Hello. One of the characters in my campaign is an annoying little Whisper Gnome named Pumkinhead. Well, Pumkinhead is a little sneaking, untrustworthy spellthief, and thief in general. He is greedy and only really cares about his own well being. He takes his time in combat. If he can tell the fight is possibly too much for the party he hides, and sometimes the fight happens because of something he did. Well, after the party was attacked by an Ettin because he stole from it, then while the rest of the party was trying to save the rogue from being eaten by a roper he hid waiting to see what would happen.

The other characters, a gnome wizard, human rogue, and human factotum, havedecided they have had enough of Pumkinhead and left the keep they were staying in to adventure on their own. So, they leave in the night and teleport away to another land.

Now my problem is I am going to have to make either three people create new characters to keep the party together or make the other guy create a new character. Not completely sure what to do here. Any advise would be great.

If 3 characters are getting along well.... I'll suggest you to keep DMing them... also, if this gnome it's a headache.. the DM him and let him live or die as he wants...

I would continue with the party... and then I'll DM this gnome to know what he's going to do now that they have run away from him. If he continues playing as he was... I know he is gonna be dead soon. If he starts to change because he is going to be kicked in a battle, then you could make both "parties" meet again in some point of your world..

Have a talk with the player. "Listen, your gnome was a wonderful a$$hole, the best anti-hero in ages; a great role-play experience. But the rest of the group would like a little more team-work. So either your gnome has a near-death experience that make him completely change his behavior, either he retires or die and you roll another character. Anyway, I can't keep on DMing both you and the rest of the group when you're even not on the same material plane!"

Why would you even consider ditching the three normal players for one annoying gnome?

You think if the other three make new characters they would somehow get along with the gnome? Really?

The gnome roleplayed an annoying, idiotic coward, and the rest of the party roleplayed as if they had half a brain and left him on his own.
