| Currahee_Chris12-29-06, 08:51 AM | Hello: I am just curious if anyone has encountered this. I have a third level fighter who has two weapon fighting as a feat. He wields a double bladed sword. My DM is telling me that he cannot make two attacks per round as he is only third level and hasn't earned the iterative attacks yet. I cannot seem to locate this rule in the PHB nor can he- I thought the whole point of double bladed weapons was that you could make extra attacks at the expense of accuracy. Thanks, CC |
| Khisanth Magus12-29-06, 09:03 AM | Read the description for the two-bladed sword. It clearly states that you can use it as if you were using 2 weapons, as such you gain an offhand attack. The rules for 2 weapon fighting are in the phb combat chapter at the end of the special attacks section. Your level makes no difference. The additional attacks you gain when you reach +6 BAB are for your main hand. |
| Ryusage12-29-06, 09:13 AM | You have 2 attacks per round, albeit at a -2 penalty. Once you have a BAB of +6/+1, you have 3 attacks per round. |

TWO-WEAPON FIGHTING If you wield a second weapon in your off hand, you can get one extra attack per round with that weapon. ... Double Weapons: You can use a double weapon to make an extra attack with the off-hand end of the weapon as if you were fighting with two weapons. That full text is on PHB p. 160. Further... If you get more than one attack per round because your base attack bonus is high enough, because you fight with two weapons or a double weapon or for some special reason you must use a full-round action to get your additional attacks....which indicates that there is more than one way to get extra attacks, is on p. 143. |

| High Octane12-30-06, 12:53 PM | Yes. Of course. Why wouldn't you? I didnt know the the weapon was actually treated as 2 weapons or not. Luckily I have helpful mature people on the forums to help me. WizO_Cat: Let's keep the posts on the subject of the thread, not other guests. Thanks. |
