| MrCustomer08-06-07, 05:15 PM | Basically all these minor Cantrips can be covered with Prestidigitation, which can perform minor tricks, lift items, create small items flavour, color, clean, heat or warm items etc for an hour. The only problem is that it doesn't create tools and couldn't do anything like start a fire etc. So I would suggest another Cantrip that is the same but that can creat a small tool or item (such as a lock pick, or a pen, item lasts 1 hour) or that can start a fire (equivelent to a flint rock) Sharpen a dull weapon, etc, but unlike Prestigitation the spell doesn't stay for an hour but is an instantanious effect, you summon your tool and that's it. |
| OneWinged4ngel08-07-07, 06:10 AM | couldn't do anything like start a fire This is wrong. Creating a small fire is an established use of Prestidigitation, covered in an online WotC article and in Tome and Blood, a 3.0 supplement that had a section expanding on what other "minor effects not expressly listed in the spell" might be possible. That said, most of these effects that people are posting aren't anywhere near worth a cantrip slot, and indeed many (Such as Whinny) can already be done by an existing, better cantrip, if not Prestidigitation. :thumbsdow 17. Protection from rain: Target does not get wet when walking in rain, snow or fog. The spell does not help when one is submersed in a liquid nor protect against direct magical attacks. 18. Protection from insects: grants damage reduction 1/magic against fine creatures and swarms of fine creatures. 19. Shave/depilate: shaves clean the selected part of target's body. Lector: targets a piece of non-magical, non-encoded writing in a language known to caster and reads it aloud. These ones are actually fairly nice! I might consider basing Protection from Insects off of Vermin Ointment (Secrets of Xen'drik) |
| Bone_Yard08-07-07, 12:48 PM | 39) Summon Dehydrated Water (just add water) |
| MrCustomer08-07-07, 01:06 PM | This is wrong. Creating a small fire is an established use of Prestidigitation, covered in an online WotC article and in Tome and Blood, a 3.0 supplement that had a section expanding on what other "minor effects not expressly listed in the spell" might be possible. sorry, I never knew that. However the rules specifically state that while Presigitation can create small items, that they can't be used as tools. And certainly while it could clean a sword, it wouldn't be able to sharpen a sword. Prestigitation can be used for an entire hour to: -Flavour and spice food and drink. -Minor illusions -Heat or cool a meal or drink. -Lift small objects. -Change an objects colour. -Play small magic tricks akin to what street magicians can do. -clean items and areas. -create a pleasing scent (or a bad smell) -create small items (crude and can't be used as tools) -light a fire, brighten a room. and likely a long long list of other uses. basically it's a single cantrip that allows casters to do all sorts of minor stuff. The limit is it can't create a tool or weapon and cannot harm anyone in anyway. If you want better cantrips that do more useful things, like creates tools you can use, I suggest: Paranomilation: Same as Prestigitation, except you can create useful tools, or harm a person for 1 point of damage, instant effect. |
| Omnirahk, half-Rahkshi08-07-07, 08:14 PM | 40) Sunscreen. Protection from sunburns without preventing getting a good tan.
