Pretty self explanatory. List names you've seen/ used that are interesting, funny, or stupid. Don't just make up a random name (like fatty mcfatfat) and post it just to say that you contributed. It has to be one that either you or your friends have used before.

1. Twitchet (elf sorcerer)

2. Fetis (elf warmage)

3. Imish (sounds like amish, which is funny, cause its a half-orc barbarian)

I ran Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying adventures in the early '90's; I allowed several non-typical races, and one player used a Troglodyte. He called his character Kermit....

you know, Kermit the Trog.

I had a player in a one-off AD&D session in '84 or so who couldn't decide on his Cleric's name; I suggested any generic fantasy name would do; he decided on "Generic".

I had a orc character in the '90's whose nickname was "the Doglicker".

I'm all out of ammo.....

5. A warmage named Skittles. He had a familiar named Laughy-Taffy. He jumped into a pool of acid 2nd session.

Nevix Astari. My current favorite character. Rogue Wizard going for arcane trickster.

He started as a human man. But died, having failed a reflex save vs black dragon breath, and was reincarnated as a FEMALE elf. (I cheered when this happened, human bonus feat + elf abilities = MAJOR WOOTNESS!!) So he became:

Nevix "Vixen" Astari. And, by sheer coincidence, Nevix is an anagram of Vixen.

But this name doesn't stop there. You see, poor Nevix died again. This time to a failed save VS Fireburst. He's had lots of luck with reflex saves, she has. So, once more to the dreadwood, and he comes back again.

This time as a female HALFLING. And the name evolves from there. He/she becomes:

Nevix "Vixen" Astari, AKA, The Little B*tch.

And he/she's only 4th level.

Well, the only one I can think of is, when we were trying our luck at the World's Largest Dungeon, a player named his human rogue Rhinos Plasty.

That was before he knew what rhinoplasty was.

Not so much career names but more names that they have bin called,
we have a cleric who we have nicknamed fruitcake much to the players annoyance, to be honest were not sure the real name as we see this one as a good "working tittle. Sadly though fruitcake has gone as last session we opened a door. said door did 20 d10 damage to all in the room (reflex 30 half (yeah right) the whole party took 98 damage, (to a party average 11) that fried him and the bard and everyone else had less then 30hp left oh and the best part was it was a dc 40 to find and dc 40 to disarm so itz not like we could disarm it anyway (we even tried going back in time with a the chronomancer but that failed to)

Another story was way back when i first started (a few years back) me and my friend (we were only a party of two at the time) were told to hault and give our names by the town guard, thinking quickly i shouted out, my name... SCAPPY DO!

to this day the captain still calls me by that name

In one group I had to suffer through they had a dwarf with the name "Biervernichter". That's beer annihilator in German. Turns out that was not a nickname, it was the character name on the sheet. The rest of the characters and their playing styles was equally moronic.
One of the guys had the same university class like me, every monday morning. I refused to sit next to him after a while because every week he would annoy me with another story of "how the DM wiped out half the party this weekend". Gah.

The last back-up character I made would have been a cleric named Dietrich Mullner. The funny thing about it was, when the DM saw the name he took out his German coursebook which had one of the characters with the exact same name.

I never even had German, how generic can you get?

In this one campaign, I forget if he was a paladin or not, but one of the guys decided to call his character Silver and his horse High-ho.

When I was in this one pirate campaign I asked the DM if I could get a cohort shark named Pookie (he said no...), so that didn't happen..lol

ETA: I forgot: one of the wizards (who was named Frank The Wizard), had a familiar named Steel Wool..

I was in a forgotten realms campaign, and one of the players was a baker (and owned his own shop, but unfortunately, he borrowed money from the wrong guy and ended up being killed), but he named him self Pills Burry. He was a fat rouge that could talk his way out of anything, and bake like crazy, but unfortunately, the mob just can't be reasoned with.

I also once tried to run a Evil campaign, and we had a Half-Orc monk, who demanded his name be Krusty Krabs. So, we let him keep that, but gave him the STD of Crabs.

A friend of mine once played a halfling rogue named Porblem, spelled just like that.

In a one-shot session, I played character such as Varsus the Average (1st-level human fighter), and Pally McPaladin (1st-level human rogue).

