| ridiculous07-22-05, 03:33 PM | Those need not to be actual moves your characters have done in-game, but it must be relatively realistic anyway... My moves were actually done by me, playing a first level dwarven cleric of Kord if I remember correctly... 1. I and a friend started kicking a rolled flaming bedroll on a giant spider for like 1d4 damage, but it was quite fun :D 2. I sneaked up behind a goblin and put a chain shirt with collar and sleeves closed up on him like a bag of some sort and holding it down while my friend proceeded to beat him to a pulp with a mace... I've done a couple more weird moves but I don't remember it well... it turned out we only played this campaign for maybe 8 hours total, but in those 8 hours I've made only one or two normal attacks... |
| Nitneuq Onitnarat07-22-05, 03:53 PM | 3. Gnome ranger riding on the orc barbarians shoulders using the ride skill then shooting down off of him into the melee. |
| On_the_wings_of_TPK07-22-05, 04:02 PM | Had a player use a portable battering ram to attack a Bone yard that was grappling another party member. Had another player use 'orcish moonshine' to blast an evil party half way back to hell. |
| Nitneuq Onitnarat07-22-05, 04:26 PM | I've got a character right now who has a hipflask of moonshine and several cigars. Thats going to be fun :) |
| Light of Day07-22-05, 05:56 PM | Saw a barbarian use an unconscious NPC cleric as a missile weapon once. Threw him down the stairs as a group of fighters charged up at us. Tragic thing is, cleric sailed right over their heads, landed on his own head and broke his neck. Died instantly. :ghosted: DM was not happy, to say the least. Nor was the church, come to think of it. Ah... good times. |
| BlueLion07-23-05, 08:21 AM | A wizard player of mine once tried to get an enemy monster by flying over it's head and dropping a bag of holding onto it. He succeeded a ranged touch attack at -4 (non-proficient with bag of holding) but I ruled that the creature's shoulders were too wide. It was simply lost its move action to pull the bag off it's head. Still, it was a commendable idea! Maybe try it on goblins and such. P.S. The monster in question was an original creation of mine, not found in the PHb. |
| the_fools_wildhunt07-23-05, 12:09 PM | I had a player in a Greyhawk game use an Immovable Rod as a weapon. They were being swooped by a Cryosphinx, it was kicking their but with Fly-by Attack and so 1 player readyied an action and gained its attention. As it swooped and got very close, he whipped out the rod and clicked it into place head height in front of him. CRUNCH!!!! It flipped of it and landed on the player but it was well and truly grounded. |
| CaviosDaryll07-23-05, 12:22 PM | The only one I can think of right now was one me and this other player did. We had both been captured and were seperated from the group (I forget how), anyways, we had gotten the attention of some guards by placing a bowl and a ladder (We were carrying both around) and then when they finally noticed it we grabbed them and ran. Unfortunately, my guy was in Fullplate, so he ran kind of slowly, and the guys behind us were catching up. So as we were running I pulled out a lot of oil and poured it all over the hallway as we were running, the other player was a wizard and lit the oil on fire. Because the guys were right behind us, they had no time to react, and they slipped on the oil and into the fire. This pretty much saved us because it took down a few of them. New Dual Tech acquired! Unfortunately it was the only time we ever used that 'Dual Tech', it was pretty effective too. |
| Ze_Mighty_Vegetable07-23-05, 06:53 PM | I played a monk/priest (I thought of him as a paladin of kord) who had to fight a twisted, corrupted, insect-loving druid on a huge stag beetle (we were level 3). The guy was described as fouled and corrupted, with insects crawling out of his mouth and skin. We already knew that the world's insctes were causing a deadly plague that was decimating the world. The party being separated, I was assisted by a friendly druid I met a few hours ago (new PC, whose player I knew to be constantly on the side of the underdog, nature and a pretty strange definition of justice). now, the druid and the corrupted druid talked about nature's true children and other esoteric stuff, and, to my horror, my ally strated to agree with the monstrous druid. I had to do something. We had a few... osties? (what's the english word, host? the "bread" in christian rituals...) that were to be swallowed for a total cleansing of the plague should we ever be infected. I palmed one in my hand (sleigh of hand) and jumped at him as if to strike him and threw it as an improvised shuriken in the bastard's mouth. I managed to hit my mark, and he was down for a few rounds, as the cleasing power acted as a poison in his horribly corrupted system. I died in this fight, but was so proud of my character's death that it didn't matter. |
