| Destindbomb01-10-08, 03:59 PM | My DM is starting a campaign where the party is basically elected to run a small town. Now first off, we all thought this would be an interesting series of adventures, and it kinda puts a block on one player's need to smash everything he comes across. Secondly, it got me thinking about what kind of class would really fit into the mayor/governor type that one of us would have to perform as? I know the bard is charismatic, and the rogue has the skill selection to be a good "face", but I want to find another class or 3 that would be good in a similar situation. I dislike the paladin, cleric, and monk classes for this, although I know that they would be good too. I'm pulling up blanks, but I want to do something with a TWF ranger or maybe a charisma based spellcaster. Any suggestions? I really appreciate anything idea I can get. |

After all, seeing the future for your town is very handy. Or an artificer. Cheaper supplies for the town always comes in handy. |

Something for you to hide will make it more interesting when you're manipulating the townsfolk, and adds an elemrnt of risk to keep you in the game and actually interested. Good plot hooks for the DM, too. I would recommend Warlock as best- the CHA-based spellcasting, and an Invocation which buffs Diplomancy and Bluff. I know a level 3 Warlock with +20 bluff- it's scary. Especially since he's a gnome. -Drake- P.S. Tips for the aspiring evil mastermind- Always use either Misdirection or Mind Blank or similar. You could probably persuade the townsfolk you're a sorcerer to keep a little 'WARLOCK! BURN! BURN!' pressure off you back- you'll get this even if you aren't evil. Trust me. |
| Omnirahk, half-Rahkshi01-11-08, 08:37 PM | Ooh! Ooh! What about a binder? For the same reasons as a warlock. Naberius seems like a must, with the bonus to diplomacy and bluff, iirc. Plus the benefit to other skills of your choice. Seems perfect. It also grants disguise self. Could that hide some of the signs? Probably not. So it really wouldn't be as subtle as a warlock, but I'd just really like to see how the town reacts to somebody who occasionally sprouts horns or something. Eh, just put ranks in disguise and see what you can do to cover up. The impact on your personality if you make a bad pact would also be a hindrance. In the end, I'd have to recommend warlock over binder, although I would personally be sorely tempted by binder. |