My favourite would have to be Aberdeen Spellfailer. He was a wizard who suffered from ADHD and would sometimes mix up his spells -- while memorizing them. One time he memorized "Ray of Read Magic Missile." That was an interesting session.

My personal favorite has to be the time I went to a Con and played another edition. My character was a "Rogue" called Major Tom Ivor Conned - picked mainly for his initials, my friend had a Cleric character called Neil Down - we eventually fell to the people of Innsmouth (or as it was termed IC "Tavernsmaw")

In the first campaign I was in, we were all new players, and almost everyone rolled up random class/race/gender/god worshipped/etc. A friend ended up with:

"Punch", the gnome cleric of Kord...he had a gambling addiction and couldn't hit a thing. But he did have a tattoo of someone he

We also had Ieva the dwarf ranger, Opra the human sorceress (played by my poor husband), Bontas the half-elf fighter, and "Blue Arrow" the gnome rogue.
Gauze Fireforge

These names were about 15 years ago when I first started playing with my cousins.

The Knight was called Sir Richard the Lion-Farted

This guys first character's name was Elvan. (He was an elf.)
His next character he made was an Half-Orc barbarian. His name was Thock Ew. (BTW this character died after for no reason whatsoever making a listen check while leading about 10 or so orcs, rolling a 1, and well I'm sure you guy have imaginations.)

Folks in my group have always been too cheap to by minis, but when 3rd edition came around, it became almost a necessity. Here's the party we're running now:

Michael "Winecork" McGee - LG Human Fighter 8.

Chapstick McGee - NG Human Cleric of Urbanus 8, and Winecork's sister.

Flashdrive - LN Human Warmage 7/Loremaster 1.

Whiteout - LN Halfling Ninja 8.

Right now they're on the trail of a landwyrm known only as "Swingline." They're outclasses, but ever since Swingline devoured Clothespin the Bard, they've been a bit on edge.

Timmy the Paladin, whose great quest in life was figuring out the last decimal of pi. Alas, his mediocre intelligence was not up for this epic task.

In an earlier campaign his player also created Timmy the Barbarian.

I never got to play either character, but the most goofy names I ever used were Speaker, a Warforged Bard, and perhaps one of my favorite characters I've ever designed, Qualin Bushido, a Kender Samurai.

Also, it's not goofy, but I once had a friend make up a Drow female's name using the given "average" first and last names in the FRCS book, and by chance made a name of one of Elistraee's chosen. But that's more of entertaining.

One of my old favourite PC's was a wizard named "Joe King". A buddy who was in the campaign with me followed suit, naming his character "Keapon Laffin" (which I always thought was less clever, but there you go).

A recent one, for 3.5: "Duerdin Darkforge", which, if you translate to Dwarven, the first name is also "dark forge". He was a crafter of weapons and armor, go figure!

This one I like just because it sounds so thematically appropriate for a Lord of the Rings type game (though it will be used in a straight D&D campaign a buddy of mine is DMing in the near-future).. Chironicus Anaximander Tabaxi.

Here are some from campaigns I have been in over the years. Thankfully none of these were mine:

Dead Meat

Rolf 12 (Yes, he had 11 before Rolf 12 JUST LIKE HIM)

**** Lobber (Think of that scene in Silence of the Lambs where Jodi Foster wipes her self off)

Mengele (Evil. Pure evil.)

Unknown Name (He couldn't come up with a name for 8 gaming sessions. He finally did but everybody still called him that)

Sir Boblobgenugernugertwentytwoeightyonedoom fluberfluberhibbyhobbyningnongsillysolly noonar.

(Sir Bob for short.)

Xerox the bard, so called for his striking resemblence (at first) to a bard who had gone before him.

Tragically, I am in no way joking.

(And no, they weren't my characters; since I got old enough to stop using names like Slashout the Marine (Warhammer FRP), I never have trouble stringing together random syllables for names!)

I think my own worst was when I created a Buffy-style character called Charity Springs...

A buddy who was in the campaign with me followed suit, naming his character "Keapon Laffin" (which I always thought was less clever, but there you go). Keapon Laffin is actually the name of a lesser NPC from the oooold computer game Quest for Glory 3. He's a mage who owns a magic shop in the big city. Was this intentional? If so, your friend pwns. :D

Oh yeah, the one shot halfling rogue. Stabby McBackbiter, quickly renamed Bitey McBackstabber. (If you don't get it, don't ask.) The other players recommended Stabby McStabberson.