| xlawedjeanne07-23-05, 07:48 PM | ripping off a hobgoblins arm and using it as a flail and ripping out dire rats teeth as shield spikes |
| RaspK FOG07-23-05, 08:14 PM | Saw a barbarian use an unconscious NPC cleric as a missile weapon once. Threw him down the stairs as a group of fighters charged up at us. Tragic thing is, cleric sailed right over their heads, landed on his own head and broke his neck. Died instantly. :ghosted: DM was not happy, to say the least. Nor was the church, come to think of it. Ah... good times. Did something similar once... I was playing a rather, well, traditional druid (TN, bone scimitar, stone dagger, hide armour, usually not wearing but his robes instead; really nice character to play) and I picked up one of the "bad guys" (who, among other things, had the gull to variably abuse some female captives they had in their hideout, some elves and amazons, actually) and, taking him out on the balcony, unconscious as he was after the beating he took, I raised him over the head, talked to the then freed captives, even made a speech in Sylvan about the retribution Great Mother deals unto those who defy and defile her, then ended it with: "Feast upon him..." and threw him off the balcony down to the ground; luckily, for my sense of justice, he wasn't dead when they started flaying every bit and piece of his off his bones... |

| redkite07-23-05, 09:38 PM | It works best if you cast invisibility on the rod, so the enemy has no chance to evade it. And since it is just floating there, it doesn't lose its invisibility. I was able to use one several times as the enemy in question thought I was casting a spell of some kind (which I encouraged as much as possible). My favorite use of the rod was against a charging rhino (it didn't care that a little stick was floating in front of it - BIG mistake). |
| REvil7407-23-05, 11:03 PM | My brother was a elf with the winged template (not an avariel) and dive-bombed a humanoid target from 300ft up in the air. Or at least tried.... |
| Lhiannon Sidhe07-24-05, 02:07 AM | Two particularly strange combat manuevers I've used come to mind: 1) While being assaulted by cultists, the part took refuge in a tower along the docks of the city, this tower served as a store room for the navy, and so we drove off the cultists by dropping dried meat and barrels of grog on them as they tried to scale the tower. 2) By jamming Murlynd's Spoon into the helmet of a foe, I was able to drown him with gruel. |
| ting-bu-dong07-24-05, 04:58 AM | Hi, low-level utility spells are always the best for cool combat moves. Animate rope is one of the most useful ones, since the average opponent does not have many ranks in escape artist (I don't have the spell's details in my head, but basically it is resisted with skills most NPCs don't have), so you can do interesting things with them, such as entangling an opponent by his feet and making him hang from the ceiling, or pulling away his feet so his head slams into a tabletop. This way you can neutralize an opponent for a couple of rounds. Manacles are fun, too. As I understand them, they just snap shut when being applied and require the key only when they're opened. Chaining an opponent to terrain (such as a fence) or chaining two opponents to another can greatly annoy the DM (I don't know the specific rules for that, but we just used a melee touch attack that drew an attack of opportunity to pull off). Things like that make bards a lot of fun to play since they get all the tools for that. The trouble is that non-humanoid characters are more resistant to such maneuvers. But I played a bard around lv 6-7 and it worked pretty fine. tbd |
| BadCatMan07-24-05, 11:34 AM | My dwarf fighter once had a Fly spell cast on him (to get out of trap pit). We rounded a corner into a room full of enemies and the evil wizard summoned some skeletons in front of him. The DM reminded me that I was still flying, so I had my dwarf rocket over the top of the skeletons (Rocket Dwarf!) and attack the wizard. Once done, he flew back and around a corner, where a troll was bashing some dwarf NPCs badly. I rocketed into the troll, but bounced off and landed on a nearby table. Remembering that trolls are vulnerable to fire, my dwarf pulled out a flask of oil and lighter. He tossed the oil on the troll, but the troll grappled him in response. A spell from the sorcerer stunned the troll, my dwarf wriggled loose and lit up the troll. Fwoomph! * * * Another time, we were in a room full of pillars. Some pillars were in fact gargoyles and attacked us. It was a hard fight, and with the pillars, NPCS and other PCs battling the gargoyles, my dwarf couldn't get close enough to join in. So he went around, and pushed hard against a pillar. It toppled over and flattened the two gargoyles. * * * Later my dwarf bull-rushed someone out of a window, and fell out as well. I had thought it was a door the previous week. |
