| Tusalu01-22-07, 12:51 PM | Letīs find some of those more or less classic personalities. 1. The mysterious old mage with hidden talents 2.The paladin turning blackguard 3. A hero 4. Always happy and optimistic CG rogue |
| br1301-22-07, 05:48 PM | 5. A CN sorcerer casting fireballs everywhere. Even if it hits one more monsters, it's okay if it will hit the party. "I'm sure you have high Reflex saves, right?". 6. A dwarf which hates elves. 7. An elf which hates dwarves. 8. A guy dressed in black with deep voice, a mysterious past, vengeance to carry and lack of social skills. 6 and 7 just tend to appear a lot in most fantasy-oriented worlds, at least in my experience. |
| mcnoo01-22-07, 06:08 PM | 9: The monk with no sense of fun 10: The slutty elven bard who's always trying to corrupt above monk Inevitably leading to: "Want to have sex? it'll be fun." "I don't approve" "Of sex?" "Fun." They then copulate. The monk is frowning throughout. |
| Basil_Bottletop01-22-07, 06:39 PM | 11. Ranger raised by Druids, fighter's version of said Druids 12. Tree-hugging hippie elf 13. Drunk Barbarian 14. added to #8 usually a ranger with someone to avenge. |
| stargate52501-22-07, 07:47 PM | 15. the streetwise rogue with no parents 16. an adventurer with no parents |
| Tusalu01-23-07, 02:16 AM | [QUOTE=br13;11258581] 8. A guy dressed in black with deep voice, a mysterious past, vengeance to carry and lack of social skills. [QUOTE] Hey, heīs in my party. |
| JasonOrlandoHawk01-23-07, 01:23 PM | 17. The incredibly mind-numbingly boring wizard who speaks in a flat, monotone voice at all times, no matter what. (One of the funniest characters I've ever played!) 18. The Arrogant Samurai/Fighter/Paladin/High BAB character. 19. The Kleptomaniac Halfling who is worse than most Kender. 20. The Melodramtic Sorceror 21. The Int 3 Half-Orc (irregardless of actual Int score). 22. The Whiny Baby Dragon 23. The Fighter wielding a sword that weighs more than the combined weight of all other gear owned by the party, including steeds. |
| stargate52501-23-07, 03:55 PM | 17. The incredibly mind-numbingly boring wizard who speaks in a flat, monotone voice at all times, no matter what. (One of the funniest characters I've ever played!) hehe, I'm stealing this. |
| Basil_Bottletop01-23-07, 03:55 PM | 24. Uber-powerful magic user with uncanny ability to have the perfect kill-in-one-round spell for the monster at hand. (usually played by DM's girlfriend, wife, boyfriend, husband, etc.) 25. The Druid that is the party's healer, but doesn't realize it. it'll get you killed. 26. The Paladin whose sole purpose is to kill undead, bury corpses, and give last rites. 27. The bard that thinks he's a rogue 28. The rogue that plays like he's the highest BAB fighter 29. The Cleric/Paladin who doesn't let the party do anything "fun". |
| kelvinaw27301-23-07, 04:55 PM | I thought these were character archetypes, not player incapacities ... mind you these can be the same thing. I don't see class as detirminate of archetype, it's about personality. 30: The victim. The character that had something horrible happen to them in their past, and they cannot get over it. 31: The Avenger. As above, but they have dealt with it by getting mad. 32: The Protector. You don't want bad things to happen to other people - usually a knight, paladin or similar. 33: The Child. This character just cannot grow up, and takes nothing seriously. 34: The Brat. As the child, but constantly damanding of others. 35: The Inquisitor. You want to know what makes people tick, and get inside their heads. 36: The Monster. There is something inhuman in you - you usually lack empathy or compassion, and may be sadistic. 37: The Devient. Societies rules are NOT yours! 38: The Survivor. Whatever happens, you grit your teeth and get on with it. 39: The Loner. In the end, we all stand alone. You don't expect anyone's help and you rarely extend it. 40: The Team Player. Come on, we're in this together! You always want to work with others, and are best doing so. 41: The Conformist. You always follow the Rules. 42: The Pedagogue. You live to teach others. 43: The Alpha. YOU are in charge, YOU lead the way - or at least, you should do! 44: The Showboat. Whatever happens, you have to be the centre of everyone's attention. Can't think of any more right now ... |
