| Banjulhu02-11-06, 08:17 PM | I don't know if this has been done before (I hope not :D), but I'm looking for ways to really get back at your DM for utilizing one of the pranks shown here:http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=580033. So bring on all those ideas that are going to make DM's everywhere :banghead:. Oh, and try to make sure they're legal, as one of the best DM excuses is "You can't do that. It's not in the book." |
| TheModernSamurai02-11-06, 08:39 PM | As a DM, I shouldn't... but I REALLY SHOULD :D :D INSIST that your character: has an STD has OCD has an eating disorder is deathly afraid of air is deathly afraid of water is deathly afriad of (etc.) is an opposite alignment is an opposite gender refuses to stop reading a book can't stop playing Ye Olde Game Boye is obsessed with the bard's latest hit is disgusted with the bard's latest hit is Drizz't, but is a dwarf is Drizz't, but is a half-orc is 3/97ths of every class imaginable (hehehehe, goblins) is 1/3532347th of every race imaginable smells terribly smells amazing smells nothing can feel die rolls succeeds in everything or: try and role play everything "The half-orc misses Bobert the Great by a hair's width, no doubt the grand effects of his years of training after taking to the black." succeed at everything "NO WAY, DUDE! TED OF KARNATHI WOULDN'T TAKE FIRE DAMAGE FROM A GARGANTUAN ANCIENT RED WYRM DRAGON'S BREATH! HE'S LEVEL 6!!!!" Trust me, I have lots of experience in being irritated by players... |
| Banjulhu02-11-06, 09:01 PM | Yes... The wheels have been set in motion... No DM will be safe from the madness that is this post... :plotting: :evillaugh |
| Banjulhu02-11-06, 09:57 PM | As a DM, I shouldn't... but I REALLY SHOULD :D :D INSIST that your character: has an STD has OCD has an eating disorder is deathly afraid of air is deathly afraid of water is deathly afriad of (etc.) is an opposite alignment is an opposite gender refuses to stop reading a book can't stop playing Ye Olde Game Boye is obsessed with the bard's latest hit is disgusted with the bard's latest hit is Drizz't, but is a dwarf is Drizz't, but is a half-orc is 3/97ths of every class imaginable (hehehehe, goblins) is 1/3532347th of every race imaginable smells terribly smells amazing smells nothing can feel die rolls succeeds in everything Is that all at once, or seperately? Remember to number... |
| Shaggy_Shaggs02-11-06, 10:14 PM | TheModernSamurai's list is 23 (I'm not considering "succeeds in everything" and "succeed at everything" as two separate pranks). 24. Develop an attachment to a random NPC for no reason whatsoever. Bring him/her/it with you and protect him/her/it with your life. If the DM manages to kill the NPC, grab the corpse and take it to get resurrected. Do not allow this random NPC to leave the game for any reason - force the DM to come up with a backstory and personality and such for the little piece of fodder. :D I've done this in multiple games with multiple DMs and the results are ALWAYS awesome. |
| DrMorganes02-11-06, 10:29 PM | Meh. I'd just toss that one back into your court. Impress me with your l337 creativity. G'head. Impress me. ;) |
| JulesCARV02-11-06, 11:04 PM | 25. Mention and rollplay every mundane detail of your character's life: "Okay. I eat some of my field rations, *rolls a dexterity check* Okay. I drop some crumbs of my field rations onto my lap, and brush them off. I pour some water onto my handkerchief, and wipe the crumbs off of my face. I now get up and leave the party to urinate in the woods. Can I make a spot check to see if there's anything dangerous in the tree against which I'm about to pee? Okay, good. Now I button up my fly *rolls dexterity check* Okay. Good, Natural 20 on that one..." 26. Be irritatingly indecisive at critical junctures. Change your mind a lot about which action you're taking. "I try to disarm the shifter. No! Wait! Never mind. Screw disarm. I'll try to trip him. That's strength plus.... wait. Never mind. I think I'll try to grapple him instead." 27. Buy one point in every craft, profession, or (if bard, wizard, or psion) knowledge skill you can think of. "Right: what's you're move silently check?" "Oh, -2, but I *do* know the rudiments of weaponsmithing, armorsmithing, trapmaking, alchemy, bowmaking, gemcutting, metalworking, painting, leatherworking, woodworking, sailing, mining, astrology, gambling, sailing, arcana, the planes, dungeoneering, nature, architecture and engineering, psionics, religion, geography, history, nobility and royalty, and a bit of local knowledge about everywhere." |
| Yodaman2302-11-06, 11:24 PM | As a DM i can tell you what pisses me off the most. 28: Insist that you want to have sex with every NPC you come across. And if told no, start rolling dice to do it anyway. 29: Use the spell amorphous form on everything you come across including yor teammates because you made a wand of it. Nothing like trying to run a battle when a crazed wizard turned his friends into puddles. |
| JabberwockInquisitor02-12-06, 12:52 AM | 30: Play a bard. 31: follow the above, and then narrate every single bloody happenstance in game (or out of game) in song. 32: Play a character incapable of speaking Common |
| Mazurek502-12-06, 01:13 AM | 31. take the campaign into your hands and begin to railroad all night long |
| DMJustbumper02-12-06, 01:34 PM | As a DM I can tell you a couple that just tick me off as well. 32) Deny the damage delt to your character. For example, DM: Okay, *rolls dice* take 24 damage PC:Okay *dosnt write it down* DM: Well? PC: What is it my turn? (and never agree that you took the damage) 33) Play a Paladin 34) Get wands of these spells first: Flesh to stone, shape stone, and illusionary terrian. Then pursuade thousands of commoners (with a promise of money) to come and help on a construction project. Then useing the illusion cover the scene with a construction zone. In actuallity you are turning commoners into stone and useing them for the building blocks...hehe 35) Buy a wand of Arcane Mark, then when your DM acutually give you a 'hostage' dont interigate him, just write "I like the Dick" on his forehead with it, and draw a little ***** on his cheek. (this one actually was done to me as a DM...Oh man from then on the PC's had a nemisis with "I like the Dick" on his forehead...) |
| metamind02-12-06, 02:01 PM | 36) Whenever the DM describes a valuble, tense, emotional, ect. moment in the campaign, simply say I CHOOSE TO DANCE AND SING! 37) Use quotes from flash movies, such as: "Cool I'm gona get drunk", or I'm gonna cast m-a-g-i-c m-i-s-s-l-e!" |
| Banjulhu02-13-06, 01:02 AM | Oops. I think you guys redid a few numbers. Namely 31 and 32... reread those ones please :P . P.S. the next one should be #40. |
| bassist3333302-13-06, 01:21 AM | 40. Steal a LOT. 41. Walk around the cities naked and when officials get angry with you say "Hey, it's a free country!" (no matter what form of government they happen to have in that city). 42. Insist that you character has a crush on one of the other members of the party (doesn't matter what sex, if they're all the same sex, just say you're homosexual). Then all the time insist that you want to try to have sex with him or see him naked or something (even in the middle of battle). It'd be hilarious if the other person who you have an infatuation with goes along with it as well. I can see the DM just going ape-crazy when you're on top of a hill fighting a dragon and the Fighter and the Cleric pull their clothes and armor off and start having sex. |
| Suzaku45502-13-06, 01:43 AM | 43: Don't take a shower for a weak and eat those food that give you gas. |
| tsuyoshikentsu02-13-06, 01:49 AM | 44. Be a Druid. 45. Be a Bard, and use amplify and that spell that makes instruments play themselves to make your own rock band. Trust me, a gnome screaming "WITH THE LIIIIGHTS OUUUUT.... THIS IS DAAAANGEROUUUUUS!" is not pretty. 46. Be a Bard and an actor. Then cast improvisation and make "Whose Line is it Anyway?" references. Any thespian at the table will smack you. |
| Morbid02-13-06, 01:56 AM | 47. Play as a bard and insist whenever you play a song or sing you need to stop the game at that moment and write down every note or write the lyrics to the song. |
| DeadKeepWalking02-13-06, 10:22 AM | 48. Ask how many tiles make up that interesting mosaic. 49. Ask how many boards are in that wooden door. 50. Ask how many stones make up the castle wall. 51. Search every tile and brick, instead of every square, when looking for traps and secret doors. 52. Start bar fights every time you are in town. 53. Switch places with some random commoner. 54. Ask how many scales that dragon has. |
| morganm02-13-06, 10:51 AM | 55. Debate amongst your group for 10 minutes about the most trivial actions that hold little to no significance to the current mission. 56. Contintue debating about pointless crap while the DM is trying to narrate a significant part of a mission. |
| ShadowDragon868502-13-06, 11:02 AM | 24. Guilty. 28: Insist that you want to have sex with every NPC you come across. And if told no, start rolling dice to do it anyway. Also guilty. Especially in conjunction with #24. #56. Take forever to decide on and argue about stupid and trivial things. #57. Make critically important decisions based on snap judgements. #58. Find a 'pet' town-based NPC of a race and class and gender your character is attracted to. Woo them, court them, or just plain become friends with bennies. Then insist on writing to them every time you're in a town, and sending them things that they would find useful for their class, or just plain cool to have. Also, write to them every chance you get. (This is like 24, only without putting your pet NPC in danger.) #59. Lay your claim to a throne. #60. If you have no valid claim, do it anyway! |
| Arrowhen02-13-06, 04:24 PM | #61. Play a kender. |
| bassist3333302-13-06, 04:43 PM | 62. With all these bard ideas, I got another one. Pick a song that you like that sounds medieval and insist that any time you use preform or some kind of thing that uses music, sing the lyrics repeatitively while all other actions are being performed. |
| b520102-13-06, 04:53 PM | :censored:  :headexplo :hoppingma :banghead:... :raincloud |
| syrinth02-13-06, 05:15 PM | 63. Ask the name of every town, store and NPC. 64. Read the title of every book you come across then read the book. |
| monkofpassion02-13-06, 07:08 PM | 65. Have your rouge constantly sneak up and sneak attack his BBEG. 66. When he finally makes a BBeG immune to sneak attacks, have your Wizard cast invisibility, mass and have him cast lightning/ fireball on him and all his cohorts. |
| DeadKeepWalking02-13-06, 07:36 PM | 67. Create lathargic characters. |
| Johnny Cache02-13-06, 08:20 PM | 68. Name all the PCs after characters in a show the DM hates. Be sure to rileplay, er, roleplay. 69. Look up the definition of every skill, feat, and spell before each use. Never remember what page number anything's on. After finding the info, read it aloud slowly and distinctly. Then return the book to the bottom of the pile. |
| TheFallenWriter02-13-06, 08:41 PM | 70.) Play a character with multiple personality disorder, have about ten, and have a character sheet for each one, with each personality being a different class. 71:) find hte 1001 most annoying players list and try to be at least six of them |
| Double Eagle02-13-06, 09:02 PM | #71 makes a good point. I thought his thread was going to offer some clever ideas, but most of the stuff so far is just ways to be annoying. |
| DeadKeepWalking02-13-06, 09:10 PM | It is harder to pull a prank on the DM. A player doesn't have the same power a DM has. If you have some clever ideas, post them. The creator was wanting ideas to get back at the DM within the rules, for DMs that use, 1001 pranks to pull on your PCs. |
| Morotis02-13-06, 09:17 PM | make your character pun-pun...! |
| omizell02-13-06, 10:48 PM | #72 At the table keep your percent dice handy and whenever you get the chance blurt out that your character will do something crazy or ubtain something apon getting a certain number. ex. "Alright, on a role of 1-45 Dom the barb succesfully pimps 4 hoe's and obtains 300gp and 4 mundane items. On a role of 46-100 Dom gets lucky himself and obtains a pet polar bear that can't swim. C'mon lucky percent's." |
| omizell02-13-06, 11:05 PM | #73 after every skirmish, battle epic war, or stumbling upon a treasure ask if it is some insain item that you will never get. for instence I while my Dm roles up treasure ask for a horn of triton a couple of times then begin complaining and arguing points on why I should get it.(I don't even want a horn of triton.) |
| omizell02-13-06, 11:05 PM | #74 Whenever you make saves use diffrent saving scores other than the correct ones, and argue why your character would use that score. ex. freddy the locksmith wouldn't use his fortitude save to negate the poison, He was never even poisoned becuase I just made a reflex save of 14. |
| Banjulhu02-14-06, 01:23 AM | It is harder to pull a prank on the DM. A player doesn't have the same power a DM has. If you have some clever ideas, post them. The creator was wanting ideas to get back at the DM within the rules, for DMs that use, 1001 pranks to pull on your PCs. Yes, I agree. Maybe "1001 pranks to pull on your DM" wasn't the best title for this thread, but I admit that I LOVED the "1001 pranks to play on your pcs" thread, and I wanted something like that for the PC's. So, in other words, yes I was attempting to emulate "b5021's" post, but maybe I should have called it "1001 and one ways to :censored: off your DM"... Ah well... P.S. No, I wasn't specifically trying to get back at a DM for using those ("1001 pranks to play on your pcs"), just for using railroading, bad play style, and just being an overall bad DM. Just thought I'd clarify that. |
| Banjulhu02-14-06, 01:26 AM | :censored:  :headexplo :hoppingma :banghead:... :raincloud Geez, what's your problem??? :pbbbtt: |
| Tristan02-14-06, 03:53 AM | here is something that I think would qualify for a prank When your DM gets all ancy, railroady, or Doomy, plan with your fellow players that next time, all the players surrender. DM:"The large Orc yells a swear in Orcish, pointing his sword at you, his 4 bodyguards follow suit, what do you do" (Chuckles knowing that the party is doomed, and cant wait for the slaughter, and the cries of the players. Player1:"I drop my weapon, wave my hands and say 'I surrender'" Player 2: "Me too" Player 3: "And I" Player 4:"I just start to cower in fear" DM:"But...but..., fine, you all die" Players: "Ok, Hey, I was thinking of starting a campaign myself" BWAHAHAHA |
| TRCEttin02-14-06, 04:28 AM | #76: When your DM allows you to play monster races, pick a lich. With two spellcasting levels. #77: Hide your character sheet and then act as if you were just asked a deeply personal question when asked for it, replying "Get it yourself" rudely. (sheet must be somewhere inaccessible) #78: If playing any 3.0 race or class which has had major changes since it was converted to 3.5, convert to 3.5 without telling the DM until it is beneficial to you. ("Take damage from where? Oh, those guys with magic swords? I updated my sheet with the 3.5 MM, they have to be bludgeoning to get by my DR now.") #79: Roleplay your character as having a gimmick pulled from a movie (eg the sneaky butler in Mr Deeds), then overuse this gimmick. #80: Make references to anime and TV shows IC, then roleplay your character wondering why they said that or explaining they were referencing "a play" or "a puppet show". #81: Do #80 and then ask people OOC if they get it, taking time to explain it in-depth if the DM tries to move on. #82: Pull a prank on an NPC, then spend ten minutes IC bragging about it. Continue talking about how awesome it was (IC and OOC) until campaign ends. Continue next campaign, playing the child/underling of/someone who looks up to your previous PC. #83: Ignore NPCs to roleplay talking to a fellow party member about something trivial. Good NPCs to ignore are important quest-givers, royalty, BBEGs, people the PC has just asked questions of, relatives of PCs, NPCs travelling with the party, NPCs with vital plot information and NPCs in need of help. Good things to walk about are your character's wine/art/funny-shaped hat collections, the prank in #82, how you hope the NPC will give you the information you are currently ignoring, how awesome you are, or just lots of #80. A player of mine has done all those before, I'm just mentioning them to annoy her. =D |
| Lyrai02-14-06, 04:30 AM | I admit nothing. |
| beat_takeshi02-14-06, 04:54 AM | Ask npc's their name. Ask the name of various places. Ask what you see. The DM is unlikely to be able to come up with enough names and detials. Ask lots of general fluff questions. Self DM."Snake pulls up his collar and walks into the rain satisfied in the knowledge that his quest has been succesful and all has turned out well, the remaining members of the orc council having already fled." Kill your pc everytime things don't go your way then insist on starting a new campaign. |
| geekling02-14-06, 06:55 AM | #87 The 'things the DM [and the other players, I presume] does not need to know' seems effective enough for a giggle every now and then. Especially when it comes to underwear, or so it seems. Little things like shopping for the right colour of longjohns (red, woolen) or pulling a Crocodile Dundee by using socks as scrubbies when having a bath to give them a quick wash. |
| BadCatMan02-14-06, 07:31 AM | I once heard about two players who actually did this. They played Half-Orcs or Orcs, and wittered on constantly to eachother, in game and out, in Orc words and jokes from Warcraft. Zug-Zug. Gah-duk. What they really had was a crude secret code in Orcish which they used to indicate to eachother things that they didn't want the DM to hear: metagame planning, what they reckoned was going to happen next, etc. Grab a packet of the DM's favourite snacks. Empty it, and refill it with his dice and minis (ie, M&Ms) or screwed up campaign notes (Chips or the like), then glue it back together and let him 'find ' the packet and decide to snack. Surprise! Not so good if he chokes on his d20 however. Sneak a look at his campaign notes, maybe borrow an old sheet 'because you really want to learn how to DM, you know, from a master' and make up a nearly identical sheet with a few adjustments. Like vorpal swords and rings of true strike or artifacts. Get him really annoyed and confused prior to this so he doesn't notice so easily. I did this. Go on and on about how you played your PnP character through your favourite PC RPG (I played NWN. World of Warcraft would be perfect though), and how well you did, what a champion he became, his high level, his phat loot. "I think he's a god now..." The DM was pretty annoyed. :D |
| Arlin02-14-06, 08:26 AM | Actually I think a prank on the DM is to make him believe you want to do something, and when he allows you, you do something else. Like #34 - turning the commoners into stone in order to have building blocks for your construction (that was a good one). |
| NotBruce02-14-06, 10:01 AM | 91. (I think) At the beginning of a new game, after the DM describes the town that you start in. say "(your characters name here) is going to the docks(if it is land locked, find a caravan) and start planing a trip cross country |
| v209902-14-06, 02:07 PM | nah all thos aint that bad, try being a skitzo character, i was a skitzo dwarf with a voice in my head, that insist on eating every few hours and eating almost anything including enemies after a battle, it annoys the h*ll out of my DM i was a dwarf barbarian/fighter in the end he had to kill my character 1st because he can't take it, he pit me up against 4 barbarian ogres, and i was only lvl 3 |
| Dark_Druid02-14-06, 02:09 PM | 93. Violently stab every important NPC that you come across and then claim that there was no consequences cause your character recognized him as a member of your hated enemie's family. |
| Borne Of Hate02-14-06, 02:48 PM | #73 after every skirmish, battle epic war, or stumbling upon a treasure ask if it is some insain item that you will never get. for instence I while my Dm roles up treasure ask for a horn of triton a couple of times then begin complaining and arguing points on why I should get it.(I don't even want a horn of triton.) I did this with monks tattoos! |
| Loren Pechtel02-14-06, 03:26 PM | 41. Walk around the cities naked and when officials get angry with you say "Hey, it's a free country!" (no matter what form of government they happen to have in that city). For a high level character, when challenged: "Yes, I am naked. That's how I want to be. I wouldn't advise trying to do anything about it." |
| darkness ninja of light02-14-06, 04:28 PM | Here's a prank! 94. While the DM is away (or during a break), have all or some of the players exchange their character sheets with each other. Roleplay as appropriate for the new character. Insist that you were always playing that character. Probably works best if the break was long and there are a good number of players. Switch every time there is a break. |
| omizell02-14-06, 06:53 PM | I did this with monks tattoos! right on its good to know im not the only one with awsome ideas! |
| ThorGuy02-14-06, 10:08 PM | I did this one in a campaign I was in with a very large group. (10-12 people) 95. Play a character with good acrobatic skills (tumble, jump, climb, etc.) and constantly use them for mundane tasks. And never remember the rules for any of them. Get your spellcasters in on the fun for improved results. DM: A man approaches your coach, and calls out "Hail, fellow travelers!" You: The wizard casts haste on me, and I jump out of the coach, grab the side and climb up, (looks up the rules for climb checks) DC 15, ok. *rolls* I make it, and I clamber up the side of the coach. I jump off the edge of the coach, (looks up the rules for jump checks and rolls) *Successful* and I land on the ground, going directly into a tumble, while drawing my knife. (Looks up the rules for tumble checks and rolls) *Successful* I am now directly beside him, and I put the knife up against his throat, hissing into his ear "Move one muscle and your life will be very short indeed." DM: Your Neutral Good, you idiot. You: Oh... sorry. In that case I jump up onto the horses, making a jump check, *successful* run along there backs, making a balance check, *successful* and I jump at the carriage, flipping into the passengers seat, making jump and tumble checks, *successful* and I make myself comfortable. DM: AAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!! |
| JungeonJeff02-15-06, 02:40 PM | 96 ) Bring a dice of exeptional size... big enough to knock over every glass on the table, plus the DM's screen. 97 ) Have Post-It's with you. Write down notes of NO importance, and stick them on the DM's screen, away from the GM himself. Convince the other players to look carfully at each of them. |
| CowMasterTrojan02-17-06, 10:04 PM | 28: Insist that you want to have sex with every NPC you come across. And if told no, start rolling dice to do it anyway. That just seems like a invitation for the DM to horrible things to your **ahem** err... "johnson" |
| speeblefreak02-17-06, 11:40 PM | 98. Make a rogue with maxed-out ranks in Sleight of Hand, the feat Skill Focus (Sleight of Hand), all ability increases in Dexterity...you get the idea. Whenever you meet an NPC, engage that NPC in conversation, then rob him blind. As you turn to leave, turn back and say, "Oh, and you might want these." Then start pulling all his stuff out of your pockets. 99. See above, but while you're searching your pockets, backpack, etc. pull out all of YOUR stuff and force the NPC to hold it whilst you keep rummaging. 100 ( :w00t: ). Cast explosive runes on every sign, plaque, book, or piece of paper you can find. |
| Morotis02-18-06, 09:26 AM | 101: Put tacks on your DMs seat... 102: When your DM (preferable a squeemish female one) starts explaining in graphic detail how the orcs triple critical looks as it chops your haed off, tell them they have a spider in there hair... Instant laughs.... oh, you still die though.... |
| interpretivechaos02-18-06, 11:36 PM | 103- As soon as you encounter a city, be sure to decide to start establishing a profitable base of operations there. Explain how you want to be connected before you dare move forward, and how your character had a bad case of a misinformed quest that nearly killed him. Then regularly check the buisiness portion of the joint and see if it's making money. Use part of the proceeds to by mercenaries to scout the dungeon for you, but use the rest to by other buisinesses. Once (and if) you create a trade empire as profitable as adventuring sit back and any new plot hooks just throw a bounty on them. 104- Insist on procuring the rights to own the land of a dungeon from the nearest Kingdom. When questioned explain that it is stealing if I don't own the land you take stuff from. 105- In the village you entered in dire need of saving, question what the village council/mayor/ king/ wise old woman etc has done to save them. Find someone who proposes a radical solution besides "Waiting for random passerbys to decide to save us from the peril" and judiciously use diplomacy to put them in power. Then grab the plothook, explaining that you couldn't leave them unprepared for next time when no adventuring party was going to come along. 106- Request that you wish to make the game more realistic, and have only IC discussion. Combine this with a horrific elven name that is impossible to remember. Speak in a bad english accent, and refuse to let by any slips into OOCness, no matter how necessary. "I'm sorry chap, but I don't know how to fashion a "Refleckseive" Roll them anyway so your DM can't really complain. Be convinced that all the NPC's are loony because they keep making no sense. 107- Play a zealot of a masochistic cult. Believe that pain and suffering are the only true ways to enlightenment. Never accept healing (instead force them to heal you while you are unconscious). When your character expectedly dies, explain that that was the most fun you've had in a while and the character really just seemed believable and struck a chord with you. Proceed to play another one. (If your ever up against a player vs DM style DM, let yourself die fast. Not only does it desensitize you to all the monsters, but it makes them realize the point of the game isn't to kill you) 108- Insist that you saw an online list of 1001 most insidious traps. Go on about the mundane surprise list, and then play an extremely paranoid character. "Truly... now before I accept the coins is there anything that looks remotely looks like contact poison." 109- Nature Abhor's a vaccuum. Thus, when you dispose of the BBEG it's only natural that you take his place. Take over his evil empire (if you're good, put all those minions to use in social improvements, or just in legal buisiness activities that are quite profitable) |
| Banjulhu02-27-06, 11:08 PM | 110: Play a rogue with maximum dexterity, and max ranks in sleight of hand, move silently, pick lock and hide, then find a populated area and pick everyone's pockets and sell the stuff back to them. Works best in a small town, with little or no guards. 111: Always sleep in a tree. Always. |
| rockondon02-28-06, 01:07 AM | 112. Rub soap on the DM's dice. Dip his figs in butter. 113. pass tons of notes, but only to the other pc's. Write things on them such as "look at the DM curiously then start giggling" "give the DM a strange look" 114. have everyone agree to stare intently at the DM all night, but to look away the moment he looks back. 115. Bring a real mandolin to the game, for your bard character. Make sure it is out of tune and that you don't know how to play it. Broken strings are good. Whenever the DM is describing or explaining something play the instrument, insisting that it makes for great atmosphere. Play a riff now and then and ask others to guess what song you're playing. 116. Have all the pc's agree to all split off from one another in search of their own adventures or mundane tasks in town, such as using their blacksmithing proficiency to make themselves some armor. 117. At every encounter have everyone run away to a safe location, buff themselves (or sleep to get their spells back) then go back to where the encounter was. Repeat this for every room in every dungeon. 118. Each round have one player (preferably one that's sitting somewhat far from the DM) be designated to get spectacular rolls. Although he will take the dice away before the DM can see it, the players next to him will confirm that he did in fact roll straight 20's. |
| Pyth HandSlieght03-01-06, 02:45 AM | My dungeon masters vendors are always checking to see if we gave them real gold coins by biting them. I got a gold coin once and coated it in some poison. Bought a small trinket from the weapon smith in town. |
| BadCatMan03-01-06, 04:36 AM | 96 ) Bring a dice of exeptional size... big enough to knock over every glass on the table, plus the DM's screen. I don't know if any genuine over-sized dice do exist, but Scattergories contains an absolutely gigantic d20. It has letters on it though, but it'd do the trick. |
| JulesCARV03-01-06, 11:59 AM | I don't know if any genuine over-sized dice do exist, but Scattergories contains an absolutely gigantic d20. It has letters on it though, but it'd do the trick. Are you sure it isn't a d26? :) |

