| Pyritefoolsgold08-10-05, 05:10 PM | Oops... I think I meant this for the DM board... could I get it moved? |
| SodaGuy08-10-05, 05:24 PM | Good list so far. :) |
| Fanged Fremont08-10-05, 05:52 PM | Wizards would kill for the 10,000 page book. They would pay in blood. |
| Pyritefoolsgold08-10-05, 06:01 PM | Okay, maybe make it just 1000. And not the right kind of stuff to be a spellbook. |
| Khal Khalash08-10-05, 06:04 PM | 26: A needle that is always threaded with strong black thread. 27: A sheet of paper that can be written on numerous times, and erased simply by shaking vigorously. |
| Khal Khalash08-10-05, 06:05 PM | Seriously, though, these are varying shades of really neat to just plain great. Exactly the sort of thing that characters like to find, and hang to instead of just sell in the next town. |
| Pyritefoolsgold08-10-05, 06:29 PM | 28: A saddle made to throw off anyone but the owner. 29: A suit of clothes that changes into any type of clothing you want. 30: A bell that, when rung while in a boat on the ocean, calls dolphins and whales to the surface. 31: A little town full of carefully carved figurines, that move and interact with each other. (alternatively, magically shrunken people) 32: A magical collar that compels the animal it's put on to dance at a command word. (could be used on humans.) 33: A glass model of a building that can be made to appear as a model of anything. 34: An easel that paints the image in your head. 35: A pair of wedding rings that always let one person know the location of the other. 36: A sundial that miraculously works sans sun. 37: A pair of dentures that weld themselves to your jaw and take every appearance of real teeth. 38: Arrows and crossbow bolts that turn into paint the moment before impact. 39: A pair of gloves that wash dishes for you. 40: A plate that always keeps the food on it warm and fresh. |
| Radijs08-10-05, 07:07 PM | Once again I find a treasure trove full of neat things and several really brilliant things. |
| Pyritefoolsgold08-10-05, 07:43 PM | Woot, I'm on a roll! 41: A snowglobe shaped crystal ball that shows a permanent image of the owners hometown in real time. 42: A bouncy ball of magical light for children to play with 43: A bell that only a person attuned to it magically can hear. 44: A forge linked to the elemental plane of fire. 45: A small slab that projects it's user's image over long distances to a similer slab. 46: A book that fills itself with descriptions of whatever it's owner experiences. 47: A bookshelf with shelves that look 3' wide, but in extradimensional space are actually 10' wide, and cicular, and roll on wheels. 48: A small cage for collecting specimens that keeps them full, generates water, and makes sure they get enough air. 49: A book that, as you write in it, generates an illusory world filled with illusory people to match your descriptions. The illusory world is activated by touching the small picture of the world at the front of the book. (yes, that is a reference to myst.) 50: A small cushion that darts under anything you accidentally drop on the floor. |

(could also be a major artifact if it actually contains a multiverse.) 66: A cloak capable of moving as an extension of it's wearers will. (thus the cape can be blowing dramatically even if there is no wind.) 67: A set of garden tools that dig, till, and water a garden on their own. 68: A helmet that stores the memories of victorious battles fought by it's wearers and then plays them back at a command word. 69: A feather duster that dusts by itself. 70: A Baby's crib that sends a telepathic signal to it's parents if anything goes wrong. I dunno why so many of these are coming to me now. [edit] I renumbered them. |
| Pyritefoolsgold08-11-05, 03:49 AM | I thought of some more. 71: A sleeping bag sized mat that projects a cushion of air above it, which you can lay on or walk over soundlessly. 72: A tiny sailing ship that actually navigates, and can sail around rivers. 73: A tiny band of figurines that play music, which is magically amplified. 74: A piano that expertly plays itself. 75: A lap harp that can make the sounds of any instrument. 76: A walking stick that automatically smoothes out any dirt (or otherwise malleable) path ahead of you. 77: A tiny dragon figurine that flys around and eats flies out of the air. 78: A librarians index book that automatically knows what books have been checked out or checked in, and automatically adds new aquisitions. 79: A library book that, if kept for too long, simply fades away and reappears in the library. 80: A hamptster cage that is only 4" by 8" by 6", but is extradimensionally 3'X3'X3' with a number of ramps and tubes and things. A wine skin that can produce up to 1 gallon of fine wine per day (unlimited charges, but only 1 gallon per day). 85. An unmovable object-saying the command word within 5' of the object automaticly locks the object to whatever is touching it. The object may not be lifted or moved at all. Repeating the command word allows the object to be moved. Saying the command word 3 times within 5' of the object makes the object unmovable for 2 hours (it then reverts to the movable status until the next time the command word is spoken). |

| Rathje08-11-05, 08:51 PM | My players will love this. Thank you. I'll bookmark this and see if I can think of anything on Monday. I'm gone for the week-end. |
| Loren Pechtel08-11-05, 11:58 PM | Self-cleaning, self-mending clothes. The self-packing bag. Once you pack something in it it's attuned to how it was packed, this lasts until the bag is emptied and repacked in a different fashion. Any object attuned to the bag which is dropped or tossed aside will be cleaned, mended and returned to it's proper spot in the bag. Breakable items will not break from hitting things when treated this way. Note that giving away an item removes this attunement. |
| Vexsom08-12-05, 02:00 AM | 107: (item i used in a game as part of treasure) Book of ebonics. (if someone attempts bardic knowledge on the item then it is part of an old lore that involves a young elven swordsmen and a human necromancer named DJ skeets-a-lot) The book automatically teaches you language: ebonics. 108: bread of endless hardness, a loaf of bread that can be used as if it were a rock of equal size. 109: Spell book of constant melting (this is more of a cursed item really). It appears to hold 10000 pages, but when you fill it beyond 100, each bit of print slowly melts out. 110: mechanical chimp of handicapped bane. Upon first use, the chimp seems to identify and assist anyone in a mile whom is handicapped. Once the chimp has acted for 24 hours, it begins to morbidly attack the handicapped he assisted in their sleep. Lather, rinse, repeat. |
| Nurgan_the_drunked08-12-05, 07:18 AM | 90)a compass that always points to the nearest source of fresh, drinkable water 111) A compass with several different needle, indicating drinking water, civilisation, dangerous monsters, magical sources and just plain ol' North. The needles extend, getting longer as the source in question gets closer 112) An envelope that, when closed and an address or name written on the front, empties itself, and a normal envelope containing the enclosed letter appears at the address 113) cutlery that cuts and feeds your food for you |
| vrmh08-12-05, 11:51 AM | 114) A small gem that allows the owner to cast dancing lights, ghost sound and prestidigitation once a day, for the embarrassed Gnome with a charisma score below 10. Or a similar item for other races with spell-like abilities. |

| ChaosSaber08-13-05, 12:39 AM | 115) A clock-like device with hands bearing the names and faces of people the owner knows. Instead of hours, the clock has regions labelled "at home", "at work", "at school", "gone fishin'", "mortal danger", etc. The hands for each person point to their current location/situation. Adding a hand requires a hair from the person it is to represent, and takes two days to complete. Yes this is a Harry Potter knock-off. It was a cool idea, dammit! 116) Bed of Healing - Anyone who rests on this exceptionally-soft bed for 8 hours or more awakes with full HP, and is healed of all ability damage, level drain, poison and nonmagical disease. 117) Safe Wallet - This ordinary-looking leather coin purse of wallet will always teleport back to its owner's pocket within seconds of leaving their person. The only way to lose it is if the owner intentionally takes it out and puts it down. If the owner's clothes or gear do not have any pockets, then it appears at the owner's feet, and will no longer teleport to its owner. Once it has been left behind, anyone who picks it up becomes its owner, until they put it down again. 118) Wandering Mole - This fine ooze-like creature, when placed on someone's face, attaches itself there, appearing to be a (rather large) mole. From time to time, the mole will relocate to another part of the face. Yes, this is a movie rip-off. |
| Pyritefoolsgold08-13-05, 04:26 AM | I was worried when I put the pen that takes dictation that people would start with the Harry Potter refferences. |
| Earthcrosser59908-13-05, 04:48 AM | 119) Shoes that stay clean and don't collect dirt or mud. |
| The_Rose08-13-05, 01:06 PM | 120. The Eternal Fire of Zip This small metallic object (no larger than a gold piece) appears to be rectangular and smooth. When activated (by the user flipping open the top of the object and pressing a concealed switch), a flame of roughly an inch spouts from the uncovered area. This flame can be used to ignite anything that is flammable, requiring a touch attack, and dealing 1d6 fire damage to a non-flaming target. It can be used at a range of 20 feet, but throwing it carries a 20% chance (80-100 on a d%) of exploding, doing 1d6 of fire damage to any adjacent creatures. Yes, it's a Zippo, or as close to it as I could get 121. The Ring of Dwarven Constitution A character wearing this simple band gets a +10 on any constitution saves against becoming drunk. 122. The Ring of the Forgetful A character that wears this ring is always reminded of any items that they wish to bring, or any tasks they wish to accomplish before setting out on their next adventure. How awesome would this be? Realizing that you forgot your project at home before you even left for school? |
| EternalSeeker08-13-05, 03:35 PM | yeah a lot of my stuff was harry potter inspired/ nock off's. lol but hey those books are full of usable neat everyday magic items |

