| interpretivechaos06-04-06, 07:12 PM | I've heard mention of using the tumble skill to make a ten foot step. I don't know where the rule is, or what the DC is. Anyone know where I can find it? |
| sneak_Blast06-04-06, 07:16 PM | Oriental adventures. DC 40 Tumble Check: Move 10ft. instead of 5ft. in a 5ft-step-action. |
| interpretivechaos06-04-06, 07:23 PM | Thank you very much |
| Crimson_Concerto06-04-06, 09:07 PM | However, it IS 3.0 and has not been reprinted, so make sure to ask you DM before pulling the scout insanity you know you want to. <_< |
| Fargren06-04-06, 09:29 PM | Another way to get a 10ft step is with the Elocater prestige class, in XPH. |
| Nakedfencer06-05-06, 12:06 AM | The PHP 3.5 says (under tumble) Tumble DC Task 15 Treat a fall as if it were 10 feet shorter than it really is when determining damage. 15 Tumble at one-half speed as part of normal movement, provoking no attacks of opportunity while doing so. Failure means you provoke attacks of opportunity normally. Check separately for each opponent you move past, in the order in which you pass them (player’s choice of order in case of a tie). Each additional enemy after the first adds +2 to the Tumble DC. So you can use tumble with a DC of 15 (+ any mods for difficult ground) to move at half speed, so if your base movement is 20 then you could move 10ft without provoking an attack of opportunity, which i guess would be like taking a 10ft step |
| zae06-05-06, 01:17 AM | I've heard that, between Elocater (which gives you an additional 5' swindle every round, IIRC), DC 40 Tumble checks (increases your swindle to 10') and some monk item (I don't know the name or any other details. Any evidence to back me up would be great) that grants another 5' swindle, you could manage 30' of free movement per round. Which would be funny, to say the least. "I make a 30' swindle and full attack the _____!" "I make your spring attack redundant with a pair of 15' swindles!" (or a 10 and 20, or whatever) This would, however, require high levels, multiclassing, and use of non-updated rules. |
| X-Codes06-05-06, 01:40 AM | If you need that silly Tumble rule in order to get Skirmish damage on a full attack then you aren't trying hard enough. :P Greater Manyshot (XPH) allows attacks with skirmish damage as a standard action. Psionic Lion's Charge (XPH) and Lion's Charge (SC) allow a full attack after a charge. Hustle (XPH) gives a bonus move action, and the Marshal (MiniHB) class can grant move actions to other characters. Dervish (CWar) lets you make a full attack on the go with Dervish Dance. Bounding Assault and Rapid Blitz (PHB2) give you more attacks on a Spring Attack. I'm sure theres a few others that I don't know about as well. EDIT: That monk item is some kind of training dummy from the A&EG. Not any better than OA, really. |

ALWAYS CHECK WITH THE DM if you go for a feat-tree with a specific disired result at the end, or be prepared to be bitterly disappointed at blowing all those feats! |

ALWAYS CHECK WITH THE DM if you go for a feat-tree with a specific disired result at the end, or be prepared to be bitterly disappointed at blowing all those feats! If your DM rules against fun little characters that throw dicebags for damage, then play a CoDzilla, the beastly ginormous monster that throws dicebags for damage and can cast Heal. If your DM gets mad at you, ask to retire your character and play a Scout/Ninja/Rogue without the precision-on-first-attack-only rule. |
| babysamurai06-05-06, 09:08 AM | Sparring Dummy of Somethingpranother, from Arms and Equipment Guide. Yeah, that's a killer item for a Monk/Scout. And you don't need to make the DC 40 Tumble check. |

(or a 10 and 20, or whatever)I'm curious as to what dialect of English you're speaking that "step (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=step)" and "swindle (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=swindle)" are interchangeable. Anyway, yeah, it's possible to build a character that can move 30 ft' as a free action, but only if he doesn't take any real move actions that round. Take the Ki Blast feat from PHB II while you're at it. |
| Dag06-06-06, 03:19 PM | It's nice to see that the splat book cheese whizz factory is in high gear pumping out this nonsense for you guys. Have fun with it, must be nice to have a push-over DM who allows such BS in his game. |
| WhiteRaven81006-06-06, 04:35 PM | Sparring Dummy of the Master is in the Arms and Equipment Guide and it allows a Monk who focuses his training on it to take a ten foot step after so many days of training. |
| Vaelan06-06-06, 07:19 PM | If you need that silly Tumble rule in order to get Skirmish damage on a full attack then you aren't trying hard enough. :P Actually, that "silly Tumble rule" is the best way to get skirmish. Scouts get Tumble as a class skill, Dexterity is a priority, and a skill-boosting item can make this a viable option fairly early in a scout's adventuring career without detracting from skirmish progression. All of the other options you have cited, with one exception, are worse in that they aren't as good as a full attack, have limited utility, or require you to take class levels that do not grant skirmish. The Marshal idea is a good one, though. Leadership to get a Marshal cohort is a highly efficient alternative. |