A couple friends showed up to our last game with oversized D20s. I think they were compensating for something else! :D |
| Balor von Balorvitch03-01-06, 04:31 PM | 119: Have everyone in the party take ranks in dance then have a heated alignment issue be solved by a dance off! Me and my friend were playing a drow and a paladin and I was going to slit some bandit throats and he he stared me down and then he yelled "Dance off!" We humed the lord of the dance theme, rolled and, I won and thus made a gold belt that said lord of the dance. |
| Banjulhu03-07-06, 09:02 PM | 120: Stab things for no apparent reason (preferably things that can't hurt you or your weapon). 121: Stab things for no apparent reason (even things that can hurt you and your weapon). 122: Play a Bard and buy a flute. Play said flute through nose and call it a "Noseflute". :D 123: Play a Character with 20 Str, and spend all your starting gold on 200 lbs. of soap. Take a bath every ten minutes. Insist you look like a living raisin, and tell your comrades to charge innocent townsfolk 1 GP to see you. Buy more soap... :evillaugh |
| syrinth03-07-06, 09:08 PM | 124. Stab your teammates at strange times as a wizard, and shout "Stabbity Death!" 125. When asked for an opinion say "I like swords" or "staffs" etc etc. 126. When you cast a damage dealing spell such as fireball shout "Hadoken!" 127. When in trouble shout "Fighterdoken!" and attempt to throw the parties fighter at the enemy. 128. If you are a fighter throw yourself at the enemies and shout "Medoken!" Yeah sorry, read a lot of 8-bit theatre. |
| Stafir Ortnev03-07-06, 10:07 PM | People..please remember to pick stuff that would annoy/be a prank to the DM....not something that they might like. Many DM's would KILL for a chance for their players to become interested in the characters of the world...actually decide on something to do with all the enemies/henchmen they meet, etc. Though I guess if your DM is too one track minded they might not like it... 129: Try to make any of the optimization board monsters, make sure you use only books the DM allows. 130: Look at the whats a DM to do board..read what those DM's have problems with...now copy the idea to the best of your ability. 131: Insist your next character is a paladin..of toasty-tot :D. 132: In a campain where your DM does the whole alignment thing as said by core. Insist that alignment is subjective and therefore your char who kills at random, does unspeakable acts to enemies, and tortures them. Is good because...he believe it was a good God who told him to do these things, and he dosn't believe he is evil himself, or doing any wrong acts. |
| speeblefreak03-07-06, 10:15 PM | 133. Make your character a warmage, but pick up two levels of rogue for the evasion. In battle, consistently drop fireballs at your own feet, hopefully using evasion to survive. When the DM asks you why, respond, "I like my personal space!" |
| Delfedd03-07-06, 10:21 PM | 33) Play a Paladin 34) Get wands of these spells first: Flesh to stone, shape stone, and illusionary terrian. Then pursuade thousands of commoners (with a promise of money) to come and help on a construction project. Then useing the illusion cover the scene with a construction zone. In actuallity you are turning commoners into stone and useing them for the building blocks...hehe 43) ^^ in that order. Then deny that you are doing anything wrong. Argue your point of goodness to the extreme, sound like you believe it. "They have all comitted sin! in order to purge themselves they must serve my god! in order to do that, they have to serve my god! And what better way than to serve as the temple?" |

