| stranger-65406-30-05, 07:14 AM | I am about to create a 6th level ranger for a game coming up (i wish it was first level but it was the only way i could play) I always play rangers or rogues because they suit me well and this character is goin to be similar to a sniper or SAS team memeber and i was wondering if any of you have some good tips to help. Any info would be great Please and thank you |
| High King Tigernmas06-30-05, 07:19 AM | Give him a bow. But really...an SAS member? For an SAS member then: Str: Medium->High Dex: High Con: High Int: High Wis: Low->Medium Cha:Low->Medium Give him weapon feats and take the 'Toughness' feat... |
| stranger-65406-30-05, 07:21 AM | Yeah thats what im thinking...but what about feats.....or multiclassing...any ideas on that........ |
| stranger-65406-30-05, 07:22 AM | Prolyl shoulda posted this in optimization.........shouldnt i..... |
| High King Tigernmas06-30-05, 07:31 AM | Multi-class as Ranger/Fighter. Maybe Rogue, but I wouldn't suggest it, it may cripple your character... |
| stranger-65406-30-05, 07:35 AM | i was thinking along the lines of rogue if i wanted to.....i dont expect him to get into to much face to face combat......trusty barbarian and fighter for that role....HE HE HE HE anyway thanks for the help |

| HappyDragon06-30-05, 04:38 PM | Check out the Dread Commando PrC from Heroes of Battle. |
| Kintara06-30-05, 04:53 PM | Rangers have some great archery spells now. Check out Complete Adventurer, and take a look at Arrow Mind, for instance. There's also some nice spells for eliminating range penalties and increasing your range. CAdv has a bunch of neat spells, in fact. They make taking Ranger all the way through a tempting proposition. Complete Divine also has some good sniper spells like Camoflage and Forestfold. So, keep Wisdom up there. Commandos wouldn't live ten minutes without it, anyway. ;) Intelligence is nice, but not as important, as far as I'm concerned. There's some sniping feats in Races of the Wild, like Able Sniper and Woodland Archer. Quick Reconaissance is a decent feat for a sneaky commando type. There are the obvious ranged feats, Precise Shot being one of the most important. Consider picking up Ranged Disarm or Pin from Complete Warrior. Improved Rapid Shot ain't bad, either. |
