| Harmor02-27-04, 05:55 PM | We're at a point where we are going to kick a PC character from the party because his character has not been helping us enough. My character has spoken with all the other party members and they all agree. This guy has been playing his character within his alignment. So I can't fault him for not playing in character, its just in character all the other characters don't want him. How do you guys deal with some of the OOC issues? |
| Rian Lightblade02-27-04, 06:06 PM | I would talk to the player OOC before taking any in game action. Tell the player what problems the group is having with his playing style and what changes need to be made. Or talk to your DM about it and have him talk with the player. If he doesn't know what's wrong, because nobody took the time to tell him, then he can't fix or alter anything. So even if you kick out his PC his next one is likely to be the same and the problem will just resurface. As far as OOG issues I can't say anything cause who'll know what those will be. He might take it just fine and make up a new PC that everyone will love or he might take it as a personal attack and could end up leaving the group. |

If he is not helping because he is a low level mage that runs out of spells, it would be kinda harsh, but assuming he is, say, a chaotic neutral bard that goes off to pick dasies while the group is assaulted by, oh, how about a flesh jelly, well, here is how I would go about it. If you are any kind of evil as a group, kill him. If you are lawful as a group, tell him that his lack of loyalty to the group is unacceptable, and he will have to leave. If you are good, tell him that is apathy toward the perils the group faces is worrisome, and in the interests of the good of the group, he will have to leave. OOC, if you are evil, well, it WAS an evil party, he can't be suprised if he was not pulling his weight. Assuming you are not, or even if you are, what Rian Lightblade suggested is probably the right course of action, as much as I hate "intervention" solutions. Or, if the DM agrees to it, just kill him off and shrug- if he is not helping because he is roleplaying his alignment, when he rolls a new character, gently push him toward an alignment that won't mess the party up. |