| Duroton07-24-05, 11:46 AM | Theoretically, with a high enough spellcraft check, and a little luck, someone could deminsional slide an immovable rod into their chest... *Ouch* |
| Taim Kelrathos07-24-05, 01:03 PM | This is another story from the Gnome Campaign... The Hexblade (me) and the Warlock (Anthony) had just been captured by a group of hostile goblins. We awoke to find ourselves naked (but not in pain) in a jail cell. Our jailer came by to taunt us, and we insulted him, his mother, his sexual preferences with his mother, and his breath. As he was trying to open the door the Warlock hit him the his Elderich blast and failed the save, gaining -2 to his rolls. As soon as the door opened my Hexblade Cursed him, giving him another -2 to all of his rolls. So the poor, enraged goblin rushes in, and we decide to melee him. With no equipment. Despite the fact we were incurring AoO every round we took no damage and beat him to death. That's right, two naked Gnomish spell casters with out Improved Unarmed Strke beat a goblin to death. We got EXP bonuses for that :D |
| Cirein Amakiir07-24-05, 02:40 PM | My group had just started a LOW magic campaign. I was a swashbuckler, another was a samurai, another was a scout, and there was a fighter/theif. The Scout (names Kyle) decided to find the biggest toughest guy in the prison camp we were thrown into. He found him...big guy named Jarl. Kyle rolled a natural 19 on his "charm" check as he put it and Jarl was beginning to "like" our friend. I stepped in, apparantly to save him from certain fornication, only to bet Kyle's body against a single gold piece to get started on bribing our way out. My DM being a rather sadistic fellow, allowed Kyle's player to roll the stats for the behemoth. It was a fistfight...I thought he would be a barbarian or something...he was a monk. The fight itself was uneventful...and I got lucky and won. (weapon finesse and insightful strike applied to my fists too somehow) After a few days in camp we decided to break and run. We took down the shantys around the area and decided to make a ladder...only to find we had no material to hold it together. We had loincloths.... So after stripping naked and making our ladder, my character used his innate ability to fly (swift, fly/every character has a 1st or 2nd level spell once per day in this campaign) to get the ladder up. I used dual "thumpers" being...two sticks treated as clubs. To kill a half-doven or so guards. As I rounded the corner on the wall I was confronted by three more guards. I asked the DMs...can I change out for multiweapon fighting to get three attacks. Realizing the implications he immediately said no...and laughed a good deal. He did however, give me a bonus on my forthcoming intimidate check. |
| Andrew_98007-24-05, 05:28 PM | Our worsed one was the time we had to kill a dragon as it was swooping down on the village. they gave my minotaur a ring of jump and put him in the catapult, activating the ring as they fired. he died on impact, driving his horns deep into the dragon and bringing it down. It was a good death :D |
| wizkid07-24-05, 05:48 PM | While i havnt tryed this i intend to in the next campain. If there are building supports going accros the ceiling I intend on taking the nails out of them with mage hand or something. Supports fall on enemy roof almost falls on me as i'm running out. :P party members  Party members look up:   :censored: :twitch: :OMG! |
| Bran_Dawri07-24-05, 05:56 PM | We were defending a village from a huge horde of kobolds. Because there were so many (and they were equipped with save-or-die poisoned weapons), we'd decided to go up on the rooftops and use some mass damage from there before finishing off the stragglers. For some reason, my character (a fighter-mage) fell off the roof into a street filled with kobolds. DM: Next round, you'd better win the initiative roll and come up with something really clever, or you're just dead. Those kobolds have a save-or-die poison on their weapons." Next round, I win initiative. After some not-so-hard thinking: Me: Ok. Got it. Fireball. DM: Well, that'll kill the ones in front of you if you place it right, but there's still too many surrounding you to live. Me: You misunderstand. Fireball. Range: 0. DM: :mymy: |
