:28 PM | A town of chaotic evil inhabitants? I'd imagine smoking ruins, toppled palaces, descrated temples, empty neighborhoods, plague, poverty, and filth. Seriously, if everyone is chaotic, then there would be very little stability in the town. Someone's house could get burned to the ground when a passing CE wizard just gets the urge to burn something. The CE barbarian doesn't like the prices he was quoted at the weapon shop? Bye-bye weapon shop. If you make this town a recurring location in your campaign, I would have it change every time the PCs visit. Some of the NPCs they met during their first visit will have left or died. Some of the shops they frequented are now closed or destroyed. Things like that. |
| daimyotx01-26-07, 12:32 PM | I have 3 words. Skullport: Forgotten Realms. It's a mostly CE city watched and policed by the LE Skulls. It's a place with a lot of lawlessness and backstabbing. The only law that exists is that that happens when the Skulls are around, really. |

Chaotic evil beings probably couldn't stop screwing each other over for personal gain and fighting about it long enough to build a city. A CE city would work if the ruler was just that darn bad.:mrt: |
| Orchomenos01-26-07, 04:11 PM | Read info about Menzoberazan (sp?), the drow city. Ok, it's only drows, but the lower-classes could be anything. |