Some (3%) of these tapestries change scene when the face of waldo is touched 124: vase of stasis: this clear glass or crystal vase keeps whatever herbs/plants/flowers placed inside it perpetually fresh and crisp, as though they are in stasis more to come... Is this a typo or is there something about snow I'm not aware of? (Admittedly I live where snow is an occasional curiosity, nobody owns snow equipment.) |

It could be cooking, cleaning, etc. or something completely different for a drow. It does the same thing for a female except that it appears to be a male. Each is designed specifically for one person. 129. Ward of Privacy: This thin plastic sheet blocks all forms of scrying. It is typically found surrounding the showers and baths of important female wizards. However, male wizards have use for this as well. 130. It has other uses besides pen palling. 131. Fork of Cleaving: If the user decides to pig out the fork actually lets the user eat faster and more than they can usually. | ShadowDragon868508-23-05, 03:00 AM | 162. Heroic Cape. Despite the name, this is actually a mantle. It's a Wondrous Item that dosen't use up a location. It always changes style to complement any cape you're wearing. Whenever you're not doing anything in particular, it causes your cape (if any) and hair (if any) to blow heroically and dramatically. |

| Taim Kelrathos08-23-05, 11:07 PM | 182: A Handkercheif (sp?) of Cleanliness - Can be rubbed on any object to remove unsightly stains, as seen by the user. Also always smells pleasently of lilacs, to a degree that women enjoy it, but men's masculinity isn't threatened by using it. Fun thing, I used this in a campaign for the losers in a tournament. But the winner, despite he won One Million Gold Pieces and became a walking armory (a halfling paladin that had straps on his armor for extra weapons), literally lamented the fact he didn't have one of the handkercheifs. |
| nyaif3608-24-05, 05:15 AM | i have already started planning how to make alot of this (some of it i would actually find uses for in combat) and i would also like it to be known that some of this stuff is in the dmg and other various books. |

The Stone of Calling This small stone items (available in a wide variety of shapes and colours) ome in pairs and can be used to indicate a desire for contact. When the paired stone is activated, your stone will emit a loud sound to alert you to your friend's desire. The sound will be vary, being utterly unpredictable between activations however the special enchantment will ensure two things: - you will think it sounds great - anyone else hearing it will find it irritating and/or infantile Now to help you recover from that... This one was inspired by the recent discussion on the LGDMs yahoo group Squirrel's Cape Much favoured by the followers of Zagyg, these brightly coloured capes are tailored for squirrels and emit a variety of magical auras. In addition to keeping the squirrel comfortable, the capes are enchanted to stay on the squirrel they are given to, keep themselves clean and undamaged and wave dramatically in the wind without hindering their wearer. Althought he animals seem unconcerned, Druids have been very distressed lately by the recent appearance of cloaks tailored to other wild animals as well as amulets and other jewellery. CL and aura various. Craft Wondrous Item. ?Nystul's Magic Aura, Prestidigitation. |

| Mock2608-31-05, 04:07 AM | 192. A set of six small tubes that are 6" long and taper from 1" diameter down to 1/4". Youl hold it like you would a telephone and anyone can speak to all and hear all of the six Phonic Tubes. They have a range of 1 mile outdoors and about 100' in a dungeon. 193. A backpack that reduces the weight of anything in it by 1/2. It won't hold more than a regular backpack, it just seems lighter. 194. Rope of untying. Any simple knots tied in it will become undone if the command word is spoken while holding the rope. 195. Pan of Frying. A self heating frying pan that can get red hot yet the handle always stays cool. This can also be used to heat your bath! 196. Translation pendant. This pendant has a compartment that can hold up to six human-sized teeth. Any tooth of a particular race that is put in will allow the wearing to speak that racial language fluently just like the person who's tooth it was. 197. Shrinking bag. This is a large sack that will shrink itself and its contents down to the size of a small dice bag. Weight, however, stays the same. 198. Spyglass of farseeing. This is just like a regular spyglass but has 4x the range. 199. Ring of cooling. This ring creates a field of magically cooled air around the wearing that reduces the normal air temperature by up to 30 degrees. 200. Folding bed. This is a king sized canopy bed that can fold down to the size and weight of a medium sized book. (I actually created this for a character who loathed the idea of sleeping on the ground!) |
| phoen77708-31-05, 04:36 PM | This is great. Some of the things I have seen here are brilliantly useful, some are hilarious, and some are both. Here are some of mine. Noble's Garb of Vanity: A full suit of fancy, possibly gaudy clothes. They magically repel all forms of grime and damage, remaining perfectly clean, dry, and unharmed at all times so that they always appear brand new. They also fit perfectly no matter who wears them, and their enchantment extends over the wearer's head, preventing any smudging of make-up, staining of teeth, and mussing of hair. The perfect clothing for the image-conscious noble, these clothes are also available in much more expensive versions that change appearance in keeping with the current fashions. Glutton's Pendant: This small silver pendant is usually inscribed with the image of a thin person standing by a heavily laden dinner table. The wearer of this pendant will not become overweight from habitual overeating. Great for anyone that likes to eat. Wasteless Ring: Any living being wearing this simple iron ring no longer produces or needs to eliminate...er...biological waste products. |

| janusthinker09-01-05, 02:22 AM | 1) Agreed, which (admittedly in an immature fashion) amuses me. 2) I do, for the sake of amusement. 3) Sadly, it's much less funny if it must be spelled out and then explained. Clearly, I have failed in my attempt at immature humor and must return to serious discussion (or at least as serious as discussion of a fantasy roleplaying game gets). |

| Always-Late09-01-05, 09:55 PM | This actually might be really useful. The marble of dramatic music. This marble produces music to match what the hero is doing, as if in a movie. However, the music is exceedingly quiet. The marble must be placed in the ear to hear any music at all. Basically, if you're walking down the street on a sunny day, and suddenly the happy music changes to ominous music, you draw weapons. But it's even better if the ominous music causing you to draw a weapon actually causes the unhappy incident. |
| Rathje09-02-05, 04:16 AM | My players went to the arcanist today for the sole reason of checking out his non-combat stuff. The previous session he sold them the dragon that eats flies. Now they got a bunch of stuff, including four capes that move according to the wearer's will, a Tapestry of Waldo, the glove that charms bird to landing on it and eating, and the arrows and bolts that turn into paint. I quote: "This stuff is awesome! This is the most fun I've ever had!" Yes, it's exaggerating. But it still felt awesome. Thank you for this thread, it has improved my game endlessly. |
| Pyritefoolsgold09-02-05, 07:23 PM | Sweet! four of my items got in your game! that just feels awesome. lets see here... 203: The lost lover's kiss: two small boxes of chocholates, always sold as a set. Whenever lovers part, they each take one box, and eat one chocholate from the box of their love. From that point on, whenever one eats a chocholate from the box, they experience the feeling of a passionate kiss from their beloved. Boxes come with a variety of flavors, and sizes, some have but five, while others have fifty. Some boxes have been enchanted to provide... Other sensations shared between lovers, but these are much more expensive. 204: A water bottle or bowl that collects moisture from the atmosphere, so that your pets never go thirsty. 205: Voicebottle: This simple bottle, when spoken into, will capture every word spoken. It must then be capped immediately. When it is next opened, the exact words at the exact volume will be emitted from it. It can produce a room-filling shout, or a whisper. It is also often used for capturing the cries of strange beasts. After the bottle has been opened, any message inside it escapes, and it must be spoken into again to make a new one. 206: Box of a hundred voices: This simple wooden box with a hinged lid also has a small crank and a tiny window that reads numbers 1 through 100. Each full rotation turns the number up one, while rotating back turns it down one. If the lid is opened, it will store any sound that would be audible to human ears. Once closed, the sound can be played again whenever the lid is opened. A sound can be erased from the box by turning it upside down, while it is open, and shaking it roughly. Each number can hold one sound, each lasting up to ten minutes. Often called a "Songbox" because of travelling bards who use it to store the songs of various destinations that they visit. 207: Solid Flame: This substance, of clay-like consistancy, moves like fire, looks like fire, and acts like fire, but it does not burn, require fuel, or go out. You can form it into balls, and juggle it, or use it to light a path, or throw it to light something far away. However, it never prodices light better than that made by a torch. That's all I've got. More later... Maybe. I want to know if any more of these show up in people's games! My self esteem demands it! |