| Gurv07-24-05, 06:05 PM | Theoretically, with a high enough spellcraft check, and a little luck, someone could deminsional slide an immovable rod into their chest... *Ouch* I don't know about that one, but creatures with a "swallow whole" attack have been put in a terrible situation by one character with an immovable rod. He would get swallowed, activate the rod, and then dimension door away. |
| Ulthwe07-24-05, 07:13 PM | I don't know about that one, but creatures with a "swallow whole" attack have been put in a terrible situation by one character with an immovable rod. He would get swallowed, activate the rod, and then dimension door away. I did something similar in a 1 game lvl 20 arena of death session. I was a sorcerer. I allowed the tarrasque to swallow me whole(with some countermeasures for acid damage and the like) and when I got in there decided to cast prismatic sphere. So this sphere was inside him and it touched new flesh every turn (complicated discussion followed wether this was or was not possible and we decided it was) so it got the effects. turned out it didn't do **** due to its awefull saves but it was worth the try. |
| burnt_to_crisp07-24-05, 07:24 PM | where do i start?... we were finally at the end of the adventure, all we had left was to finish the boss of some evil cult, a shade (template from races of faerun, for those who don't know). we knew it was going to be hard, since we managed to anger him the last time we failed to kill him... he kinda teleported away after i fireballed him... him and the 100 pound of alchemist fire we put under his foot as a trap :P . we prepare for the battle for 10 minutes, and when we finally break in the room he's at, the bloody rouge rolls a 20, killing him on the spot.... he did stuff like that like 7 times already.... a few weeks ago we were supposed to kill off a few dozens of fire elementals that are coming out of an active volcano, we were standing over the edge, looking down on them, besides rolling massive stones on them, which was fun :D the rouge had nothing to do realy, being unable to sneak attack the elementals, so he grabbed my decanter of endless water (handiest item in existence if you ask me), jumped on the avariel monk, and they flew higher. there he shot with the geyser mode of the decanter through the npc creature that my DM invented (incorporeal, freezes whatever passes through her) that was in our party and onto the heads of the surprised elementals below.... my DM went  and started banging his head on the table... another fight that ended before it began thanks to the rouge... at one point we had a race against a few other parties: who could pass the mile-long traped maze the fastest (each party had a maze of it's own). we were walking in the city's sewer lines, in a pipe that went slightly downwards, when the npc wizard said "oops"... ":banghead:" we all responded as a large indiana jones-style boulder came out of the ceiling and started rolling in our diraction, i failed the concentration check for the wall of force, so the 32 strength fighter took things to his hands... and pushed the rest of the party onto shields (he had about 30 of them, he never leaves weapons behind...) and gave them a little push... the next thing we knew we were sliding in the sewer pipe, going a 100 miles an hour... it didn't help when the bloody npc wizard decided to get rid of the boulder, the hard way... she cast fireball at it, the burst only made us go faster.... fearing a fast aproaching wall, we ruind a few weapons trying to slow us down... it didn't work.... luckly for us there was no wall, only a pool of green, slimy and smelly "water"... we bounced over them like pebbles, flying through the finish line and almost killing the judge before we stopped. |
| celtredleg07-24-05, 07:36 PM | Back in either ODND or 1E, you could use one of the varios polymorph spells(I dont remeber what the exact name was) could basicly poly anything into anything. We where in one of those dungeon crawls that doesnt have any sense, no reason for anything just a big maze with monsters in rooms. Anyway, we went into one very large room that had this huge monster, sort of like a dire elephant or some such. The party mage polymorphed him into a pebble. End of encounter. As everybody was searching for the loot, I pocketed the pebble. Several rooms and fights later, we opened a door to a room that was not very large, but full of small nasty oponents. I thought we could let them fight the elephant to soften them up, so I tossed the pebble into the room, and the mage dispeled magic on it. Turns oput the elephant was largewr than the room he appeared in, with very messy results. After that we house ruled that you could not do that anymore, kust because. But it was very cool one time. |