| Archmage_Vall03-07-06, 11:26 PM | 129. Take exotic weapon proficiency: Swordchucks. 130. If you can't buy swordchucks, put ranks into Craft: Weapons, and make them yourself. 131. Get some steel gauntlets so you don't cut your hands with them. |
| syrinth03-08-06, 12:15 AM | 132. Change your character sheet to accomodate for any situation. (Oh gods what HAVE I started) |
| rockondon03-08-06, 12:50 AM | 133. When your DM puts you up against an encounter like devils/demons/undead, politely ask him not to use monsters like that in the campaign as you find it highly offensive toward your deep religious principles. Arrange it so the other players convince the DM that you are in fact deeply religious. Suggest some alternatives (instead of that barbazu I'd appreciate it if you could make it a brown bear or a couple boar instead, thanks.) 134. Procrastinate about what you will do that turn. Scan spell lists, then study your skills and feats. Decide on what you will do, then ask for the book that its in. Once you find the appropriate page, slowly read its description. Once that's all done, change your mind and attack as normal. Rinse and repeat. 135. Find the module that the DM will play next and take it without him knowing. Carefully remove the final encounter page and type out a proxy of that page. Glue or staple the fake page into the module. Change it up so the BBEG is loaded with incredibly rare and valuable magical items yet still keep him weak enough for your party to beat him. Then put the module back where you found it. |