| JasonOrlandoHawk01-23-07, 05:40 PM | hehe, I'm stealing this. That wizard, Noah Itala by name, was originally rolled up for a one-shot Iron Man game (that I thought I'd never make it back to). Thus, I made him as w/o a personality as possible. Later, the group switched the gaming time, and I could continue to attend, but by that point, his lack of personality was well established. The character ended up being one of the most hilarious characters I've ever run. He typically used two taunts in battle: (After being missed by an attack) "Hmm... Cute. Not wise, but... cute." (Over the course of 2 or 3 rounds, at the start of battle) "Lower your weapons and defenses and prepare to be assimilated. Your technological and magical innovations will be assimilated into my own. Resistance is futile. Resistance always has been, and always will be... futile." Note: Both taunts were spoken in the same trademark monotone voice this character was famous for using. :mage: 42: The Pedagogue. You live to teach others. Thank you! :teach: And on to my next contribution... 45. The Fated: This character is destined to accomplish some particularly important task. |
| High Octane01-23-07, 07:04 PM | 17. The incredibly mind-numbingly boring wizard who speaks in a flat, monotone voice at all times, no matter what. (One of the funniest characters I've ever played!) Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? |
| Count Nerindil Van Seraph01-23-07, 08:45 PM | Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?   |
| kelvinaw27301-24-07, 04:01 PM | 46: The Doomed. This character will die in some terrible way at some point. And they know it. 47: The Hanger-On. This character is innefectual, not very brave, and often a right pain. They are a party hanger-on, barely participating in battles, rarely doing much of any worth but constantly demanding their 'fair share' of loot and experience. 48: The Also-Ran. Often the backbone of a party, the also-ran is rarely appreciated for what they are. They are self-effacing, quiet, rarely get the glory, rarely put in the killing blow, rarely seem to do much ... unblike the hanger-on, they are always in the thick of it, always have something useful to contribute and can always be relied upon. 49: The Conscience. This character is moral, ethical and unswerving. They are the first to point out the rights and wrongs in any situation, and often warn against 'unwise' actions. Often clerics, paladins or monks, they can be either the soul of a party or an unwelcome pest. 50: The Tempter. This character has the moral compass of a snake. He is the first to suggest slipping a convenient knife between somebody's ribs to solve a problem, although he will seldom do much himself. Mostly he just adds comments like: "You know rather than returning the painting we could always get a good price on the black market ..." |
| Count Nerindil Van Seraph01-24-07, 04:15 PM | One of my personal favorites: 51) The Unlikely Hero: Has no idea what is going on. Pushed into his roll by unusual circumstances, and just kind of along for the ride. He usually has a very important part to play, somewhere down the line. Bilbo Bagins. |
| kelvinaw27301-24-07, 04:53 PM | 52: The Innocent. Completely clueless and rarely aware of what evil there is in the world. 53: Jaded Hero. has seen far too much to be horrified anymore, this character nonetheless keeps getting back into the fight to face the foe again, despite his assertion that in the long term they gain little ... 54: The Missunderstood. Something in this person's background has skewed everyone's opinion of them - incorrectly. "Hey, aren't you the Butcher of Clewdale?" |
| metamind01-24-07, 05:07 PM | 55: Teh CG dual scimitar - weilding half Drow |
| kelvinaw27301-24-07, 06:31 PM | 56: The Clone. Tries to immitate other characters and/or characters from books that look cool. 57: The Sex-Fiend. This character is on a constant quest for sex in some form or another ... usually leads to 'ruptured halfling' incidents. 58: The Statue. Does nothing. Says nothing. Utterly wooden in any RP environment. Utterly useless in any other. 59: Uber-man! Total munchkin character optimized and powergamed to hell and back. Usually player cheats like anything and always has to prove how UBER they are. 60: Controller. Nothing goes on without his say-so. Usually has worked out a combat trick nbo-one in the party has thought to prepare against and uses it without hesitation or conscience on any player that defies him. |