| codexia07-24-05, 11:22 PM | It seems enemies make good weapons...that or people tend to be sadistic. In a campaign I was playing in, it was me and several others, as well as my brother (the barbarian) who is really the only one that matters at this point for the story. He was in the middle of a rage when the battle ended, one of the kobolds we were fighting had surrendered. However, instead of letting us capture the kobold (the kobold had hit him for a crit during the battle...he was ******) he picked up the kobold and proceeded to use him as a battering ram against the locked steel door in front of us. The best part though, he didn't actually get the chance to do that. The door opened from the other side because a bugbear and two more kobolds heard fighting and wanted to see what was going on. He basicly ends up letting go of the kobold in mid-swing and hurling it straight into the bugbear, who falls back on top of the kobolds with a now dead kobold covering his face. The DM counted it as a kill and he cleaved straight through both other living kobolds and almost killed the bugbear ^^; It was a very strange way to end a potential ambush. |
| Thalis07-25-05, 12:23 AM | In my last session we got confronted/harassed by two bugbears in the slums of a town. so me (fighter) and the swashbuckler said f this and proceeded to sunder theirs belts in the surprise round. and then we both won initiative and bullrushed the bugbears. since they both had their pants around their ankles, they had to make a balance check to stay afoot. they failed. so with in a matter of seconds there were two bugbears with no pants on the street with swords to their throats. very amussing at the time. |
| Valgaav07-25-05, 07:21 AM | where do i start?... at one point we had a race against a few other parties: who could pass the mile-long traped maze the fastest (each party had a maze of it's own). we were walking in the city's sewer lines, in a pipe that went slightly downwards, when the npc wizard said "oops"... That was awesome. I can just imagine a Kender in the same situation, on a shield flying at near 200 miles an hour, yelling "EXTREEEEEEEEME!" and hitting the judge. now I'm gonna have to do that. |
| burnt_to_crisp07-25-05, 09:39 AM | a few months ago, we were adventuring with an npc barbarian dwarf, we were trying to reach the top of a volcano through the caves in the mountain. as we walked over a bridge that was hanging over the lava, we heard a roar. yep, my DM is realy that expectable, a red dragon apeard, an old red dragon... not the kind of thing you want to fight on a bridge that hanging over lava.... so the fighter did the only thing he could think of, he threw the dwarf at the dragon... the dwarf rolled three 20s, an instant kill... i could see the headlines "a flying dwarf chopped a dragon's head off and fell to his doom" :D something like that happend a year ago, when he was playing an epic fighter. he attacked a bunch of enemies, when an oger criticaled him with a lance, he got ****** off, grabbed the oger and started using him as a very large flail against the rest of the enemy, i don't think he ever did as much damage as he did that day... it was very fun to watch the expression of the DM "critical, dead, cleave, critical, dead, cleave, critical, dead, cleave LET ME SEE THAT DICE!" |
| BloodGod07-25-05, 10:52 AM | The group owns both a castle and a keep. We decide to have the keep put at a crossroads, as a checkpoint of sorts. The Fighter's Fighter cohort and followers go and inhabit it. Good deal, I didn't want to divide up my army. Next session or two later, the fighter ends up in jail. We break him out, but fail to retrieve his gear. The player deicides that the Fighter feels he's spent too much time and wasted too much of his life with this group, and just walks out. Next session, we realize, hey wait, that dude's followers were holding our keep. By now, he's made a new character. We decide to go check out the keep, see what's up. We go. The lich in the campaign had already turned the fighter against us. The whole area surrounding the keep is pretty well trapped. But our high level rogue disarms them all, no problem. We all choose our different trasnportation modes as we aproach the keep. Rogue goes invisible. Sorcerer is flying via Fly spell. My half ogre is walking. Cleric is following behind me. Cleric being the dude's new character. We get into