| Banjulhu03-19-06, 08:29 PM | 136: Sneeze on everything and everyone, i.e. "I sneeze on the walls of the dungeon, leaving a trail of mucous to mark my way back" and "I walk into a bar and sneeze on the bartender". Works best if you're a fighter-type person, because most people often try to hit you, stab you, shove a stick up your nose, etc... |
| ArcanaKnight03-20-06, 05:12 AM | Whenever you are asked to do something, insist on a garrison of clerics as payment up front. If they don't go for it, press the issue until you get to the point where your character is whining that they're going to die if they don't get it. Especially if its some mundane task that has little or no chance of even harming your character. If need be, come up with wild theories of what might happen. (Actually happened in current campaign) NPC: Get the magic goblet for me. Its in a cave in the north, by a dragon's lair. PC: OK, but I'll need a garrison of clerics for that NPC: What for? PC: In case we face the dragon. NPC: But the dragon is nowhere near the goblet, you don't have to face it PC: but we might. NPC: but you won't PC: But... *whining* I'm gonna diieeee! :weep: |
| Cthulhu312503-20-06, 11:40 AM | 138: Instigate constant contests between party members. (I do this a few times a session at least). It is the unwritten rule of our group that one person may declare "I challenge you to a contest of [skill/attribute], the stake is n gold". Notable contests included my fighter having a contest of listening to things with the rogue, with a stake of 1 copper, and, in a game of paranoia, "I challenge you to a contest of nuclear engineering!". Use a contest of craft (basketweaving) to determine who gets the magic loot. 139: (I also am guilty of this one) - take a fighter with improved trip, hold the line, combat reflexes and a spiked chain, and get about 5 attacks in a turn instead of 1. The DM doesn't seem to like the constant incapacitating of his monsters. 140: Use the above build to constantly trip the other party members from 10 ft away, when they climb on to wagons, walk along river banks, and so on. Make the trip attack against an important, dignified NPC as he expounds on his long history. |

Take a spare cha sheet(fill it out a little to make it look real) and when your character takes his first damage of the session get really ****** off, rip up the sheet and then run out of the room. 144. Mime your PC actions 145. Try to get arrested in every town you are in 146. Insist your DM use a different accent for each NPC 147. Try to take a feat at every level and then swear up and down that THIS is the level you take a new feat till your DM actually looks it up. |

