| Rabit11-12-05, 08:17 AM | Charecter: Furson - C/N Rouge Halfling True Family and False Deception Jeffery Fursooni - Adopted Dad - Human Margery Fursooni - Adopted Mother - Half-Elf Born name: unknown Given name: Sylvester Fursooni referred to as "Sly" by family and friends Sylvester's parents were killed by city guards of Rootport when Sly was 12. Sly's parent's outlook on life felt no man should be punished for trying to survive. His parents were killed for hiding outlaw's and friends involved in a theft ring. The guards were there to kill and would've killed small Sylvester regardless of his age due to the extent of there hate for the band of thieves. All members of so called "theft ring" were also executed for unlawful acts against the town folk of Rootport. All members that is except for Laesen, a master of disguise and misdirection. Laesen avoided being caught due to a nac for creating and preparing a disguise in an uncanny amount of time. A disguise that was said to be so great that Laesen could "Fool a dragon into thinking Laesen was the dragon's right hand.". There has been stories of Laesen's disguise abilities that some believe at face value and others believe are no more than tales that remotely resemble the truth. One of these such tales describe the only time Laesen had ever been caught by the authorities. As the story goes Laesen was shackled and held prisoner in a tight cell with nothing but a stack of straw for a bed. There were three guards watching the cell at all times. After ten minutes of Laesen being locked up, the guards heard a small child cry for help from behind them. They turned for a mere moment, and when they looked back to the cell Laesen was no where to be found nothing was in the room, nothing but the straw. No one knew where Laesen had gone or how he could've escaped with 3 guard at the door. Later that night a villager had spotted a lump of straw fleeing from the city, it is only assumed this was Laesen. Other tales describe Laesen entering a room with only seconds passing, some one completely different would leave the room, only later to be realized it was Laesen. Only one man could ever truly know how accurate these tales are and that is Laesen himself. After Sly's parent's were killed Laesen assumed responsibility for the child and renamed him Furson in the memory of his parents and to cloud the truth from authority's that wanted to finish the job. Laesen fled with Furson from Rootport and tried to provide a modest but safe life for Furson in a small town of outlaw's called Proffer. Laesen believed the outlaws of this town would repel any further investigation ran by the high guard of Rootport. Proffer was a small village 120 miles from Rootport mainly occupied by smugglers, thieves and down right cruel people. Laesen entered the town with the mentality of a thief and would raise Furson the best he could with these beliefs. Furson was learning to be a thief, within months he had stolen for his first time. He had stole a necklace with a solid gold locket from a boastful drunk who wouldn't shut up about how he had murdered an entire family. Furson returned to a proud mentor and gave Laesen the necklace as a gift to show Furson did not hold Laesen responsible for the death of his parents. By the time the first year had past since the death of the Fursooni's, Laesen's outlook on life had changed dramatically much of this change came from guilt of the death of Furson's parents. Laesen felt he owed Furson a better life than what he had lived. Laesen believed the laws of man held no domain over his soul nor the soul of any man. His radical beliefs made him famous in a new sense he was consider a great teacher. With this new fame, at first came few followers but many assassination attempts. Over time he was accepted as a wise man. Laesen's following was compiled mostly of young children trying to find a home. The first three to follow Laesen were Tom, Julie and Billy, all human children aged between eleven and fourteen, Tom being the oldest. Furson found close friendships with these three. Laesen showed them how to pull simple scams to get nourishment and clothing but also taught them they are responsible for the well being of every one they come into contact with. Laesen went on to teach that if you steal from some one who is in need you are only stealing from yourself. No one owns anything, this world was created to provide to the people who live in it. You only deserve what you require and you have the right to take what is being kept from you by the greedy, who seek profit on your misfortune (ie. a shop owner). The four children were raised on these beliefs and honored Laesen. Along the years of Furson reaching adulthood other followers came and went. By the time Furson reached 18 Laesen had