the castle. It's a long fight. A lot of low level archers. Big problem is that an assasin guild was in league with the lich. So, we get into the courtyard, there's a large number of at least first level assasins all leaning against the inside walls, with light crossbows at arm's length. Ahead of us is the leader of the guild and his two bodyguard. The leader dressed in all black, his bodyguards in all white. We figure this odd, but pass it off as just one of those things. Our rogue/assasin starts offing the low level assasins. The cleric summons demons. The sorcerer is toasting archers and keeping up stoneskin on me. The leader, dressed in black, and his two croneys, polymorph to their true forms. Dragons. Two white dragons and a black. After a long battle, it's just one white dragon left. We have an audience in the king and the lich, and each have two followers with them. Each side has some powerful version of Tenser's Floating Disk, and have been watching the fight all along. So, in my turn I line up with the dragon. The cleric has some demons keep the dragon in the same spot. Sorcerer casts prismatic wall. I bullrush the white dragon through the prismatic wall, turning him to stone. I enjoyed that to no end. It was the perfect end to such a hardfought battle. (Especially when the cleric wasn't healing.) -BG |
| Lycanthromancer07-25-05, 12:00 PM | We were on our way to an island in the middle of a bay, in a boat just large enough to hold our party of 10. Since we had heard that there were monsters somewhere in the bay, I had my Thri-Kreen Ranger keep his eyes on the water, searching for signs of large bodies underneath us, and readied an action to activate my cloak of flying the moment I saw something threatening. Out of the water came four huge-sized monsters, looking "vaguely similar to sharks." My cloak activated, I watched as the things chewed the rest of the party to bits, including the party bard, who was stuck halfway in one monster's mouth. The bard had begged the DM (her husband, in real life) for a Figure of Wondrous Power: Marble Elephant, which she had named Bobo (which was, incidentally, the activation password). Since she was half-in/half-out of the shark's maw, she pulled out the figure, thrust it deeply inside the shark, shouted "COME, BOBO!", and then was swimming around in shark-fin soup when the thing exploded in little shark-shaped bits. Needless to say, Bobo was...quite surprised... Best. Attack. Ever. |
| Stalking Wraith07-25-05, 01:25 PM | Adding some more good ones to the list: --> Two friends, a halfling ranger and a human rogue, come into a tavern and inn. Within the minute they have turned the entire tavern populace against them, killed everyone downstairs and built a makeshift barricade for the halfling rogue in front of the door. The Human goes upstairs, finds children. He grabs a torch, sets fire to the children, and then throws them out of the window at the people trying to get into the tavern and inn. The ending of this sad story is that the two killed off the entire town. The End. --> A halfling rogue (the same player as the halfling ranger before) decides to make a backflip while firing his crossbow. rolls a natural twenty on his attack-roll and a natural one on his jump roll. DM's Ruling: Fell on his head buit killed the target with the critical hit, he also took 2D6 of damage from the fall. --> Backflipped off from the battle, (yes, another halfling rogue) he failed the jump check, at least five times, he almost killed himself. --> Archer, in the top of a tower. Large groups of enemies coming up to the top. He looks around and finds a bookshelf and pushes it down the stairs. He later throws down another bookshelf and lets his friend, a monk, ride down on it. Unfortunatly he failed the balance check and fell face first as he rolled down the stars behind the crashing bookshelf. |
| Longarms07-25-05, 03:30 PM | Hey I like the shackle idea... What about any spell that causes inactivity for one round? Like the spell daze cast by one combatant, then his comrade uses his turn to shackle they dazed opponent's right arm to his left ankle!!!\\ :D |
| theif lord07-25-05, 07:28 PM | party barbarian used my monk as a club on his rounds, on my rounds i delt unarmed damaged to those he hit |