And questions like pervious, and always argue about it keep it going as long as possible and watch them rip the hair from their head. | Kirtanus_Albacron03-25-06, 01:40 AM | 150) Spend all of your starting gold on alcohol. Lug it around with you and roleplay that you are drunk, even though you haven't drank any of your alcohol. Then insist that the other players get drunk and whine until they do. Even throw spare mugs at monsters. And in the middle of battle, when you use you weapon, and it is a critical hit, have your character vomit. |

| DM_Firecracker03-25-06, 11:08 AM | I don't know if any genuine over-sized dice do exist, but Scattergories contains an absolutely gigantic d20. It has letters on it though, but it'd do the trick. Enormous D20s Exist. I own three that are palm sized, and one that is head sized. The are loud and knock stuff over, but fun to use. I have one player, who doesn't game with us any more, that I required to use the head dice because he was constantly rolling better then 20. (I call it brusier because I used to threaten to throw it at you if you rolled a one), In addition, I have seen d6s that are big enough to sit on (and foam). I want to get some of those for my rouges sneak damage. 77. Cast prestidigiation at crucial moments in battle, but insist it has a useful purpose. "I make the bricks purple so we can see the ochre jelly easier!" I do this type of thing all the time. Since the spell lasts for an hour often times when we encounter the BBEG my first action is to Presto, just so if I can't do anything else I still have the option of making it smell like mr. BBEG soiled himself, and make his trousers brown. :) 151.) (inspired by Knights of the Dinner Table) WHen you are in town have all the PCs agree that they like the town. Get jobs working for merchants, buy houses, make friends, tell the DM "I can't go explore that dungeon today, me and Dianne are meeting for tea at the Green Dragon this afternoon" Try and drag out the time in town as long as you can. If you get any RP XP level up in Commoner because you have recently learned how cool it is to be common. 152.) Pass notes to the DM telling him everything you do, never speak outloud for any reason. If another players talks to you write "I tell so-and-so whatever" and pass it to the DM. 153.) Tell the DM how you are min/maxing the character you are playing in his game. Every session spend at least talking about how cool you will be by level 16, even though you are only 3rd right now. 154.) Do your best to end each encounter without fighting, but working out the problem with the monster. 155.) Insist on giving everything a proper burial, even when in the middle of the dungon 156.) Watch the Lords of the Ring until you can speak in Elven fairly well, then play an elf who can't speak in common. Refust to translate yourself, saying that according to everyone's character sheet they can undestand you. 157.) Play a gnome, and refuse to respond to anyone unless they address you by your full name (all 48 of them). |

Eat sardines at the gaming table. 162. Have your character salt everything whenever he's in a tavern. Have him go really crazy if there isn't any salt. Just develop a very, very weird thing for salt. 163. Make up pet names for other PCs and stick to those names only, especially if they're terribly inappropriate. Work it out ahead of time so the other players pretend to get really upset with this. Push this until your DM decides he has to take you aside and have a talk. Then go back to the table, wink at the other players, and make it worse. 164. Etch something into every coin your character ever gets. In every town you go to, look for coins with that mark. Insist on going through the innkeeper's coins, etc., etc. Dave |

| ressurrector03-30-06, 12:56 PM | what's the head of vecna Ooh, let me get this one! There was a campaign that consisted of party vs party combat, two opposing groups of PCs. One party started the story of the "Head of Vecna" and got it disseminated enough that it reached the other party. The other party went looking for it, found it, and then tried to use it. Now, for the hand of Vecna, you remove your hand and attack the Hand in it's place. Similar for the Eye of Vecna. What ended up happening is that the party started cutting off their own heads and trying to get the Head of Vecna on fast enough that they'd live, and get cool abilities. Of course it was a fake, and they all killed themselves trying. |

| Kolhell04-01-06, 08:01 AM | 179 - rules lawyer with the dm and win. in order to not start any major conflicts be sure to correct players as well. slowly begin taking over the dms job - perform a search check looking for a secret door and describe the wall youre looking at in minute detail, clarify the descriptions of rooms for the person sketching the map, etc. 180 - sleep with his/her significant other 181 - make rude comments about his/her SOs performance 182 - roleplay an extremely impatient, hotheaded character with an over-inflated sense of his/her self worth. any time the party begins talking to an important npc that the dm obviously put a lot of time into thinking of try to intimidate him/her to speed things along (even if you dont have it trained). if it fails get irritated and kill the npc for his/her insolence. if it succeeds demand that the npc physically guide you on your quest (if npc refuses then see above). as the npc guides your party constantly strike up obscure conversations that have absolutely nothing to do with the script the dm prepared for, and dont allow any other players a word in edgewise (if the npc starts talking to them then kill him/her for his/her insolence). if the npc lasts too long then get mad when he/she doesnt warn you about an encounter, exclaim that he/she is leading you into a trap, and kill him/her for his/her insolence. 183 - for dms who put their heart and soul into creating custom campaigns (especially effective vs dms who try to railroad you cuz you wont feel guilty) decide you want to play an evil campaign but dont inform the dm ahead of time. play with a group of people who have no idea how to do so effectively (read: slaughter babies and begin taking over towns). i can tell you from personal experience NOTHING is harder to deal with than players who completely disregard the consequences of their actions, and a dm who puts a lot of effort into prepping the the campaign will be very reluctant to simply kill off the party. 184 - have your character keep some absurd (and preferably large) animal for a pet, like some form of livestock or a goldfish, and take it everywhere. insist that it adds depth to your character and helps you relate to him/her because you had/wanted a pet like that when you were younger. all in all it works very similarly to the infatuation with an npc, except its more obnoxious and harder for roleplaying-oriented dms to counter (cant come up with a fun background for the pet, harder to work into quests, etc). the enfatuation with an npc works best in hack-and-slash campaigns as dms of this nature will hate coming up with a backstory. 185 - discuss implementing new prestige classes (like ones on these boards) with your dm, and work to do so without hurting the campaign. after you and the dm have planned it out change your mind and multiclass into something completely different. 186 - twink the hell out of your character. 187 - try to take knowledge (monster manual) or knowledge (dungeon masters guide). 188 - on the fluke chance the role isnt already filled in your gaming group: stop wearing deodorant |
| ressurrector04-01-06, 01:52 PM | 187 - try to take knowledge (monster manual) or knowledge (dungeon masters guide). There's knowledge (dungeoneering) which is pretty much Know MM1-3. |
| irisheathen04-01-06, 04:09 PM | what does twink mean? |
| Hariman04-01-06, 05:07 PM | what does twink mean? As far as I know, there are two meanings. 1: A DM that hands out items that are well above the wealth guidelines that are set up in the PHB/DMG. 2: A player who either copies a previously published character. Drizz't Do'Urden and Batman being the most common that I've heard of. I'm not completely sure if these definitions are wholly accurate, but I know tha if they aren't, I'm not too far off. Ressurrector: Each knowledge skill has different monsters attached to it, but asking to be able to put ranks in knowledge "Monster manual" is a good joke. 189: Introduce your character as a "Kender", but play him as a dour grizzled old war vet. Reveal him later as a disguised halfling. 190: Ask if your character can have ranks in "Knowledge: Metagame" |
| liquidplumber04-01-06, 07:33 PM | i'm running a 1/2 orc barbarian that for some reason lost his mind and started making all of his decisions based on his imaginary friend "mortimer." kind of like fred flintstones little buddy. except that mortimer is constantly making my pc set things on fire (like the only wooden bridge out, or the town gaurd). his new weekness is saying friend or foe before heaving a vial of flaming oil at no one inparticular.....the comic relief ensues!!! |
| rockondon04-02-06, 03:10 PM | 191: following that post ^ you could make a split personality character like golem from lord of the rings. Have a lengthy background written, showing the DM that his tragic past caused his psyche to split and create a stronger persona that takes over in times of stress (which would be...every battle). 192: every time the DM begins explaining something interrupt him with "hey do you guys remember that time..." and discuss any prior D&D event that has even the vaguest similarity to what the DM was just describing. If this doesn't get you kicked out of the game, proceed to # 193. 193: every time the DM opens his mouth, interrupt him with every irrelevant, outdated thing that you guys have been through in your years playing D&D. 194: act like this: DM: So one of the patrons in the tavern approaches you and strikes up a conversation. PC: You're railroading. DM: ...whut PC: Nice try. I won't let you manipulate my character like that. I refuse to talk to the npc and I leave the tavern. DM: Okay, then outside the bar you see... PC: You're doing it again. I go the opposite way. DM: .... PC: Oh and that map we found that shows a dungeon to the north? DM: yes PC: We go south. DM:  Fine. You go south and eventually come across the entrance to a dungeon PC: Yeah right. We know what you're up to. Railroad much? We don't go in. DM: :banghead: |
| Argon_Asimov04-02-06, 04:52 PM | Have actually done this: 195) Convice the entire party to roll up halfling bards. Refuse to accept any plot hooks, insisting that you only wish to "frolick and sing". If anything tries to engage you in combat, run. If you cannot escape, die. Reroll another halfling bard. Irisheathen: "Twink", unless I am mistaken, derives from a certain behavior in MMORGs, wherein a player will equip a very low-level character with items that would normally be far beyond thier reach, thus making the character vastly superior to his/her peers. This is normally done by buying in-game money over the internet, or by recieving in-game money and items from higher-level characters (especially characters owned by the same player) or friends. |