If the owner of a doll holds it and concentrates on it he will sense whatever the doll can see & hear. If both owners activate their dolls at the same time they will be fully activated--both dolls become an exact replica of the other person and transmit all sensory information, overriding whatever their senses would normally perceive. They also are animated, exactly reproducing the actions of the person they are a model of. The dolls remain active until either party wills the link to end or until someone's physical body takes lethal damage or is driven unconcious by non-lethal damage. (Note that they will not be aware of non-lethal damage as all their senses will be in the doll.) If an activated doll is injured the person animating it is also injured. The activated doll has all the stats of the animator but it doesn't gain any benefit from any magic other than stat boosts and does not possess any items the animator has. The doll is capable of combat to a limited degree--the animator would in actuality be making the same actions in his own unseen environment and could very easily run into things. Remote spellcasting is impossible. |

| Always-Late09-04-05, 01:49 PM | Okay, some of these aren't minor, but I think they're fun. 210: Crystal Hammer: When you lightly strike an inanimate object with it, it deals damage as a +1 large adamantine warhammer. 211: Bag of communism: Four bags of holding that open into one space. Something put in one of the bags can be taken out by any of them. 212: Jacket of Holding: The pockets hold 1 cubic feet of stuff. 213: Box of Creation, Lesser. If a piece of paper with a drawing of something on it is placed in the box and the box is closed, the next time the box is opened whatever was drawn appears inside. Note that the box will attempt to produce the cheapest possible interpretation. (If you try to draw a glowing +5 greatsword, a letter opener with light cast on it will appear.) 214: Magician's Orb: This small crystal ball can hover in its owner's hand and change appearance at the caster's will (burst into flames, change color, the whole gamut) so long as it looks like an orb. |
| OctoberRaven09-04-05, 11:19 PM | Doll of 6 Random Phrases: Says one of six random quotes when triggered. Has d20 "charges". Doll of 6 Random Insulting Phrases: Cursed Item. Appears to be a Doll of 6 Random Phrases, but whenever you attempt to speak you say one of six random insults in the language of the person you are speaking to (or if speaking to multiple persons, a common language or a language the majority know) regardless of whether you could speak the language normally or not. Insults include: "You smell like an Orc's backside", "I enjoyed sleeping with your significant other", "I will gladly befoul the temples of your God" and three others that are the DM's choice. You can resist this with a Will save (DC 23). Fish of Babel: While this fish is in your ear, all speech you hear is in Common or any other language you desire. (Okay, this is from the Hitchhiker's books, but that would still be a great item to have) |

It also uses the silent image spell to create an image of wings made of swirling smoke protruding from the users body. If the smoke does, at any point, come into contact with something, the section of smoke that was touched dissapates. The smoke will then reapparate 3 seconds after the object touching it is removed. Lol was gonna do this with a permanency spell at one time just because of how cool it would look to have wings made of smoke :D |
| CJDragon10-30-05, 09:04 AM | 215) Pocket of the cheap magi: The pocket to a mundane item of clothing has been magically enchanted to pick up any dropped money. For all them mages who don't want to look cheap by bending over to pick up 1cp they find, but are secretly cheap enough to want it. 216) Teddy Bear of Awww: A small bear that is magically made realistly alive, though not quite sentient. Can only call one rabbit at a time, and the rabbit must be put back to make it work again. Has no magical aura while the rabbit is out of it. 220) Glasses of Clarity: These glasses never fog up when the wearer goes from a cold enviroment to a hot one (which is really annoying) 221) Sweatband of Dryness: While worn this band stops the wearer from sweating and from needing to sweat. All them annoying pit-stains are gone, and you look like your struggleing less in sporting events ("Look, he hasn't even broke into a sweat yet!") 222) Book of Time-Saving Idiocy: This book automatically converts anything written in it into the most space effective form (u r gonna go 2 d shop 2day 2 get cheez n crakrz 4 dina). Rubic's Prismatic Cube. On each face of this cube there are nine squares, randomly colored red, blue, yellow, green, orange, and white. Twice per round a character can change the order of the colors. The colors start at a % of correct completion. Twice per round a character can change the order of the colors, if the character succeds at a DC 15 Intelligence Check changeing the colors increases the correct completion percentage by 4%, failing decreases the correct completion by 8%. Failing an Intelligence chack can never bring completion below 0%, and Succeeding can never bring completion above 100%. If the completion percentage reaches 100% the faces can be activated to provide a number of services. The white face can cast cure minor wounds with 9 charges. The red face can cast cause minor wounds with 9 charges. The blue face can cast create water with 9 charges. The orange face can summon a good meal with 9 charges. The green face can cast mage hand with 9 charges. The yellow face can cast mend with 9 charges. Once every charge has been used up the Rubic's Prismatic Cube resets itself at 0% completion. |

| Word Salad11-10-05, 03:45 AM | 244: Deiana's Security Blanket The elven child-sorceress Deiana, who manifested her powers at a remarkably young age, created this item out of a need for security and comfort. Resembling a fluffy, pastel-green child's blanket, Deiana's Security Blanket can be pulled to completely cover any creature up to Large size. When covered, the person inside is kept warm and safe - all but the most wicked cold is kept out by the security blanket, no sound passes out or into the blanket, and despite the lumping, any creature with hostile intentions toward the being nestled under the blanket perceives it as an empty, crumpled-up kid's blanket. The effect lasts for eight hours and can be used once per day, giving a person a full night's sleep, but all the corners must be tucked under the covered person's body, and any action other than lying prone and sleeping disturbs the cover of the blanket and ends the effect. 245: Shiftspice Shiftspice is a spice mined in Limbo and distributed as candy through the rest of the planes. Often packaged in paper packets, shiftspice resembles multicolored sand, and is consumed by licking one's finger, dipping it in the spice, and licking it off. Each lick tastes like something different - either familiar or not - and each packet contains eight to ten licks. (stolen mercilessly from Planescape: Torment. I wanted the food from that game.) 246: Alysa's Comfy Carpet Alysa, a human sorceress and talented hostess, created the comfy carpet as a means of making any accomodation, from a barren cave to a marshy wetland camp, more comfortable and homelike. The carpet is fifteen feet by fifteen feet, oval, and woven with patterns of black on red. It is extremely plush and pleasant to walk on. When spread over a floor or ground area, the comfy carpet renders that area perfectly flat and smooth. Small stones, spikes, pits and imperfections in ground quality are effortlessly smoothed away, and even small slopes or pits/jags of up to three feet in depth/height are made smooth under the carpet. Laying it on marshy or wet ground makes a flat, hard, dry space, though if the ground is too wet to support the weight of the comfy carpet, it sinks and becomes unusable until it dries. If laid over an uneven or more sharply sloped surface, the carpet will attempt to even it out as best it can, rendering steps or laying along the slope and smoothing it out. Any slope beyond forty-five degrees is beyond its ability. 247: Easy-Shave Razor Easily the discerning female adventurer's most important item, the easy-shave razor is less a razor and more of a small, semi-organic construct. It resembles a hand-razor (like the kind you buy in supermarkets), and is animated to give a clean, close shave, never go dull, never give any nicks or cuts, and secrete a soothing skin lotion in its path. It cannot be used to deal damage, and any attempt to do so only results in a comfortably hairless patch of skin where the razor passed over. 248: Crystal of Thought Detection (baby) The crystal of thought detection (baby) is a palm-sized crystal sphere with a flat, smooth edge. When held against a baby's forehead, it speaks aloud the baby's desire, or what is bothering it enough that it has to keep CRYING and CRYING for TWO HOURS STRAIGHT DAMNIT I NEED TO GET TO SLEEP. 249: Crystal of Thought Detection (cat) Like the crystal of thought detection (baby), the cat crystal speaks aloud the desires or irritations of cats, so you know what the hell they're after when they won't stop running in front of your feet and meowing at you even though you just gave them food, let them out and rubbed their damned feline necks. THis crystal also has another use: when held to a cat's forehead, it allows limited one-way communication with the cat, useful for telling it that it's not getting four plates of food today or that you can't turn off the rain so it can go outside. 250: Bag of Currency This bag resembles a small, black leather wallet, but has the properties of a bag of holding. The bag of currency has a potentially unlimited storage space, except for one thing: it only holds money. This is not the bag of currency's most valuable property, though. There is a number printed on the exterior of the bag, representing how much money is stored inside. If the number is touched and another form of currency spoken (such as silver pieces, or copper commons, or barbarian shark-tooth strands, et cetera), it changes to represent that amount. The translation between currencies is always flawless. The holder of the bag of currency can withdraw any amount of money from the bag, in the currency represented by its number, so long as it does not exceed the number printed, and the number immediately shifts to represent this "withdrawl". Useful to adventurers who keep finding piles of thousands of copper coins in dragon hordes for some reason. 251: Ambulatory Alarm Clock The ambulatory alarm clock resembles a timepiece, and keeps perfect time. There is, however, two extra arms that can be set to the hour and minute. When a button atop the alarm clock is pressed, the alarm will set, and when the time the second pair of arms are set to is reached, it blares a loud, hideous siren, intended to wake up whoever set it. If it blares for more than five minutes, however, the ambulatory alarm clock is designed to take extra measures. Tiny arms and legs pop out of the wooden case, and the clock peers around, detecting any sleeping creatures nearby. It walks up to the sleeping creatures and attempts to wake them, first gently (tugging on their clothes, ruffling their faces), then violently (shaking them around, blaring its siren in their ear, hitting them, etc). Extreme versions carry small water compartments so that they can mist or shoot water into their grumpy master's face. Sadly, these versions often don't last too long. |
| kajinoryu11-10-05, 05:25 AM | Hammock of Resting - A character may hang this hammock in the air, as they would a normal hammock. Anybody who spends 8 hours resting in a hammock of resting heals as if they were one level higher (a 5th level character heals 6 hp per day instead of 5). The hammock also reduces the time to reduce fatigued status in half and offers a +2 circumstance bonus on checks involving strenous activites performed in the next hour. |