| Ulthwe07-25-05, 07:49 PM | I did something similar to the shieldsurfing thing once. Situation: we we're in an immensely long tunnel which was completely out of ice but it looked as though carved by dwarves(such craftmanship). We didn't have much food and after 1 day we didn't know wether or not we would make it to the other side so decided a faster way of transportation. We made the druid change into a giant turtle and the barbarian and me(ranger) sat on top of it. We we're pulled by the wizard who had a phantom steed and pushed by the pyromancer(who hard forcepush). We wen't on until suddenly the tunnel began going downwards. I saw the danger coming in advance and jumped off at about 60 Mph. Slowing down with my weapons and some help of the pyromancer. The barbarian jumped of little later. The druid however had no good way of slowing down and retreated into it's shell hoping for the best. When he came at the end of the tunnel he crossed a giant icelake and then an upwards slope ( like 1 half of a halfpipe). He flew into the sky and dropped to the ground after making several spins and loops in the air. He recieved something of 2d10 damage or so. Was very very cool :D |
| Leibel07-26-05, 01:14 AM | Situation: Hometown being attacked My PC was an elf ranger who went the archer way. After the seige tower's hit the wall and the hobgoblin grunts came out I ran out of arrows then went to my trusty short swords; they got stuck in some hobber infantry guy's and I could not pull them out; I went for my hand axe but instead but instead pulled out my scroll case containing the map of the county; it hits on hobber and he's so stunned by this ridiculous attack he says is that you g..... as his buddy who charged up behind with a spear thrust it into his back; I picked up the dead hobber's long sword and went back to regular tactics but it was well weird. |
| Tiran07-26-05, 01:15 AM | I've seem some pretty weird and random items used as weapons. -A friend almost escaped a goblin's camp armed with a soul ladle and nothing else. He would have escaped but his missed his last attack roll by 1 and was knocked out. Granted it probably helped that he had 18 Str. -I once killed a goblin with an egg. We were all new to dnd, and for some reason I thought it would be funny to buy the large thing of eggs in the player's handbook. I decided to throw them at enemies and the DM for who knows what reason ruled that eggs did 1 damage when thrown. He also happened to roll 1hp for that goblin. I ko'd a goblin with an egg to the face. Too bad the player's handbook didn't have pies listed. -I was dming for a friend (when we were new) and he decided to throw his gold since he had no ranged weapons. |
| Light of Day07-26-05, 07:54 AM | Fortunatly this one never actually happened, but I once played a kobold who very nearly got wielded by the party's half-dragon barbarian. We'd just found a blackguard who's greatsword the DM described as looking very fancy, and we could feel the intense unholy power radiating from it. Barbarian: Sweet! I want that sword! Wait, unholy? I can't use that! It'll give me a negative level! Kobold (me): Heh. I could use it without the negative level, except it's far too large for me and I'm not proficent with it anyway. What a shame... Barbarian: Hmm... what if you hold the sword, and I wield you! Then I won't get the negative level, right? Kobold: I don't think that'll work... like I said, I'm far too small and weak to hold it properly... Barbarian: Well... I could just tie it to you... Kobold: But... the wieght of the sword... you'd break all my bones if you swung me with that thing attached to me! Barbarian: So? Kobold:  Fortunatly, Mr blackguard didn't want to part with his sword, so the barbarian never got a chance to test his plan. However, I'm still haunted by the rather disturbing mental image of a raging half-dragon barbarian wielding a terrified kobold who is in turn wielding a huge evil sword about three times as big as she is. |
| Dark_beebles07-26-05, 08:02 AM | When 3e 1st came out kind of new to the rules..we were fighting a dragon and it did its tail whip against the party..well our cleric was still on his horse..Dm decided he couldnt get a relfex save being on the horse so he asked if he could make a ride check to jump the dragons tail while on his horse..he rolled Natural 20..then again so the dm gave it to him lol. Paralyzed some ftr once as my assassin with a piece of fruit...The inn we were in didnt allow any sort of weapons being wielded or even as a "side arm". Ftr was talking crash (was studying him for a death attack) and when he turned his back and got to the door i asked the dm if there was any fruit (apple, orange, pear, cheese, mug) he said ya..so i quickdrawed it and threw it 30 feet and hit him..failed the DC and was paralyzed from a dried banana! Fighting on some snowy slopes...and caused a avalanche..so the dwarf put his sheild in the snow and asked if he could ride it like a suft board...made the balance check.."ride" check to stay up and steer it down the mnt. |