I had a high level arena combat druid that I named "Nameless". I got complimented on creativity for that name. I think that says somethin about the guy doing the complimenting. Because I couldn't think up anything better.

I have a couple to add....

Argot Nonees, a dwarf. The player swore up and down that he didn't realize the joke, but he was a great punster, so none of us believed him. The same session also featured a cleric with a scythe named "Sally the Reaper" and another character (don't remember the class for sure, but thinking druid) named Bambi.

I'm currently playing a character named Dallas who has a horse named Christi. I was going for a "Texas" themse, but apparently the TV show "Dallas" had a principal character named Kristy...

Never used, but some day my fiance and I are going to have the all gnome party featuring such gems as the following:
Gnome Chomsky (bard? never really decided)
Schro Dinger, a sorceror with a cat familiar
Ava Gadro, a cleric of the evil gnome mole god from FR (can't remember the name...)

And, finally, I ran a character named Misery for an entire campaign--actually a very serious character.

MC Hammerthoart (Dwarf Fighter)
Zook Ningel Stumbleduck (taken striaght from the PHB for a gnome sorc but it still seems so odd)
Cap. Morgan, Jack Daniels, etc
Phil Lee Cheesesteak

These were all done by the same guy who doesn't like giving names to his characters

One of my friends anytime he plays in an RPG wants to name is character Bob or Frank. Its not really all that stupid, but its annoying and just so ackward.

Before u stands a muscular male human, standing an impressive 6 feet tall, wielding a greatsword. He dawns full plate armor and his name is..... Bob!

Doesnt it just ruin a decent visual?

Professor Wreak Havok, for an archeologist. That character was attracting trouble without looking for it... most of the artifacts he was studying were ending destroyed, damaged and/or missing. Infortunatly, beside his bad luck, he was one of the best archeologist in the world.

Was playing a Half-Orc barbarian. He had a 10 int.

DM decided to randomly roll a event that happened to us before coming into the game.

First roll was d%, and hit a 100, meaning pick 2. I was quite excited.

He rolled 2d20 for the source book, both landed on BoVD.

He rolled 2d20 for what from the book, both landed on disease.

He rolled 2d20 for what kind of disease, and both hit warp touch.

He rolled 2d20 again and got the 'Head deforms, -3 int' result. Twice.

So, after rolling the dice myself to make sure they weren't cursed or something(watching someone roll 2 d20's and get the same numbers 4 times in a row is nuts), I ended up with a 4 int barbarian.

DM said that the event should be reflected in our name.

And thus was born:

Dain Bramage

(might take you a minute to get that one. :P)

A friend and I were writing up a one-shot adventure for D20 modern with pre-made characters to run for a group in our gaming club.

We used an online random name generator and thus was born. . .
Roxy Boomstallion and Butch Longhorn , the Texas cops with a bad attitude (no joke)

In later games members of the Boomstallion family kept showing up.

Kylljoy - half-orc barbarian, barely sentient. Also ironically hilarious.

An NPC dwarf fighter named Thoraxe the Impaler. He had a habit of shouting "Thoraxe Impales All!" everytime he crits.

Also my brother couldn't think of a name for his cleric... at the time we were listening to the "Eric the half-a-bee" song from Monty Python. The result - Eric the Cleric.

My(disgruntled) DM had thrown a megladon(MMII,Its a big shark, basically)at our 8th level party. I was the party wizard, and the first to be attacked, and bitten.I had low HP do to LOW hitpoints and TERRIBLE constitution. I was mutalated, then reincarnated by a certain druid. As a shuagin(custom table). From that moment on, I was known as Chomped.

I always wanted to play a warforged who called all non-constructs "meatbags" and was named "Bender"

Anyway, I managed to get away with a gnome artificer named Brimbleflock Saldog. It was funny to say out loud and was sadly pretty accurate of a gnome name.

I named one of my current characters Brane. It wasn't until I started writing his background that I realized it was a cruel name to give a half-orc barbarian with Int 7. (For a while, I tried to say that it was pronoucned "bra-nay," but even I kept saying "brain" anyway.)