| BeyondFated11-10-05, 01:49 PM | 247)Tenser's Floating Platter-This platter, when loaded with some time of food, will float around at the wielder’s whim. If directed, by the owner concentrating on it, it may move up to 5ft per round. If left to it's own devices, it will float it a 5ft wide circle, at approximately 1ft per round. When it is near emptied, or after a certain period of time, the plate will return to a designated spot, usually a kitchen. 248)Melf's Make-up Remover-This small jar holds a indefinite supply of cream that, when applied to the skin, will remove any make-up. It takes a full round action to apply the cream to the face. Doing so provides a +1 bonus to disguise checks, but only if the opponent has only seen the user when disguised. 249)Otiluke's Resilient Pin-This fashionable pin is often worn as a decoration on one's garments. It is enchanted so that it may look however the wielder desires, but it cannot change size. This pin increases the hardness of whatever it is attached to by 100, and it's HP by 100 per inch. The affected garment feels and acts exactly the same. It has no affect on armor of any kind. 250)Mordekenian's Color Disjunction-The small cloth patch appears to have an multitude of colors swirling along it's surface. When rubbed against a garment, it changes the garment's color to another, randomly determined color. The affected garment changes back in 2d4 rounds. 251)Instrument of Many Sounds-This piano may make any sound that the player wishes, so long as the player has heard the sound before hand. It may change sounds mid-note, or make no sound at all. Changing sound is a free action, which may be done as many times as wished. This instrument adds a +10 to all perform checks, unless the player is unfamiliar with it, in which case it imposes a -10 penalty do to the player's unfocused mind. |

| gleep11-11-05, 03:05 PM | 252) Wasp of Annoyance: These small figurines appear to be small fasteners, easilly applied as clasps or hooks, on clothing, or simply added as decoration. Once activated by rubbing their backs with the tip of a finger (standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity but does require one hand to be free), they will launch themselves into the air and fly about. The Wasps have a flying speed of 40(perfect) and will remain active for ten rounds, at the end of which they fall to the ground, their magic expended. The intial direction and distance a wasp flies is random, roll 1d8 and multiply by 5 for the distance and 1d8 again for direction (as grenade-like weapons). Once aloft, the wasps will buzz idly about in their square, readying an action, until they detect a spell being cast (their detection range is 60'). The wasps will then charge the caster of the spell, drawing attacks of opportunity as they arrow in to their target. Spell casters receive a -2 penalty to concentration checks per wasp that occupies their square (see below). The wasps attack with a bonus of +10, have an AC 22, DR5/magic, hardness 5 and 2hp. They also have the following feats: dodge, mobility, and fly-by-attack. A defender hitting with a flyswatter or rolled-up parchment instantly destroys a Wasp of Annoyance. A sucessful attack indicates the wasp now occupies the same square as their target. Minor transmutation, craft wonderous items, animate object, detect magic, CL 11. 400gp each, usually created in batches of 10. 253) Eggs of Frying. One round after these tiny replicas of eggs--about the size of a thimble--are tapped forcibly they suffer a mild explosion which results in a pile of scrambled eggs large enough to act as 1/4 of a meal for 10 medium-sized humanoids. Unfortunately, bits of shell are still present in the eggs. Eating the complete meal, shell bits and all, however gives a +2 resistance bonus to fortitude checks for the next four hours. Minor conjuration, craft wonderous object, create food and water, CL5, 50gp each. Usually created in batches of thirteen. 254) MistDizzy's White Tentacles. These fine-sized objects, made of what seems to be a small length of dried squid tentacle bleached white and encrusted with flecks of silver and malachite will, upon command, tie back one's hair so it doesn't get in the way with the result being either a pony tail or topknot. If two tentacles are used, one's hair can be arranged in pigtails or other combinations of two pony tails. If three tentacles are used, one's hair can be arranged or braided in any simple mannor. If four or more are used, the arrangements can be more elaborate. Minor transmutation, craft wonderous object, prestidigitation, CL5, 1500gp each. 255) Tara's Arrows of Helfpul Homing. Each of these arrows, upon touching a bow, will grant that bow a negation of all range penalties for 1 round's time. The arrow itself, however, will vanish once fired, never to return again. (Although, the Fighter Wizard Morgan Clunth has often expounded the theory that the arrows actually return to Tara who then sells them again.) Minor transmutation, craft wonderous object, guided shot, CL5, 150gp each. (Unless Clunth is right, then they are most likely Moderate transmutations, craft wonderous object, guided shot, teleportation, CL12, 5,000 each) --gleep PS: I'm at work so don't have time to doublecheck the caster or gp values, they're simply best guesses. | Secrets Untold02-04-06, 06:44 PM | 311: Auto-Ticketer: A pad of bright yellow paper and a self-inking quill that floats next to the owner. The owner merely has to dictate the offense and the quill will write out a ticket for the offense. The ticket is torn of the pad and shoots forward at the offender, sticing to them. As long as the ticket is attached to the offender, they must fufill the sentence. This functions as the spell geas/quest The ticket will detach with universal solovent or when the sentence is completed. 312: Knife of Preservation: Any corpse touched with this knife is permanantly preserved, and restored to fresh condition. Makes butchers quite happy. |

When placed within a space/building and activated it will automatically begin familiarising itself with all text on hand. After this process is complete it will automatically be able to guide anyone quoting title or a sufficiently rare section of text to that book or books and if text was quoted give page references. Takes approximately 30seconds to familiarise itself with 100 pages of text, cannot read magical writing. Treat as a wasp with no attack and the incorporeal template for combat purposes. 316: The Finder: A construct that can unearingly find up to 20 objects if they are within 100ft. While holding the receiver, a character can will the sender to move at a speed of 30 feet (15 feet uphill, 45 feet downhill.) | RHJunior12-05-06, 10:57 PM | 331. Ring of prestidigitation. not very inventive but marvelously useful. 332. Ring of Dancing Lights. also simple, but marvelously useful. 333. UMD Revolver. Similar to a 6-shooter, except with six long, thin barrels. holds up to six wands of any type. Allows you to switch between them by clicking the "trigger", as a free action, and gives the wielder +5 UMD. 334: UMD Polygun. Same as above, but with an added feature: if you flip a switch it goes from a +5 bonus to a -5 penalty, and allows you to fire all the wands at the same time on a single UMD roll. 335:Gauntlet of Shrink Item. 336: Ring of Gourmand: A rather gaudy ring, normally worn by nobility.... Actually a ring of prestidigitation, with the added features of Detect Poison (always on) and Neutralize Poison. 337:Sword of Wonder. A shortsword with the Rod of Wonder spell on it--- or a Rod of Wonder shaped like a shortsword, however you care to look at it. The spell effects can be activated at range (point and shoot) or melee (activate on melee attack--- which can make things REAL interesting for the wielder if it rolls up Fireball.) 338:Portable window. Basically an empty picture frame. Hang it on a wall, and the wall behind the frame becomes invisible. Voila, instant window. Can come in "one way" varieties, that let you see out but noone else can see in. |

