In the most resent session my DM put us up against an Iron Golem and we couldn't touch the thing. Our dwarven fighter was swinging a +3 mecurial maul and hit with a 31 but was doing no dmg. My dire wolf animal comp. with Imp Natural Attk times two was doing 20 to 28 pts of dmg and nothing. Now I know that my animal comp. didn't have any enchantment bonus to bypass DR but does the Iron golem have DR over 28 in 3.0? or does my DM not understand DR? |
| Nagol06-24-04, 07:41 PM | In 3.0 Iron Golems have a DR of 50/+3. So, if it was a standard Iron Golem, the +3 weapon should be doing damage. There are a couple of possibilities: Was the DM using a pre-made adventure? In 3.5 golems have DR / Adamantine so he may have confused the versions of D&D. Also, certain pre-made adventures have Iron Golems with different levels of invulnerability. Mordikainen's Magnificent Adventure contains an Iron Golem that can only be damaged by 3 weapons in the same area as it is, for example. Was the DM using a custom adventure? He may have thought that a standard Iron Golem was not pwerful enough and built a tougher one. Or he was just wrong. No way for us to be sure. |

| Duke Lupo06-30-04, 12:16 PM | If you have access to it, you can always just Gate in a bunch of rust monsters. |
| preacher of nothing06-30-04, 03:04 PM | aaah yes..rust monsters...the bane of all golems and metal using characters. Once thought of a way to attack the archdevil Dispater's armies with a hoard of rust monsters.... |