A: You are an evil, evil man. (But still hilarious.) B: I guess that Twink has at least 2 meanings. But I think your meaning is probably the most accurate. 196: When your character gets knocked out, have him wake up saying: It was all so clear to me, THAC0 is easy to calculate! 197: Same as 196, except used if your character is hit by an insanity effect. 198: Have your character ask a centaur if he can provide manure for the character's garden back home. (You have to have family that owns horses to really understand this one. My family has had people ask for the piles of manure at fairs we've done horse rides at.) 199: Insist that your ninja be given downtime to create a "Shotgun Jutsu" or a "Headshot Jutsu" I'll let someone else have the anniversarial honers of making the 200th prank. |
| PossiblyInsane04-02-06, 07:33 PM | 200. Refuse to attack anything but the darkness. |
| Tharr04-02-06, 07:51 PM | 201. Take silly attacks opportunity on allies such as tickling. |
| nodaisho04-03-06, 07:35 AM | 45. Those are hilarious, in one campaign a player made a character called Kurt Kr'bane, a half-orc rogue, I insisted someone with that name should be a bard but he wasted in on a rogue. The whose line is it anyway sounds like something my friends and I would do. |
| Wargamer04-03-06, 07:59 AM | 202. Create any of the following characters: Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Boromir, Gandalf, Frodo, Bilbo, Samwise, Meriadoc, Peregrin. 203. Play as if you're in Runescape. 204. Play as if you're in World of Warcraft. 205. Go a Spellcaster, and use only Summon Monster spells. Bring Yu-Gi-Oh cards to the table. 206. Take a class with an Animal Companion. Name it "Pikachu", and let it do all the fighting. 207. Ask to be a Space Marine. 208. Ask if you can be a Human Arcane Archer at 1st level "Like in Baldur's Gate". 209. Make a Bard named Michael Jackson. 210. Make him a "fiddler". 211. Whenever your DM says anything that is remotely a sexual innuendo (really push this... things like "carrot", "sword", "handle", "grip", etc). say "bow-chicka bow-ow!". 212. Ask to play Caboose. 213. Ask to play Griff. 214. Ask to play Sarge. 215. Ask to play Andy. 216. Ask to play The Alien. 217. Quote O'Malleigh. ("Only now do you realise the folly of your folly! Evil wins!"). 218. | VrecknidjX04-03-06, 11:11 AM | I did this once. DM: "You're trapped in a room, no exits." Me: "I get out a piece of chalk. I draw a circle on the wall. I draw a diameter through the circle. Now there are two halves. Two halves make a whole. I go through the hole." (I actually had one in my pack). DM: <Stares at me, picks up d%, rolls, gets a 01> "Oh what the hell, the god of humor happened to be watching and he likes your attitude. The hole is just big enough for you to crawl through." Me: <Triumphant smile> Dave |

| Banjulhu04-03-06, 07:52 PM | #222 ( :w00t: ) When playing a first-level campaign with lots of people (i.e. 6 or 7), innocently ask your DM if cows can have the same statistics as bison. Then get everyone to be a human barbarian with 18 Cha and full ranks in intimidate and spend all your starting gold on cows. In MM 3.0, (I don't have 3.5, so I'm not sure if it's true for both. ) bison have the special ability Stampede, which means in a herd, bison will run away from the perceived source of danger, causing a stampede. It does something like 1D10 damage for every 5 bison in the herd. Then, when battle begins, have all the characters and monsters make opposed Intimidate checks to see which way the cows run. For even more fun with that, include a pacifist Druid with a wolf animal companion. Use the wolf to help scare the cows. #223: Make your character a Bard with max ranks in Perform (Narration), and Hide, Move Silently and all other move related skills. High Cha and Dex are good for this. Have him wear a high-collared cape and stalk around in the shadows, narrating the PC's actions. Name him "The Narrator". Full credit for that goes to JabberwockInquisitor. |
| rudie04-03-06, 09:33 PM | 209. Make a Bard named Michael Jackson. my friends and I have been working on 2 michael jackson characters...creepy mike and awesome mike..they rock anyway #224: take craft explosive and do something like this.. (from a game I dm'd:) Chef: what can I get you sir halfling? player: custard..lots of custard.. dm:um..ok he gives you custard player: i roll a 60 on my craft explosive (open ended rolls)...i make custard bombs dm: no! (get the rest of the party on the players side) dm: fine (then insist the custard bombs do explosive damage, plus the person struck gets caught in the custard and cant move) 225: play a griffon 226: make a character that uses nothing but locking garrets 227: get a portable hole and a bag of holding, tell the dm you put the hole in the bag and turn it inside out, thus creating a black hole and ending the universe. |
| speeblefreak04-03-06, 10:53 PM | 226: make a character that uses nothing but locking garrotes I can (and have) expand on that. 22. Make a fang of Lloth who uses three locking garrotes simultaneously. :smirk: |
| merdusk04-04-06, 12:35 AM | 229: Play a gnome and insist that every PC and Major NPC give your character a unique name. here by after 6 monhs of game you should need 3 pages for your name and 2 pages fr your character info, and insist that each person call you by the name that they gave you. |
| Banjulhu04-04-06, 02:16 PM | #230: Play a halfling and, while looking through the equipment section in the PHB, buy manacles, sealing wax, barding (even with no mount), and 20 lbs of chicken feed. Claim you have no idea what any of them do (if you ACTUALLY don't know what they do, that's even better), refuse to look at the description and bring them up whenever possible. Like so: DM: Okay, you see a large cliff, about forty feet high. There are ledges, but you'll need some kind of rope... PC: Anyone got rope? You: No, but I do have manacles, sealing wax, ferret barding and 20 lbs of chicken feed! Had this happen to me while I was DMing a ninth-level campaign... :headexplo |
| Legacychampion04-04-06, 08:17 PM | #231 Play Mindflayer. Every tavern you go to, insist for goblin's brain ale. The DM will say that the Bartender will have no clue what you're talking about. So, tell the DM for there to be a goblin in the tavern. Pick up the goblin and suck its brain out, but say you don't swallow. Spit the brain in a keg, then tell the bartender to fill the keg with every beer they have. Mix it up, then take the bartender into the bathroom and kill him. Use Alter Self to make yourself look like him. Take the keg and put it on bar counter, then shout "Hey everybody, free drinks!" |

| qlawdat04-11-06, 12:10 PM | Carry chickens around in a basket at all times, collect more whenever you can. Name each of them. Whenever the DM list the people in the party, demand that the two chickens be listed too, by name. |
| Johnny Cache04-11-06, 09:14 PM | #243, I hope... When starting a new campaign, get everyone to name their character after another player, then deliberately "misunderstand" who the DM is talking to as often as you can get away with it. The first person who's character gets killed names his/her new one after the DM. |
| VrecknidjX04-11-06, 09:48 PM | 244. (Similar to 243, which we've actually discussed doing before.) Name your character "d20" or "Saving Throw" or something equally distressing. 245. Take Perform (bleed) and then every time you get cut, insist on making a Perform check to see if everyone wants to pay you for your performance. 246. Take Peform (insult comedy) and then insult everyone, and try to make it seem in character so you can kinda get away with it. Dave |
| kelvinaw27304-11-06, 11:23 PM | Here's a prank! 94. While the DM is away (or during a break), have all or some of the players exchange their character sheets with each other. Roleplay as appropriate for the new character. Insist that you were always playing that character. Probably works best if the break was long and there are a good number of players. Switch every time there is a break. Of all the comments on here, this one has style. I would award muchos XP to the players who could pull it off. |