The pot remains cool to the touch and the wax will instantly solidify if the pot is removed from the heat source. I have this in my current campaign. The previous owner was a candlemaker. |
| Thevail01-22-07, 10:48 PM | 329. Wand of mild suction will pick up objects up to one pound, comes with ring of composting which is hung on a stick outside over the compost pile. 330.Pot of edibility..meat been around too long, only got dirt, gotta eat the remains of a spider ..just makes things edible, anyone with the cooking skill however gets an additional +2 to a skill check. 331.Spectacles of close seeing, functions as magnifying glasses, makes eyes appear very very large,+2 check to decipher indistinct or tiny script, -4 reaction to be taken seriously while wearing them. A critical failure on any check to get people to listen to you results in them being stunned for 1d4 rounds with uncontrollable laughter as your huge googling eyes plead with them earnestly. 332.Sponge of absorption, absorbs any liquid harmlessly, only up to 4 gallons though. (alchemists have to clean counters you know!) 333.Hat of forgettability. People still remember that you were there, they just can't seem to agree on exactly what you looked like. |
| Thevail01-22-07, 11:18 PM | 334. Tasty treat costs double what a normal meal does, but is nearly irresistable to anything that eats, anything at all. Dc 15 will save not to eat it after it is unwrapped. 335.spending coin, usually found in dragon treasure or the treasure of something with spell resistance, causes the recipient to have the sudden urge (use suggestion spell) to go out and spend a lot of money on "something fun!" 336. Rings of fidelity, come in pairs, each ring turns red if the person wearing the other ring is..ahem..doing something they shouldn't be.Some can be removed, but most can't. 337. Comfy pillows, used mostly by nobles in hunting camps or travelling arch mages, anyone who wants a really great nights sleep in the field and either has guards or isn't that worried about what wakes them up. +5 to sleep all night long despite any interruptions. 338. portable fencing, pretty self explanatory, comes in many sizes and averages 5 gold per linear foot, looks like a spool of wire, but upon attaching one end to a post it shoots out and encircles a certain sized area keeping livestock in and most predators out.It provides feed and water for a certain number of animals per day depending on the size. Hopefully answering the question, what do we do with the horses? |
| Thevail01-22-07, 11:56 PM | 339. Map of returning, magical map that shows a five mile radius with the person holding it at the center, if it is dropped, or blown away by the wind, or wrenched out of the owner’s hand it returns in 1 round. It can be given away however. 340. Sculptor’s tools, these tools that constantly look filthy and dull, give the possessor a +4 on any check to sculpt in any medium. After 3 days of use however they begin to exert a strong influence on the sculptor who finds it increasingly difficult not to give anything they are sculpting a distinctly sensual cast. 341. Bowls of burping. These bowls with tight fitting lids have a preservation field and are generally used for acquiring rather delicate spell components. Each bowl can be used only three times, each time for a period of 1 week, but there is a 10% chance after 3 days of whatever is in the bowl, even if its non organic, growing long white fuzzy mold. 342. Pie pan this ordinary looking pie pan is somewhat fragile, but once per day when set upon a windowsill, shelf, or fireplace mantle it produces a wonderfully fragrant pie of the user’s favorite kind. Anyone eating a slice of the pie heals 1 pt, and gains uncontrollable flatulence for 6 hours. Anyone eating more than one slice of the pie gains one pound, the flatulence effect extends for 24 hours, but they still only heals 1 hp. 343. The most pleasant painting, From a distance it appears to be a normal, good quality painting. The only magical thing about this painting is that it is painted with mildly psychoactive paint which always shows the most calming and pleasant scene imaginable to each person looking at it. |
| Thevail01-23-07, 12:47 AM | 344. Elven play clothes. This set of attractive clothing is manufactured of magical cloth woven only by the elves and usually is found only in smaller sizes. The cloth is stain resistant, tear resistant, and waterproof. Additionally when it enters within a 25 foot radius of deadly peril to the wearer it begins to emit a loud siren like wail and flash a brilliant orange and forces the wearer to run as quickly as possible without incurring damage to the wearer towards the nearest adult elf. 345. +1 fork of commoner slaying (just because an innkeeper has gotta do what an innkeeper has gotta do.) 346. Point to point galoshes. Largely used on apprentices carrying valuables these galoshes go over the top of a humanoids shoes or feet and only allow him or her to walk between two predetermined points. They cannot be removed until the person has left point A and gone to point B and returned to point A again. If the person wearing them deviates from his or her appointed route the shoes begin to become smaller and smaller gradually inflicting 1d4-1 pts. of damage per hour. Better versions of these galoshes do exist that will allow slight deviations to allow for going around obstacles. 347. Belt pouch of budgeting, acts as a bag of holding for coins only, sends exactly 15% of all money put into the wallet to a predetermined secure location immediately. 348. Sling ammunition of targeting, acts like a glow in the dark paintball, but after a successful hit with this piece of ammo, anyone else targeting the victim gets a +1 to hit. Can be used to negate ½ of the miss chance vs. an otherwise invisible opponent. Used primarily by town guards. |
| Sphyre01-23-07, 01:02 AM | 339. Map of returning, magical map that shows a five mile radius with the person holding it at the center, if it is dropped, or blown away by the wind, or wrenched out of the owner’s hand it returns in 1 round. It can be given away however. Minor magical item? That's actually pretty useful knowing everything in a 5 mile radius of wherever you are, esspecially since you can't lose it too. |
| Thevail01-23-07, 01:31 AM | Actually it was just supposed to be your average sort of map, you know forest this way, island over there and so on. And being only a five mile range it doesn't exactly let you plan long range travel except short term to avoid things like swamps. I thought the not losing it sort of thing would be good for characters who ride flying animals, or for people on ships at sea etc. |
| Thevail01-23-07, 02:14 AM | 349. Useful toolbox. Holds an almost endless variety of normal, meaning not particularly deadly, tools. Screwdrivers, chisels, hammers, etc. they can only be removed from the toolbox one at a time and only after replacing the previous tool can a new one be removed. Tool box functions only for a maximum of 8 hours per day, with at least one half hour break during which it provides a nice sandwich and a cold beverage. 350. Necklace of the shrub. This necklace has a charm on it that looks like a two dimensional representation of a bush with several jewels looking like either flowers or berries. Once per day when placed on the ground and the command word is spoken the bush grows into a five foot tall shrub covered in edible berries, enough for four people to eat. 351. Safety pants. Often worn by officers and ranchers these pants adhere to the saddle of any riding animal giving the person +1 to stay in the saddle initially. But the better version gives a cumulative +1 per 5 points of damage to the wearer. 352. Flawless clothespins. Hold any cloth object onto any piece of line, cord, twine, etc. until manually released. Protects said cloth object with Damage resistance 5/-. Will not function on anything but cloth. 353. Book of bedtime stories. Works on any child, whether they are humanoid, magical beast, or animal, or outsider. Calms them and puts them to sleep after reading for 10 uninterrupted minutes. Child will remain asleep for at least 1d4-1 hours, minimum of 1 hour. |
| Sphyre01-23-07, 02:15 AM | That's still pretty useful. It's kind of like a continual Commune with Nature set at 5th caster level (Although that's kind of impossible otherwise due to it being a 5th level spell). |

| Undrhil02-09-07, 08:19 PM | 359: The Muse's Scribe: Similar to the Everchanging Storybook this book will change only when the bearer comes up with an idea for a new twist or change to the plot of a tale at which point it will automatically incorporate that idea into the story in question. Useful for those storytellers who think faster than they write. Of course, this leads to #360: Unwritable Paper - This paper cannot be written on through any means. A terrible trick to play on a bard who writes poetry is to replace his/her book of poems with a bound stack of Unwritable Paper and then watch him/her try to write in it. No one has discovered the means to recreate this paper. Lore: Some people believe the Unwritable Paper came from a mage who somehow managed to cast Permanence on a spell scroll and then cast the spell from the scroll. Normally, this would result in the scroll disappearing, but the scrolls actually didn't disappear. All attempts to recreate this happenstance fail .. sometimes fatally. #361: False Book - This book is a solid block of some material, which makes it weigh as much as a book of its size should weigh. It will always appear as a book which the viewer would want to read. It looks so much like a real book that anyone who picks it up must make a Will Save (DC:10) to resist wasting 2d6 minutes trying to open the book. If the character is otherwise occupied, illiterate, or already knows about the False Book, he automatically passes this Will save. Craft Wonderous Item (DC: 25) Block of Mithral, Greater Illusion. For example: if a Rogue pulls this book out during combat, there is no chance of anyone stopping to try to open the book. Lore: The first False Book was discovered by a Wizard who spent a good amount of time trying to open it to learn what new spells it might hold. More have cropped up over the years and they are quite popular amongst Wizards, quite the opposite of what you would expect, really. #362: Pot of Wax Melting - When placed over a candle, this pot will instantly melt a block of wax. Wax poured from the pot instantly solidifies. If the pot is removed from the candle, the wax inside instantly solidifies. If the pot is placed over a heat source larger than a candle, it works as a normal pot. When used for wax melting, nothing else placed in the pot will be affected. Even the wax is cool to the touch while in the pot. Craft Wonderous Item (DC:30) 2 Blocks of Mithral, 1 block of wax, Burning Hands, Minor Creation (both heightened to Level 6) |