hundreds of followers. The borders of their once moddest shack in which Laesen's philosophy had been followed now reached from the far east of the town to the far west. Laesen believed there was no true leader nor was there any organization he had created, but merely a idea some chose to agree with. The town of Proffer however held Laesen in high regard and were very loyal to him and would do anything he asked. The towns evil roots still had its hold on the morale stand of the city and over time it began to take surface once again. A prodigy at theft and trickery rose amongst the rest of the followers and quickly became famous in her own right. Her name was Lysoki. She was a master pick pocket and could throw a sherkin with exact precision at a 50ft range. Laesen took Lysoki under his wing and tried to teach her his philosophy and the art of deception. Lysoki quickly became the talk of the town and was acknowledged as being Laesens personal apprentice. Furson and his now closest friends, Tom, Julie and Billy trained under Laesen as well and in some ways became jealous of Lysoki and Laesen's interest in her. By Furson's 21 first birthday Lysoki turned Laesen's teachings and philosophy into an organization governed by Laesen as a informal head and herself as "the voice of Laesen". Laesen did not like how Lysoki tried to govern that which has no owner but was quiet and tolerant as he was now an old man. Lysoki had gained much support and over time it grew apparent it was too late for Laesen to change what had already begun. Lysoki formed an organized guild with a monarchy type ruling. Laesen was at the head and Lysoki was the law giver. Laesen had enough and told his four original pupils "The day has come!". The day had came when he had enough and planned to put a stop to this manipulation, and would end it through diplomacy. Billy had grown to hate Lysoki and had his own plans for her. Laesen spoke to the people about change and received mixed feedback from his followers. The day became night, the light had become darkness and good was now lost in evil. Billy's plan was manifesting into reality. Billy snuck into Lysoki's room to kill her in her sleep, knowing Laesen would disapprove of these actions, he kept it secret only telling Furson, Julie and Tom. The sun came up awakening the town only to find Laesen had been poisoned with Billy unconscious at the foot of the bed. The town was sure Billy had killed their leader and sought retribution. Lysoki gathered the town and pulled every finger and toe from Billy's body, then his hands and feet, then his arms and so on. All the while she had a cleric keeping Billy alive and conscious to see his body dismembered. The town cheered in a hateful screech, a screech that once was a cheer of joy from the prosperity Laesen had brought them. Furson, Julie and Tom knew the truth of what had happened that night but kept to themselves knowing they would only share Billy's fate. They decided the only way to stay alive was to leave town. Following the rules of the Guild set by Lysoki they went on the "Walk of Profit and Knowledge". They had to leave their guild and go their separate ways until they could find a way to unmask Lysoki as the murderer of their teacher and friend. Julie was the first to leave that day for the thought of Lysoki killing the person who raised her to painful to be around. Tom had stayed to keep Furson from making an assassination attempt on Lysoki as Billy did. Furson returned to the room of his former teacher to pay his last respects and gratitude for all Laesen had taught him. Furson became overwhelmed with emotion, losing his parent for the 3rd time he held the body of Laesen close with tears running down his cheeks. As Furson held the corpse, he removed the necklace Laesen had kept from Furson's childhood. He gripped the locket tight when *snap* the locket broke and fell to the floor in a pile of dust. Furson first was in disbelief knowing the locket was made of pure gold. He examined the locket further to realize it was merely chalk with some sort of metallic paint. "This isn't the necklace I gave Laesen as a child." Furson quickly turned to Laesen's corpse and began to realize "This may not be my teacher at all." thinking back to the legends he had heard about Laesen's disguise abilities as a child. Furson returned to Tom who was waiting for him at outside of Laesen's home. Furson chose to keep the knowledge of Laesen's supposed death to himself. Furson realizing the amount of deception going on at this time he was not sure who he could trust. Tom and Furson went there separate ways. Only to return when they have become powerful enough to sway public opinion and bring justice to Lysoki. On Furson's journey he found himself riding a caravan that was attacked by goblins...