Umm... here's my PCs, they're all retired and were some of my favorites:
Zojore(Human Barbarian/Ranger/Wizard)
Jamkas(Human Barbarian Prince)
Garoro(Human Ranger)
Issotia(Elf Wizard)
Is'tiai(Half-elf Wizard)
Nysietia(Greek Human Fighter/Gladiator)
and last... Theraius(Ranger/Dragon Slayer)
they were all generated using the name generator on Rinkworks, it is REALLY COOL, does anybody agree with me that a name helps influence a sucessful PC?

Bimpnottin Ningel 'Aleslosh' Thingelwhip Duvamil Fuzzlbottom the Gnome Giant Slayer was one of my friends characters. Ale if she was sober, Slosh if she wasn't. She also wore stilts to fight giants more effectively and ended conversations by banging cymbals together, and then would set something on fire. That's how most of the characters were like in my campaigns.

My half-celestial aventi paladin was named Naliatha Usmarin. Naliatha comes from a list of aventi names in Stormwrack, but Usmarin is a play on 'US Marine' since she is effective on land, sea, and air.

In my last campaign, our fighter was named M.F., and the elven telepath was named Essdagnir - which is Elven for 'elf-slayer' (he had roleplaying reasons).

Elvan Presley -elf thief

Foolish Mortal-I'm not kidding. In one campaign i led, I had a god call a player (a human) a foolish mortal (a huge cliche, i know). And then the other PCs started calling him this too, as a joke. And it stuck.

Here are a few for you...
1. Kawfee- (Pronounced like the wonderful drink we all need to survive school/work) In an Amber campaign I was in for a while my character was named this. I was surprised it lasted for a whole month considering our game master.
2. Twinkle Toes- Currently the name of a flamboyant member of the pirate ship my character is the 1st mate of
3. Blockhead- Again, this is another one of the members of the ship but what makes this so funny to me is that Charlie Brown (From the Peanuts) was constantly called a blockhead by Lucy.
4. Dog Face- When the whole pirate idea came about, it was to get my new character into the campaign my brother runs. I wanted to be on a pirate ship but my brother (who is into a lot of details) wanted names for every one in the boat. This was one of the names we used to call a girl I knew from junior high school (wow that was a long time ago!). I can't believe I even remember it...
5. Sticky Spells- Why would any self-respecting wizard allow himself to be called this? I don't know. All I know is a funny name for a queer little wizard aboard a pirate ship!
6. Borovich- Ah no pirate ship is complete without the token Russian Barbarian!

What a coincidence ! I once played a warfoged bard1/fighter3 named Proktor that were the cohort of a sorecerer of mine. He had a speaker on his shoulder that every time tha he enter in batle starts playing a techno beat! He was so cool that one of the other players wanted a warfoged cohort too. He made a small warfoged rogue named Gimp. Together Proktor and Gimp saved the skins of our Pcs a few times and even had a one shot encounter vs. a earth elemental! They realy stealed the spotlight.

Alright, back in the day in second edition my friend had a Elf Wizard that he named...
Spuji.

Later on when our DM introduced his own wild magic chart, my friend rolled a d100 to see what effect happened to him. His result: "roll 1d4 and add that many letters to your name". He then rolled a 3, and the DM decided that his name is now... Spuji-Dhu.

In the group we're currently running, there's a half-orc named Kronk Cheemin (think "Crunchy man").

A few campaigns ago, we had a character that was just called "Tim". The DM asked him if the player was serious, and when he nodded, the DM let out a groan of "what are you doing?"

In a group we're starting soon, we've got a character nicknamed "Captain Flagon".

In the same campaign, we've got a half-ogre nicknamed "Mr. Splat".

We also had a character named "Squishy" for a one-shot. The DM took the gorge idea from Natural Selection and made it into a race, and the player thought Squishy was the perfect name.

Halfling wizard, who was in the habit of wearing ostentatious clothing. His name?

Pippin N. Teezy

Oh, and an NPC wizard named Timothy Revor. Bonus points for getting that one.

One of my players names his elf Rhinathiöl.

Well, it's fun only if you know that "nasa rhinatiol" is a medecine (for the nose) in Europe. ;)

See ya.

He should've named the rogue Gamble.