It can be used at will to produce an effect similar to sending, but only to another who has a tin of telecommunication. 364 Arthur's Pen Dragon This scaly looking quill is actually the wing of a baby red dragon. The tip of this pen glows red hot at activation. It can be used to etch, to ignite combustibles, or to deal 1 point of fire damage. The effect lasts until dismissed, and can be used 5 times per day. 365 Flashrod This foot long rod (heh) can be acrivated to splay a beam of light across an area. The amount of light is equal to a bulls eye lantern. |

| Irving03-09-07, 11:24 AM | 122. The Ring of the Forgetful A character that wears this ring is always reminded of any items that they wish to bring, or any tasks they wish to accomplish before setting out on their next adventure. How awesome would this be? Realizing that you forgot your project at home before you even left for school? This would, of course, take the form of a large piece of gaudy yarn, tied into a bow around one finger. |
| IrishRover03-13-07, 01:03 AM | 371. Stirring Spoon: 1000 GP or more This is a nice silver spoon that, when used to stir anything, will maintain the user’s stirring pattern until grasped again. These are quite valued by alchemists, although they are often found in the kitchens of wealthy households, and often in adventurer’s kits. Some are quite ornate, hence the “or more” in the price. Requirements: Mage Hand, Craft Wonderous Item, Caster Level 1 Faint Transmutation Cost rationale: 0 level spell counts as 1/2 level for cost, times first level caster, times 2000 gold for continuous. 1000 gold 372. Fireless Hearth: 2000 GP This is a simple grate that, on command, becomes warm or hot. The temperature can vary from warm enough to keep a meal warm without burning it, to hot enough to cook a stew big enough for an entire adventuring party without excessive delay. It can also be used to heat a tent nicely. Requirements: Burning Hands, Craft Wonderous Item, Caster Level one. Faint Evocation There is often a small oven packaged with it, suitable for baking or roasting, even as an adventuring party moves—provided shaking won’t ruin the project. Cost rationale: First level spell times first level caster, times 2000 gold for continuous. 2000 gold (These are both in the posession of one of my characters) |

| Myst_the_Moonscout03-27-07, 07:29 PM | I believe that one already exists. |
| Pyritefoolsgold03-27-07, 10:55 PM | IT LIVES! MY THREAD LIVES! Thank you necromancer! Now I have to come up with something new... shouldn't be too hard... I did come up with the majority of the first 50 of these, after all... 374: Messenger bird: a small jade statue of a bird that, when given a spoken destination and message, will animate, fly to the destination, and speak the message. The bird will then ask for a reply, and return with it. 375: Everburning log: This log, when tapped thrice, will light with an illusory fire that gives off a comfortable heat, but is incapable of burning anything. The log is never consumed. |
| icuall04-03-07, 01:32 PM | 376. Desk Lamp Light... a Lamp that on command turns on and off. It is very sought after in affluent homes and merchants. |

| Hydryh04-05-07, 11:33 AM | 34: An easel that paints the image in your head. As with wizards and the (beta-tested only) 10,000 page spellbook, I would kill for this. I would, like them, pay with blood. By the bucket. :twitch: Also, 378: Boots of Foot Massage |
| RobbyPants04-05-07, 01:11 PM | 104: Beef-Boom-Acorns: When these tiny acorns are thrown at a cow, the cow explodes into a fine red mist.... when the cloud clears a pile of choice cuts of finley buttchered meat is lying on the floor where the cow once stood. The bloody cloud provides concealment in a 20ftx20ft square for 1d4 rounds Discusting and delicious! I love it! |

| tennyocelestia04-05-07, 07:17 PM | 379. A magical singing teacup with saucer. Whenever lifted from the saucer, the teacup will sing one of 100 songs it knows. (NOTE: This original base was not by idea. I borrowed my friend's DM's Guide once and it had printouts of a dungeon outlined in it. This was one of the items). Variations: The teacup of theme song- will sing the theme song of one of your characters The teacup of obnoxious rap- do I have to explain? The teacup of accents- the teacup will speak a line of the user's choosing in a random accent 1/day The teacup of 1000 languages- actually useful. Allows the user to use Tongues 1/per day if they pour tea into the cup. 380. Rod of Narraration This rod will randomly start narrarating the goings-on of the characters in a super-dramatic, movie-trailer type manner for three minutes. You can either interpret this as a usual movie trailer or in Here Comes Dr. Tran-style (never seen it? Go to YouTube and search for Dr. Tran). The voice is disembodied. For extra fun, let your players find it and don't tell them what it is... but have it activate at random while they're adventuring. I'm attaching it to a rod inscribed with a message the players have to take somewhere in my campaign so they have a definite reason to keep it on them... |

| Holy_Beholder04-09-07, 09:11 PM | Hey, I do that to myself anyway. So here comes more utility stuff. 381. Hammock of levitation. This is essentially a large hammock with two immovable rods attached. 382. Portable house. This is a large circle, that when placed on the ground, creates a portal to a personal plane that contains a house, as well as the standard gear to keep it. It also creates a door. 383. Apartment block. As portable house, except it creates thirty copies. It is also a cube, instead of a circle. 384. Bigby's miniature hands of massaging. These are two hand shaped things made of a smooth material. When sitting, they give the sitter a back massauge. 385. Bigby's miniature hands of strangulation. The cursed version, they relax their parton, then strangle them. 386. Invisible Mask. Invisible masks are fake faces worn by people who view themselves as ugly. 387. Rod of eating reversal. This is a rod that when the button is pushed, takes all but 2% of a persons body fat, and turns it into energy that can be used to recover power points. These are usually put into the crystal statue that can store them, and are used by psions, who have to pay huge amounts, to buy them. 388. Cap of Hair Changing. This is used when a barber screws up. It can be used to change hair color(any hair) or length. 389. Raven Circlet. This one use item causes the wearer to instantly grow wings. They may be of any color, and are each 8 ft long for a medium character. They are feathered, bat wings, or bug wings. 390. Regeneration gum. When chewed for an hour, lost limbs or organs are regenerated. It can be chewed for up to one hour a month. After chewing it, it returns to its packet. 391. Raven Saddle. As raven circlet, except it works on equine creatures, and only lasts while it is on them. |

When the lid of the jar is unscrewed large translucent bubbles begin to pour forth from the top of the jar. The jar emits bubbles for one full round and enough bubbles are produced to fill a cube 10 to a side. If the bubbles are not constrained they will spread quickly over the floor. Forming a 20' diameter circle of bubbles 2.5' deep at the center and getting smaller towards the outside. At some later time the stick can be snapped releasing the magic and 'playing back' the message which was recorded earlier. Once broken all magic leaves the stick save the smallest aura of illusion. Message sticks are often used to pass messages to spies and assassins in a way that ensures that once the message is delivered it can never be replayed. Faint Illusion: Craft Wondrous Item, magic mouth Price 25GP 420) Harry's Eversafe Pipe: This cleverly crafted pipe has a deep blown glass bulb which is filled with water and 3 small chambers for storing tobacco and other smokable substances. Although the chambers are small they each open into a small extra dimensional pocket and can each hold a reserve of up to 1 lbs of herbs. There is a forth chamber in the side of the pipe which produces a mixture of nuts and pretzels. These pipes were first observed 140 years ago in use by Harry Flowerchild, a mage known for his uniquely patterned robes and a tendency to forgetfulness. The fourth chamber was not in Harry's design at all, it was a later addition by one of his protege's, Leomund. Leomund who was later credited with several spells based on Harry's extra dimensional work was inspired to add the forth chamber during a blow out party celebrating Harry's ascendence to 12th level. After an extended session using the pipe Harry and his friends had exhausted their immediate supply of food and in his haste to address his sudden hunger Harry inadvertently dropped the pipe into his portable hole. Harry and several party goes, Harry's portable hole and the pipe were all sucked into the Astral plane. It's unknown what happened to the hapless party goers as they were never heard from again. Moderate conjuration; Craft Wondrous Item, secret chest, create food and water; Price 2,000 gp |

