| DevaNinja09-14-03, 05:14 PM | Has anyone ever thought of or implemented the idea of adding class levels to a magical item? For example, I was thinking about giving a player an intelligent magical item with levels in the sorcerer class or something. in addition to what the item gives the player, he can also use it's class abilities as well. In this case it would give them spellcasting abilities. I was even thinking of it leveling when the character does? Anyone have any thoughts, comments, or suggestions? |

| bjorntfh09-14-03, 07:54 PM | Theoretically, you COULD make an intelligent item that does just what you want. The real problem is it's not different than hiring an NPC, he won't always agree with you. Then there's the item's ego, which will EASILY match any PC. So you're going to have to force it to listen and do what you want it to basically. |

A sword that casts spells as a sorceror, complete with sorceror levels (with some appropriate adjustment) could indeed be seen as just a very interesting sort of cohort. |