No bonus XP though, RPGA Living Greyhawk doesn't let DMs award bonus XP.) 249: Take Perform: Contortionism and insist that 5 ranks adds a +2 bonus to Tumble and Escape Artist checks. |

I'm going to die soon!" 253: Every time you come to a meeting, have a new character ready to play with. |
| Vacerious04-12-06, 10:22 AM | But why a mindflayer? It was an allusion to a thread in the 'Magic and Spells' forum, in which the OP asked a question about a picture found in Complete Arcane. The picture was Mialee screaming as she looked at the page of a book of some sort. The OP asked what it was that could cause Mialee to be so horrified. One of the posters replied, "...and a mindflayer giving two thumbs up in the background." This mindflayer soon came to be lovingly known as Ted. |

| Johnny Cache04-12-06, 08:48 PM | Since my #243 was a duplicate, as VrecknidjX kindly pointed out, here's a replacement: #243: For this prank you will need: A small notepad (3"x5" is a good size). Make sure the paper has lines on both sides. A piece of carbon paper cut to the same size as your notebook's pages. You may want extras. A plastic stylus like the ones for a PDA, or a completely dry pen. A small mirror.Hide the carbon paper in the notebook so that the carbon side is facing up. When you need to write a note to the DM, open the book to the page in front of the hidden carbon paper and write on it with the stylus/dry pen. (You won't be able to see what you're writing, hence the lines.) Be careful not to let the carbon paper show when you tear the page out. If you did this right, your note will be on the other side of the page in mirror-image writing. Hand the note to your DM and watch him go  . Then hand him the mirror and watch him go . BTW - Writing longhand is a bit easier than printing when you can't see what you're writing, and it gives more impressive results. |
| qlawdat04-13-06, 12:28 AM | Hire a group of twenty or so NPC's to follow the party everywhere and laugh and cheer, and all the other uses of a studio audiance. |
| Legacychampion04-13-06, 09:52 AM | #245: Play a bard, and whenever your party scores a victory against a monster, sing a song on how easy it was and how the DM wasn't trying (sing it in a VERY, VERY, jokingly matter, as the DM might want to throw something big at you if you don't) |

| Richmud04-15-06, 10:12 PM | A fun thread 247: Attempt to recreate videos games. | DracoDM0105-08-06, 07:56 PM | 252...maybe Get leadership and have everyone of your followers be a bard. HAve them all try and fascinate anything you see...such as a rabbit. And have them play theme music at the most inapropriate times, like when the rogue is sneaking. |
| GnomeMade05-09-06, 09:29 PM | 253. Be a wild mage, compulsive magic caster. 254. Be a high charisma rogue halfling or gnome female with a teddy bear who is constantly disguised as a child. Ask bad guys if they are your daddy. If they say no, ask them if they want to be. Use the shocked silence to flank and backstab the bad guy, and claim he was a meanie. 255. If your dm gives you access to a rod of wonder or a deck of many things, use them recklessly. 256. Call everyone by a random name...the same one. "Ok, so Charles here thinks that it's the orc cheif, Charles the Bloodyfisted that is causing all this problem, but Charles and Queen Charles insists that the real culpret is the mysterious fallen angel Charles." This one will likely get you slapped. :D 257. Try to take a cockroach swarm as an improved familiar. Name your character Joe. (Like the movie Joe's apartment...) 258. Play a sun elf who worships spiders, think up insanely long prayers and rituals for your spiderly worship and insist that Lloth is the great imposter, and that she has stollen glory from whatever spidergod you made up. (Works good with a fighter). Name your spider diety something absurd and hard to pronounce. Insist that you pray to it before meals, in taverns, when you cross a doorway, before you climb stairs and all sorts of things of that nature. Try to convert every drow you see. Tell them that they have been suckered. |
| speeblefreak05-09-06, 10:08 PM | 259. Be a spellcaster that knows Burning Hands. Spend all of your starting gold on oil, gunpowder and extradimensional conatiners. Sell anything you get except for the above and spend all your money on the above. Put all your spare time into researching a spell that can transport the contents of all your containers into one 5-ft cube. When the party comes up against the BBEG, cast the spell to transport all your oil and gunpowder onto the BBEG's head and follow it up with a quickened Burning Hands. Grin. 260. Become a ranged combat specialist with lots of portable holes and bags of holding. Insist on using your PHs and BoHs to send any enemy you come across into Rifts of Mysterious Doom. Make sure you use the words "Rifts of Mysterious Doom" at every opportunity. |
| Koretsu05-11-06, 02:35 AM | 261. Play a high level sorcerer, and between adventures, prepare copies of this note. Hand this note to people you want to kill. For best results, write it out in real life, and give it to the GM: EXPLOSIVE RUNES! Haha. I'm just kidding. I didn't really cas.... EXPLOSIVE RUNES! Oh, man, this is funny. I love watching your face each time you read the words EXPLOSIVE RUNES! Hehe... See? It just doesn't stop being funny. You keep flinching back in pai EXPLOSIVE RUNES! Oh, man. That just doesn't stop... Okay, okay. I'm done. Sorry. It's just amusing to see you EXPLOSIVE RUNES! Okay. Now it's getting old. You're not flinching as much. I'm sorry. It was a cruel joke... It's also kinda stupid... EXPLOSIVE RUNES... It's just not funny anymore. So sorry to have bothered you. P.S: I took Metamagic: Delay for my 12th level feat. |

"I'm showing the world that evil doesn't get ahead!" ...I swear, I did not see the pun until after I wrote it. :looloo: I have done this with every character I have ever made. So allow me to throw out a few ways to take it farther. 262. The first time I ever played my party killed a troll and I ,in what would become my tradition, decided to keep a body part as a trophy. I chose its head and when we arrived at the nearest town I went to the school and attempted to teach the children "headball" (soccer using a troll head for a ball). If I remember correctly we were arrested later that night. 263. Use an Intimidate check for any- and everything. In that same campaign prior to our arrest we found out there was a festival going on and there were contests for each of us. My character being the strongest was supposed to join the wrestling competition. Instead I wanted to join the archery contest with our ranger. The man running the contest said I needed a bow which my character didn't have. I instead Intimidated him into letting me use the Troll head. I ended up taking second to our ranger. 264. Once again in that same campaign, we later killed a green dragon. Using an untrained Craft (Taxedermy) check I gutted it, and using a equally untrained Craft (Puppet Making) check I turned it into a large horribly made massive hand puppet. My Stonechild had the strength to easily move the huge creature so I carried it back to town and used it and an unconcious party member (you don't even want to know how) to put on a *shock* untrained Perform (Pupeteering) show in the local market. This may or may not have led to an imprisonment and a possible death sentence. 265.Also I forget who mentioned MPD, but I once played a Goliath Barbarian who sought a peaceful solution to all conflicts and considered a personal failure when violence occured...of course when fighting broke out his eyes rolled back, he entered a rage, and screamed "KILLING TIME!" at the top of his lungs. When his rage ended he would have no idea what just happened and say "Did everything just taste purple for a second?". |
| GDarius05-12-06, 02:10 PM | 45. Be a Bard, and use amplify and that spell that makes instruments play themselves to make your own rock band. Trust me, a gnome screaming "WITH THE LIIIIGHTS OUUUUT.... THIS IS DAAAANGEROUUUUUS!" is not pretty. Heh, guilty. "Arcane Fire" or "They Might Be Frost Giants" anyone? |
| Dei05-13-06, 07:38 AM | 266:Change your character in some way at every session, not too obviously but just something small like redistributing skill points or changing a feat. See how long you can get away with it before he notices. Works better in high level games where there are more things to play around with. Bonus points if you can change your characters name (inform the other players so they can get in on it) without him calling you on it :P. |
| Damior05-13-06, 09:57 AM | 267 be a stupid orc barbarian. Name your greataxe. Draw a face on the blade. Insist that the axe is alive and that it get a share of the loot, food, etc. If you come across a ring of three wishes, wish for your axe to have a girlfriend. Ask axe for advice in battle. Insist on waiting for axes input before making decisions, etc. I have a character like this right now. |