| Holy_Beholder06-27-07, 10:45 AM | 432. Waterwheel of Stirring This waterwheel is connected to a pole, it can stir a cauldron hands free for as long as you want. 433. Fireplace of Eternal Fire This fireplace constantly shoots up fire, and has a place to hang pots and such to cook. It can also turn into an oven if the door is closed. It takes no fuel, and radiates heat. When the door is shut, it only cooks what is on the clay shelf, and doesn't radiate heat. 434. Assorted Signet Ring This signet ring needs no wax, and has 8 forms. It leaves a glowing mark on whatever it is pushed into. The forms are: a pot and a spoon, a shield, a sword, a ball, a shovel, a leaf, a basket, and a robe. These marks are used to organize: cookware, armor/shields, weapons, toys, tools, herbs, containers, and clothes. Any of these can be replaced. At will, you can locate all of the marks, which can find anything you lose. You can pick which type of mark if you want to find something faster. The ring always points the way towards stuff of one mark, each mark can mark 10 different items. |

However, as this partially blocks the horse's vision, the horse suffers a -2 penalty to spot checks. This item also works on other equine animals such as mules, ponies, or donkeys. Perfect for convincing stubborn pack mules to enter scary places. 436) Bethril's Safety Bridle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bridle) Once per day, a Sanctuary effect can be activated on a horse wearing this item. Never worry about your pack mule during combat again! 437) Bethril's Bit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bit_%28horse%29) of 'Whoa!' Designed for runaway horses, this bit can cast Hold Animal on the horse wearing it three times per day. Typical command words are 'Whoa!', 'Hold it', or 'For the love of [deity of choice], get me off of this thing!' 438) Riding Crop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crop_%28implement%29) of the Last Minute Sprint Originally used by cheating jockeys to give their horses an edge in races, some adventurers have found uses for this item. Once per day, this crop can be used to cast Expeditious Retreat and Jump on a horse. Using this item also causes the horse to be affected by a Fear spell. Several of these riding crops have a permanent Nystul's Magic Aura effect to make them appear non-magical. This item is rumoured to have been created by the horse enthusiast Bethril the Brown, but he vehemently denies this. |

| Saragon4207-23-07, 08:40 PM | 445. Eternal Incense This magically infused incense comes in both cones and sticks, and is made according to the demands of each individual faith. It is controlled by a set of command words; the first creates light wisps of smoke suitable for private prayers, the second creates heavy clouds suitable for public services; and the third stops the incense from smoking. When activated, eternal incense burns at the temperature of normal incense (requiring basic precautions against fire) but is never consumed. Clerics whose prayers require the burning of incense find the substance particularly useful. Eternal Incense is generally sold at cost to travelling clerics and to remote temples without steady supply lines; others purchase it for private chapels or simply to freshen large spaces. 446. Orators' Candles These simple candles are inscribed with passages from the holy texts of particular religions; anyone may attune themselves to the candles by reciting those words as they light them. For the next three hours, as the individual speaks, the candles' flames will dim and brighten, rise and fall, gutter and straighten, all depending on the dramatic effect the speaker believes to be most appropriate to her words. Orators' candles are also available as other combustible light sources, torches being the most popular alternative. Each candle provides six hours of light, and a used candle (whose holy passage may have been obscured or truncated by previous use) may still be activated in the same manner. |
| Saragon4207-24-07, 07:49 AM | 447. Clockwork Scavenger This magically animated apparatus appears vaguely lobster-like, but is dun-colored and carries a basket on its back. When activated (by a command word), it constantly searches the area 500' from its starting point for dropped or discarded food. Whatever food the clockwork scavenger finds is placed in its basket; when the basket is full, it returns to its starting point, empties the basket, and continues searching. Clockwork scavengers are most commonly used in public markets to keep them marginally cleaner; they have the unintended consequence of attracting those too poor to eat and too slow to steal to their starting point, as their findings are generally free for the taking (if often disgusting.) A clockwork scavenger has no concept of ownership or freshness (a perfectly good item accidentally dropped in front of it will be claimed as readily as a dead rat) but will avoid items on carpets, pallets, and the like. (Note: Strangely, the clockwork scavenger's resemblance to the Roomba was only noticed after the fact.) 448. Stormcaller These orbs are a favorite among priests of any god of storms. A simple glass orb 1' in diameter, its interior appears to swirl constantly and flash brightly in response to nearby lightning. It also has a constant control weather spell on it to create storms in its immediate area and constantly casts call lightning -- with itself as the target. Although the orb itself is immune to electrical damage, anything near it usually suffers from the regular bolts of electricity striking at the orb. Both powers work indoors, although the storm created is always outside and above whatever building the stormcaller resides in. Called lightning bolts likewise strike the building containing the orb. If the building is carefully constructed to manage lightning properly, as most temples to the god of storms are, this can create a truly extraordinary display of a permanent storm; otherwise, it can cause great damage to a building given enough time. The constant rainfall, thunder and gusting winds, not to mention the risk of stray lightning bolts, have caused stormcallers to be forbidden in most towns and cities; they are somewhat more common in the country, in hilltop and mountaintop temples. Once created, a stormcaller cannot be deactivated, but a control weather spell cast to improve the weather while holding the orb suppresses its effect for 1d4+1 days (the spell has no other effect.) A dispel chaos spell suppresses a stormcaller for 24 hours. (Note: Not a "minor item" per se, but definitely flavorful.) |
| Saragon4207-24-07, 10:49 AM | Curse your addictive thread, pyritefoolsgold! 449. Dampening Shroud This thin, silver-shot black cloth is quite strong for its weight, and is especially favored by merchants dealing in dangerous substances and items. When wrapped around an item or material, it reduces the caster level (if appropriate) and save DC (if appropriate) of any magical or extraordinary effect the object produces. This effect remains active on the object for 2d4 rounds after it is removed from the dampening shroud. (Thus, a necklace of fireballs accidentally set off while wrapped in a dampening shroud would do less damage and have a lower save DC; a vial of magical poison would do no less damage, but would also have a lower save DC if it leaked out.) More powerful dampening shrouds can be and have been created; as it increases in strength, the cloth's silvery hints become stronger and stronger. The price per yard, however, increases dramatically as it increases in power. |

The second person must make a will save (DC=10+Plus Charisma) Or be Confused and believe themselves to be the original. This effect wears off in 1d6 rounds. This is often used in court proceedings by Clerics of St. Cuthbert, this way, the Judge can see what really happened. | Prator_the_Legendary07-25-07, 06:06 PM | These items might not necessarily have to be magical, but whatever... I've always thought it was kind of sad that adventurers with 20 Int are still unable to identify some really common types of monsters, just because they don't have the relevant knowledge skill. Sooo... Who wants a Bestiary? 451. Mumsies' Guide to Nature and its many Freaks: Mumsie was a gnomish adventurer who wrote down all the details of the battles she fought with all sorts of creatures over a lifetime of adventuring. When she tried to publish her diaries, she found that the demand for her stories was overwhelming. Anyone who can read probably has a copy of this small book somewhere in the household. However, much of Mumsie's information has been dismissed as "Effing garbage!" by more learned scholars, and the book is not arranged in a manner to make it easy to look up anything specific. Looking up anything at all in a copy of Mumsie's Guide takes 1d8 rounds, and doing so allows the reader to make a knowledge check about a monster of any type as if he/she was trained in the relevant knowledge skill for that monster's type. 452. Adventurer's Encyclopaedia: This large, heavy tome contains extensive descriptions of many different kinds of dangerous creatures. Compiled as a joint effort of several retired adventurers, the Encyclopedia is considered the definitive guide for monster hunters anywhere. Alphabetically arranged, looking up a specific monster in the book takes 1d4 rounds, and anyone who does so can knowledge check about a monster of any type as if he/she was trained in the relevant knowledge skill for that monster's type, with a +3 bonus on the knowledge check that stacks with any ranks in the relevant knowledge skill the character may already have. 453. Complete Monster Manual: Copies of this book are quite rare. Thought to be compiled by extraplanar immortals, this book is actually rather compact, but contains color pictures of most creatures known to man, plus a few that are unknown. It also has detailed descriptions of these creatures' strengths, weaknesses, supernatural powers, social habits, and even a little about their anatomy. The Monster Manual is considered the best possible guide to creatures of this world, along with those of several others. Arranged alphabetically and by "Level" (The means by which the writers determined monster "levels" is unknown, but seems to indicate how dangerous the creature is), looking up a specific monster in the Monster Manual takes 1d3 rounds, and anyone who does so can knowledge check about a monster of any type as if he/she was trained in the relevant knowledge skill for that monster's type, with a +8 bonus on the knowledge check that stacks with any ranks in the relevant knowledge skill the character may already have. |

