| Metabubbles08-23-05, 04:28 PM | My personal background; Moved into town, went to Church found a group that role-plays D&D. They reluctantly invited me in (being the 5th person and all) and we have had a blast. The DM (we will call him DM1) took a 2 month break (we were to say the least anxious to play another game) we play awhile, then DM1's wife is pregnant. No big deal, but 6 months later we must take an extended break. Another player starts his own game and invites DM1 to take part (which he does :) We play for awhile, it gets pretty crazy, we had 3 players so we decided to do Gestalt rules (2 classes instead of 1) and we find a 4th player so now we seem over powerful. Now DM1 wants to start the old game (at the prodding of his lovely wife whom is in the game, but not the new game) so I am unable to attend 2 games a week (at the prodding of my lovely wife...). I feel bad because I wasn't part of the original crew and am keeping the other players from playing both games. We pretty much agree to play the first game and hold on DM2's game. *PROBLEM * DM1 is very unreliable we have cancelled 2 games recently. DM2 is frustrated and wants to play his game if we must pick one to play. It will leave DM1's wife out of the picture which will cause many problems. *Solution * per say; I think we should play 'both' but I will only participate in game #2 (since we have sooo many people in our 1st game anyways). Should I even suggest it to the DM's? Thanks. |

If not, play in the group you have more fun in, where more of your friends are in, that plays reliable (choose your favorite from these). |

If DM 1 cancels, at least you guys aren't going weeks or months at a time not playing. If DM 1 can't make it to DM 2's game...then he can't play. At least you're giving him the option of playing his own game if he is a little more reliable. On another note, 4 player games seem to be the best, but 6 can be pretty fun too. I am in a situation right now where I could be barely get 3 NEW players to join my wife and I for gaming. Now, all of our other friends have heard about it and want in. I can potentially have a group of 7 members and I am hesitant about it. So I can see your problem. |

I play in an alternating campaign on the weekends; it's working out ok but it's a bit difficult to RP, given that nobody remembers who/what their PC is supposed to be doing, or even the general plotline. I have to read from my notes every session to bring the other players up to speed. Personally, I'd stick with the reliable DM. |

| Shandrakor08-24-05, 05:01 AM | PLAYING in a group of 13 is great. DMing...is another story. I DMed for a group of 13 for a year -- at the end of it, I instituted the ol' 6 Player Cap rule. 13 people is just too many, unless you're co-DMing. |
