| danste0111-06-07, 10:52 PM | Hi I want to make a suggestion with my bardic music and the other player put something into his ear so he can't hear me well.(the Dm gave him a bonus to his saving throw) Is there a ways for me to bypass this? (wish a got a helm of telepathy) Help! |
| Wind of Darkness11-07-07, 12:12 AM | Bardic Music is a sonic effect, so if he can't hear you, there's not much you can do, really. Of course, impairing one's own hearing carries certain associated penalties, as well. It depends on the situation, but your best bet is probably to wait until he removes the obstructions from his ears. |
| PhaedrusXY11-07-07, 01:55 AM | Pull the thing out of his ear. :D |
| danste0111-07-07, 07:13 AM | Let's say that we are in a arena and will fight one again the other. I can't wait for him to pull out his ear plug because I will be death meat. Any other solution? |
| Black Kitten11-07-07, 07:38 AM | Let's say that we are in a arena and will fight one again the other. I can't wait for him to pull out his ear plug because I will be death meat. Any other solution? Start bluffing to him and try to destract him. Yell clearly, look frightened and point behind him. Feed his curiosity by starting to throw funny insults. Once he can hear the crowd starting to laugh about him, it's quite logical he will start to remove the ear-plugs and then he's yours. |
| Radiun11-07-07, 08:14 AM | Cast Hold Person and pull them out after kicking him in the crotch for being insolent? |
| danste0111-07-07, 08:35 AM | A hold person is a low level spell that can be easily avoid by a saving throw from a player of 12 level? |
| danste0111-07-07, 08:44 AM | the dc for a hold personne spell is 10+spell level(2)+char: 10+2+4=16? 16 for a 5 level player is harder than for a 12 level player. I don't understand why the level of the spell caster is not considerate? |
| Nephlite11-07-07, 09:25 AM | the dc for a hold personne spell is 10+spell level(2)+char: 10+2+4=16? 16 for a 5 level player is harder than for a 12 level player. I don't understand why the level of the spell caster is not considerate? Why are you fighting a guy who is 7 levels higher than you? Might as well use Tasha's Hideous Laughter. Hold Person has multiple saves unlike Tasha's. While you can't Coup De grac him with Tasha's: he can take no actions. What class is he? If a Fighter saves will be: 8/4/4 Maybe a Cloak of resist +2 (not too expensive) So +10/+6/+6. He has a 50% chace of failing. Another idea, can you use Grease? Reflex save or fall down. Balance check to move. Unless he is a good balance (rogue, Bard, Monk, etc as class skill) that is a dex check. |
| danste0111-07-07, 09:37 AM | I'm a 11 level bard and he is 12 level dragon shaman. I was simply explaning that a spell caster of high level and a spell caster of a lower level have the same dc for there spell like a hold person. We are in a contest in a arena. I just want to win. I won't die at the end. |
| Black Kitten11-07-07, 09:38 AM | Or, if you have it: INVISIBILITY. He can't spot you and he can't hear you. Then start to do silly things when he's not looking. As soon as the whole crowd starts laughing at him, he'll get more and more suspicious and the fun will start. |
| danste0111-07-07, 09:44 AM | I have a better chance with a suggestion of bardic music: 10 + 1/2 bard level(6) + char mod(4) = 20 dc than from a hold person dc 16 |
| danste0111-07-07, 09:51 AM | to Black Kitten: Yeah... I must use my intelligence(my bard not me, lol) to lure him. I was hopping for a another way, a easy way out of this. (my bard is int(17) not me...lololol) |
| Black Kitten11-07-07, 10:14 AM | to Black Kitten: Yeah... I must use my intelligence(my bard not me, lol) to lure him. I was hopping for a another way, a easy way out of this. (my bard is int(17) not me...lololol) No combat bonus in the world measure up to the best circumstance bonus. As a bard you can be the master of confusion, be the confusion... |

I won't die at the end. You should have more Charisma than 4 by level 11: About 20 or 22 (Cloak of Charisma is a good idea). That will make him fail more often. |
| Wind of Darkness11-07-07, 11:51 AM | Or, if you have it: INVISIBILITY. He can't spot you and he can't hear you. Then start to do silly things when he's not looking. As soon as the whole crowd starts laughing at him, he'll get more and more suspicious and the fun will start. Better yet, greater invisibility (again, if you have it). But yeah, if he can't see you and he can't hear you, he's in trouble. |
| danste0111-07-07, 12:41 PM | I have 18 of charisma. I use Eagles splendor, I have 22 of charisman for a few minute. And yes, I wish a got a clock of charisma(tell that to my DM) To make a suggestion, I got to be seen and heard.(I have greater invisibility) |
| LSMFT11-07-07, 12:54 PM | His ears are plugged: fine. He found a way to resist some of your options. But you’re a bard and have a lot more options. My opening attack would probably be to cast the spell Blindness. Sure, there are other spells out there, but after he intentionally deafens himself, making him unable to see as well is just funny. If you’re worried about the DC of a second-level spell, get the Heighten Spell feat: cast the spell in a higher-level slot and improve the DC that way. Once he’s blind and deaf, either wait for him to unplug his own ears and hit him with Suggestion, or allow him to be totally ineffective for a while and slowly wear him down. |
| danste0111-07-07, 03:03 PM | Thanks for the advice, I'll think about this!:D |
| danste0111-08-07, 01:09 PM | In forgotten realm, there is a spell (bard 1) call Amplify. It decrease the dc of listen by 20. |
| LSMFT11-08-07, 01:13 PM | Yes.... And, what does that matter in this situation? It's still your thread, I'm just curious. |
| Wind of Darkness11-08-07, 03:02 PM | Amplify would make it that much harder to avoid hearing the bard, unless the fighter completely deafens himself. I still like the idea of going invisible/blinding him and then wearing him down with other attacks. |
| danste0111-08-07, 03:26 PM | There are many thing to do. -use unseen servant to pull out the plug in his ear. -use greater invisibility -use mage hand to pull out the plug in his ear. I like amplify spell. |
