1--does simply being prone in any way prohibit or interfere with spellcasting? (i can find nothing in the PHB that addresses this)

2--can a character cast a spell AND move and drink a potion he has in his hand in one round?

3--if a spellcaster wishes to cast a ray at a medium sized target not involved in melee that is about 35' away (within range of the ray) but there is a member of his party (medium sized) directly in his line of sight, are there any modifiers or anything else that would affect the spellcaster's chance to hit?

4--if a spellcaster is hit in melee and decides to drop prone and act dead, intending for his attacker to direct his attention elsewhere, what is used to try to convince the attacker (or anyone else paying attention) that the spellcaster has died? i assume Bluff. anyway, assuming the attacker thinks he's dead and remains in a space next to or the space on top of the "opossum", how would the rules handle the opossum playing dead until his turn and then casting a spell, getting up from prone and drawing a weapon, or using a magic item?

1. guess not... or give it a 20% ASF to all somatic spells (just arcane casters)

2. no

3. asmuch as having a party member between the monster and the archer

4. Bluff. consider him prone if he fails

Correct except for #2, which is still usually correct.

Caster MAY do all 3 actions if the spell is quickened or is a swift/immediate action.