| Dei05-13-06, 04:46 PM | also a great way to get kicked out of a group. That's why I said only in some small way, i.e. instead of having ranks in perform string and playing a harp, have ranks in perform wind and play a trumpet. In order for it to be a prank rather than cheating it can't be anything that affects combat in too great a way, that's why I mentioned the name thing, stuff that doesn't affect the game mechanic at all is really best for this, i.e. a cleric changing his God each week to a different one but one where he can get the same domain. He remains essentially the same character but the DM will have a few moments where he tries to remember wether or not it was in fact Lathander that you called on last week. It works best in light areas of the campaign where the whole group understands the concept of "It's only a game." |
| tharivol26605-13-06, 06:14 PM | not too obviously but just something small like redistributing skill points or changing a feat 99.9% of DMs consider that cheating. and as for the god swapping they each have their own domains. if you were caught doing this then your DM would just watch your sheet closer than anything before and it would just annoy everyone including yourself. |
| Ysera_the_destroyer05-13-06, 07:00 PM | 268) dont choose your languages or feats or other stuff like that untill you need them. eg. when u enter the goblin lair, write down goblin as a language |
| AmoAdytoCordis05-13-06, 08:52 PM | 269) The PCs sit down in game and actually role play that the characters are playing a game of DnD. It is the most confusing thing ever to DM. |
| Damior05-13-06, 09:33 PM | proper response by dm: int. bbeg learns about the insanity and sends someone to sunder/shatter/disentigrate the weapon. 270. when DM tries to ruin axe from 267, hold long funeral service for axe. Insist other PCs attend |
| Wonton200605-13-06, 10:08 PM | 271. Get a Brixashulty as a mount. Make sure you treat it well. Later, pay a druid to awaken it. Insist that Brixashulty is actually a typo of Bisexuality. Every time your character (with his trusty Brixashulty mount) meets any sort of horse-like creature (a horse, a goat, a centaur...), ask him (or her) what he or she thinks of it. Try to set them up on a date (despite one of them having 1 or 2 intelligence). When asked to stop, say "What, is it not allowed to express its sexual beliefs now??!!?!?" |
| High Octane05-14-06, 09:36 AM | Play a bard with ranks in perform (rap), and insist that you carry around a golden cup. WWWWWHAT? YEAH!! |
| Koretsu05-14-06, 11:15 AM | 272: Cast Hold Monster on a target. On your next round, cast Time Stop, and fill every extra round you get with Delayed Blast Fireballs, set to go off as soon as Time Stop ends. Watch your GM panic when you just blasted a creature for up to 100d6 points of fire damage, with no reflex save (due to the Hold Monster spell). For best results, take the delay and quicken metamagic feats, and add a quickened delayed Magic Missles after each round (Adding 25d4 + 50 force damage). If you can learn epic spells, use it in conjunction with Time Duplicate. ...I did that in an epic game once. Stoped everything for 10 minutes as everyone tried to figure out exactly what just happened. The maneuver, which eats up most of your higher level spells, was nicknamed "Boccob's Headache". It was upgraded to "Boccob's Migrane" after Time Duplicate was learned (effectivly doubling the damage). 273: Buy a Hand of the Mage. Insist on using it for every mundane purpose possible. Poke people with it in taverns. Pick your nose with it. Pick pockets with it. Ask the other characters if they're backs itch and scratch thier backs with it. 274: Take Exotic Weapon Proficientcy: Umbrella. Try to find a mage that will craft you a +5 Holy Umbrella of Speed. 275: Put one rank in every skill. Insist on being the party's trap finder/diplomat/crafter/scout, reguardless of your class skills, ability scores, or actual skill total. 276: Invent a new skill. Attempt to make a check for it at every possible moment. 278: Play a Hulking Hurler. Take the leadership feat, and roll a halfling Giant Slayer cohort. On the first round of battle, throw your cohort at the largest enemy within range. Also attempt to throw your other party members at enemies when ever possible. Throw your enemies at enemies when ever possible. |
| speeblefreak05-14-06, 01:53 PM | 279. Play a money-crazed sorcerer/monk with maxed-out ranks in Jump and a love of orbs of fire. He has a moustache and wears working clothes, preferably red and blue. If the DM throws that character out, play an elven fighter who wears all green and uses a sword and shield and is capable of speaking, but prefers not to. He also has a geometric tattoo and claims to "listen to the fairies." If the DM throws that charcter out, play an awakened juvenile T-rex with the chameleon template who has minimal practice with speech and wears shoes. |
| aj_morphius05-14-06, 02:12 PM | be a very uninteresting,too many question having,newbie. yep thatll definatly honk em off. |
| Lyranis05-14-06, 09:21 PM | 281: I think. Play a character with an 8 Wisdom and 8 Intelligence. 282: Make said character a Drow Bard. 283: Trip a Quickling carrying ale in a tavern. 284: Pick fights with the other characters during battles. 285: Have the person furthest from the DM use cheater dice. (Cheater dice have no 1's on them and have double the highest number; Ie: D20 has two 20's and no 1's) 286: Insist on pulling every rope, tapestry, anything hanging from a ceiling or a wall, without checking to see if it's attached to anything. 287: break out all the d6's and start an IC game of Hot Dice while in the middle of a dungeon. 288: Try to get any goblins to play with you. 289: Stick a pike through a zombie and insist on carrying him around as a weapon. (Zombie on a Stick) |

"It'sa Me" "The Silent Protagonist" and I don't Know. Forgive me if this is a little indecent. 290: Play and effeminate, whiny, obnoxious blond male monk, who prefers to fight nude using only his feet. 291: Ask to play an awakened wolf sorcerer with Natural Spell and Eschew Materials. (Okami) 292: Play an insane character that rants about how the world is really just a game and even the gods are puppets of the players. 293: Roleplay your character having to go to the bathroom whenever you need to use the bathroom during a game session. 294: Three Words: Noncombative Cheerleader Bard 295: Play a rude, nasty, miserable, fatalistic elf. Who likes to drink and never laughs or smiles without creeping someone out. |
| Arcane05-15-06, 04:25 AM | 296. (my apologies if this has been previously posted) Play a paladin. |
| Lyranis05-15-06, 01:57 PM | 296. (my apologies if this has been previously posted) Play a paladin. Only about 5 times. ;) |
| Trill_the_Ranger05-16-06, 07:24 PM | As you enter every town/city/place of population.....Ask the Dm what types of cheese are made in that area and insist that you have to try each kind before continuing :D |

| stargate52505-16-06, 09:15 PM | CHEEEEEESE! Numberwhatever: Insist on using FISH! as a battle cry. Or CHEESE! works too! I find the earth-rattling cry of SPOOOOOOOONNN! is enough to rout most of my enemies. and on that note... 298. ask the local smith to make you a giant spoon as a weapon. Use as often as possible. (catapult, feeding the giant, shovel, etc.) |
| b3jsd73jfx05-17-06, 11:40 AM | (We skipped a number, this is actually 300) 300. Pick a name that an NPC has, develop a tick where you must kill anyone with that name. I actually did this with my Rogue/Assassin and people named "Ed". Imagine our parties faces when they woke up to find Captain Ed missing and no one else had the slightest idea on how to properly sail a ship! |
| Ysera_the_destroyer05-17-06, 10:56 PM | 301) if your a wizard, learn prismatic sphere. Go on a tarrasque hunting mission. Get swallowed by it and cast prismatic sphere inside the tarrasque. |
| Manus05-18-06, 12:41 AM | I admit, I read page one, and then skipped to page 7, so apologies if this has been done: 302: Play a warforged bard (so what if it's a charisma hit?). "I am the Nimbus Industries Laborer, Model 8. Now with Itunes." 303: Once they get over that, put your face inches away from another player and say: "Perhaps you would like to take this time to register me. Or I can remind you later." Only communicate using song lyrics. (I didn't give that one a number because I figure in the pages I didn't read, SOMEBODY would have had to come up with that one, even if they're not a warforged bard with itunes.) 304: When the party tries to rest for the night, insist that your warforged bard keeps playing soft music and lullabies. 305: Bring your ipod and speakers to the game table. Give every moment of the game your own personal sound track. |
| Trill_the_Ranger05-21-06, 12:48 PM | Thats Awsome Manus!!! Advice taken :D to add on your warforged bard...because i have actually played one XD seeing as they need not breathe play a flute or other wind instrament........create your air via pumping your foot up and down to create that needed airflow :D did this one :D |
| LivingShadow06-04-06, 11:35 AM | 306: Buy a helm of opposite alignment (4000gp) and give it to the BBEG as a gift (will be very funny seeing a chaotic evil BBEG turn paladin-like) |
| rogue_lettuce06-04-06, 12:54 PM | 28: Insist that you want to have sex with every NPC you come across. And if told no, start rolling dice to do it anyway. Errr dude. You only roll dice when there's a reasonable chance of failure and it's an important event. Exactly how much do you think can go wrong when you're having sex? |