| wadledo07-30-07, 03:40 PM | 454: Pie of Doom: this unassuming pie is actually a confection that is baked in such a way, that it causes any person who eats it to transform any baked good they touch, within the next week, into a Pie of Doom, and once the week is up to become a Pie of Doom themselves. No rules regarding baking or for that matter cooking that I could find, so no clue on price. |
| AshenRoseOfTheWaningSun08-31-07, 09:54 PM | 455: Helm of Radiance: This helm offers no actual AC bonus. Instead it has four permanent Dancing Lights attached to it. While it is worn the lights move about as the wearer wishes to a range of 30 feet. When the helm is removed the lights continue to shed light but all four return to the inside of the helm. The inside layer of the helm has a finely polished mirror surface which allows someone holding it to shed a 60 foot line of light, as a hooded lantern, that shines with the brilliance of torchlight and provides Low-Light radiance in the 5 feet square to either side of the line. 466: Easy-Bake Oven Portal: This picture frame sized doorway actually opens a temporary portal to a section of the Elemental Plane of Fire. The frame comes in three sizes: Cornish Hen For the adventurer on the go Turkey For surprise In-Law visitors Ostrich When Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion just won't feed everyone at the party The portal will not allow living flesh to pass through it, opens to a different location on the plane every time the timer expires, and has a maximum timer of 2 hours. 467: Figurines of Questionable Usefulness: These figures are six inch tall blue humanoids. These figures is fully articulated and can carry 1600 times their own weight (each weighs 8 ounces). The figures can communicate but are nigh-unintelligible, have a tendency to drink any alcoholic beverage accessible, and frequently assault small size or smaller creatures on sight occasionally cooking and eating them. Figurines of Questionable Usefulness are only sold in, and only function in groups of 50 or more. Fighting's what they like best. Whilst, yon fellaight fra' arquesbore! Drinkin's what they like best. Nae, hoon a scullen! Drinkin' and fightin's what they like best. An' snaflin' coobeastie. And stealing cows... 468: Stink Bugs: A blend of enchantment and alchemy, these pill sized scarabs are a one use fetish. When eaten they make any gases that escape the users person smell like a particular flower. Stink bugs come in three scents; rose, lilac and honeysuckle and one pill will last twenty-four hours. The most common uses for Stink Bugs are royal courts and Orcish practical jokes. 469: Fit Shan: This construct is a base with a mechanical monkey sitting in front of a spinning fan blade. Each time the command word is spoken, the monkey's arm flings poo into the spinning fan blades. Well, of course we're going to throw poo at him. 470: Box of 1,000 insults: When the little red button on top of the box is pressed a voice in the listeners language speaks a random insult. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your loins, and may your arms be to short to scratch. 471: Leash of Returning: This magical animal leash can be used to take a particular pet out once. After that simply affixing the leash to the accompanying collar will cause the leash to take the animal out along an identical course as the first time. The leash will follow at the animals pace, but will not stray more than 20 feet from the original path. 472: Board of Games: This game board has its own intelligence and can play against an opponent. Different levels of intelligence create not only more difficult opposition, but each +1 of the board's Intelligence score allows it to play another game (Chess, Checkers, Backgammon, Go, etc) 473: Vendel Bag: This black velvet bag is capable of holding up to Large sized humanoids. The bag will stretch or shrink to accommodate the inhabitant and each round that the contents of the bag is conscious they take 3d6 subdual damage. While the bag causes damage a continuous string of curse words in Nordic emanates from the area around the bag. Put him in..... The Vendel Bag!!! 474: Bag Gnome: This is a typical Bag of Holding (any Type) but when a command word is spoken the image of a wizened old gnome sitting on a stool behind a podium with a quill in hand presents itself to the user and will answer any questions regarding any and all contents of the Bag of Holding. All contents are recorded in real-time. Hey Steve, how many Cure Moderate potions do we got left? Lemme ask the bag gnome. 475: Waterproof Badge: A necklace in the shape of a simple disc hanging on a chain, this item requires a drop of water to activate it. When activated it places a force effect of similar size and effect to Tenser's Floating disc between the wearer and any falling precipitation. If completely submerged the badge goes crazy and moves the force effect to a random edge of the wearer's square each round. |

It is a small music box made of smooth ivory, with a small wheel on the front. The owner speaks a command word while spinning the wheel, followed by the name of a particular song and that song will play upon the opening of the box. The wheel also functions as a type of dial, altering the song when other command words are spoken, allowing the listener to adjust the volume, the instruments used, and the number of people "singing" the song, ranging from a solo to a full-blown choir. A new owner immediately knows the command words when they first touch the box. (Unsure of pricing). |
| Secrets Untold08-31-07, 10:46 PM | Helpful Recipe Book: This small, leatherbound book contains the recipies for many alchemical creations, all of them highly volatile. Because of the dangerous process of making these substances, a help system has been integrated into the book. Upon opening the book, a polite voice directs you to the substance you desire, and the book actually demonstrates how to make these substances. Just to prove how dangerous they are, and why you should be very careful, the book ignites the substance. The resulting explosion destroys the book, which repairs itself afterwards. Price: 2,500gp Make Whole, Minor Creation, Magic Mouth Notes: The book is inherently useless, unless you can supress its magic. It will destroy itself before you are able to follow instructions, so to be able to use it, you must enter an antimagic field or similar effect. When the disk is stopped, rhythmic music begins to play from the black indentations. The music changes constantly, segueing from one type of sound effect to another. When the disc is spun back up or otherwise moved, the music resulting will change, and the Tun of Techno can be played by a Bard with a successful Perform check. Destroying a Tun of Techno is difficult and has dire ramifications. Should you destroy the Tun, 3d100 1st-level monks of various races, armed with brilliant energy flails and dressed in exotic fashions will attack whoever destroyed it, moving in rhythm to the music that was last emanating from the Tun. These monks will disperse after the offender has been slain, talking about finding some coffee and going to another "rayve" next month. |

| Secrets Untold09-16-07, 05:09 PM | That brings an idea... Origami of Doom! These sheets of rice paper look perfectly normal, except for a small rune in the center. When a command word is issued, the paper folds itself into its true form, and animates. Various origamis of doom are detailed below. All origamis of doom can be used once/day. Paper Dagger Ever worried that you might have to off an employee? Do it in discreet style by keeping some of these on your desk! When animated, a paper dagger shapes into a razor sharp blade that throws itself at a target you designate. These attacks always hit and deal 1d4+1 damage. Paper daggers are sold in groups of five. Price: 1,800 gp (for 5); magic missle 1000 cranes If your archrival is sick in the hospital, and you want to secretly finish him in his illness, these are for you! Disguised as a goodwill present, these cranes are actually deadly weapons! When animated, a set of 1000 cranes becomes a paper crane swarm. A paper crane swarm is identical to a bat swarm. This effect lasts for 5 rounds. Price: 2,160 gp (for one set); summon swarm Origami Katana Because it had to be done. And papercuts hurt! When an origami katana is activated, it shapes itself into a miniature sword made of paper. This sword lasts for 5 rounds, and functions like a persistant blade spell at CL 5. Price: 1,800 gp (for one); persistant blade Paper Bomb A normally childish paper water-ballon has been transformed into a lethal explosive. Because I can. A paper bomb folds itself into a near-spherical bomb, like the paper water-ballons children sometimes make. This, however is no children's toy. The set of 4 bombs flies towards your designated target, each being a ranged attack at with no bonus, dealing 3d6 damage each. Even if they miss, they still deal 3 splash damage each, and can set flammable objects alight. Price: 25,920 gp (for 4); Fire seeds It's thusly 6,480 gp for one. Greater Paper Bomb Instead of four little bombs, you get one huge one! Greater paper bombs are sold individually, and function like paper bombs. There is one difference: a greater paper bomb deals 12d6 damage in a 20-ft. radius blast, like a fireball spell. They also happen to be cheaper, oddly. Price: 12,960 gp (for one); Fireball Hope you like them! |
