| Grey_Mage09-11-06, 02:56 AM | Well, tired of hearing about how Charisma is considered a dump stat because of the fact that 9/10 times, if not more often, it has no "mechanical" advantage I thought about how to give it one. Its not major, but perhaps enough to give a second thought to it. If anyone has any better ideas, especially ones that have worked in the past, let me know? Also- what do you think? For each -1 Modifier a character has in Charisma ALL NPC's start out as one catagory more unfriendly towards them. For each -2 modifier a character has, their Maximum Positive feelings towards a character is 1 less. This only is in regards to creatures with an Int score greater than 3 of coruse. Any thoughts? |

Sucks to not have Charisma now, doesn't it! Buwahahahahaha! Seriously though, it seems a bit harsh. I never thought of Charisma as any more of a dump stat than any other mental stat. That is assuming you are a fighter. If you are a caster, no mental ability should be a dump stat, really, but that's just me. Charisma already sucks to not have if you have a heavy RP game. If it's not heavy RP...then angering people off just gets you more things to kill, and more XP! |

A bit harsh, IMHO, although I suppose the idea of 'taking an instant dislike to someone' certainly applies. I simply prefer to occassionally force the 6 CHA Half-Orc Barbarian to occassionally have to make a Bluff or Diplomacy check. I recall really catching a player off-guard once as he tried to snowball a guard and I asked for a Bluff check. " ... uh, a what?" "Bluff check. Buh-Luff Chuh-Eck." "But I don't have any ranks in Bluff ..." "I neither designed your character, nor chose your choice of action. Throw that d20, Shotgun." The other fun one is to make everybody give their story, or put in two cents, say if they were witnesses to a crime, and take the worst result for how the stories are taken. ;) |
